I’m so sorry about how little presence I’ve had lately! Work is incredibly heavy right now. It’s tough to watch a short film a day, even. I’m doing everything I can to keep up. But my tv shows are suffering the most. I haven’t finished everything from last week. I’m going to post the top 5 airing seasons lists as soon as I can. Hopefully, I can gain some ground.
I took a trip to the theater today and saw Jurassic World, Straight Outta Compton, and Ant-Man! I saw them in that order and for me, that’s the same order as I would rank them worst to best. World was above average, but the more I dwell on it, the less my opinion becomes. The nostalgia of it was tough to beat, though. Compton was great, but I thought it kind of lost its way toward the end. The plot frayed a lot and didn’t seem to know where it wanted to resolve. But the story was powerful and incredibly relevant to today. And Ant-Man was just funny and cool. It managed to be a story about saving the world that not only didn’t need any of the Avengers, but actually rejected the inclusion of them (and even stole from them). Rudd was great and Lilly complemented him very well.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp
It’s kind of impossible to review this. Coopenberg’s synopsis in the last episode just proves how absurd this show is. For everything to have happened and occurred in one day, with 30-40 year olds acting like teenagers, and friendship saving the day, is just more than I can handle. It’s very funny, and it gets better the further you get.

I’ve been really pressed for time this month, so ~50% of the films I watched were short films without official posters or anything like that. So, I’m just gonna post a list of the films.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation
I’ve enjoyed all of the M:I movies. Tom Cruise is always fun to watch and the gadgetry and action is great. Ghost Protocol was a very good return to form for the series after two subpar entries. And Rogue Nation is just as good. I still think the original surpasses them both, and that Ghost Protocol/Rogue Nation are wayyyy overrated by critics, but they are good movies and Rebecca Ferguson steals the show in this new film.

Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton have wonderful chemistry. It’s a shame the film doesn’t match their effort. It does have some nice moments, though.
Unbreakable
I think the first half was very strong. And the moment between Willis and his character’s son at the end was great. But the second half for the most part felt very poorly paced, rushed, and unhinged compared to the stronger first half.
