Everybody is obsessed with the label “lesbian” but terrified of what it describes
I find it genuinely bizarre how many people these days see a label that doesn’t fit them and instead of finding a different label, they insist that first label needs to be expanded until it does fit them. “Lesbian” is definitely the biggest victim of this mentality, but it applies to a lot of others too
I don't want women to "feel empowered", I want them to actually have power

did you knowwwwww that when you are fat you still deserve dignity, respect, and privacy? yeah, at any weight. yeah, regardless of what made you fat. yeah, regardless of how long you've been fat. yeah, I know, it's crazy. wild.
75% of domestic violence victims are women, and 95% of perpetrators are men (statistics vary depending on region, but they all follow a similar pattern). i wanted to make a piece about this domestic violence statistic and how it IS sexed violence, especially since some men think that pointing out patterns of sexed violence is “discrimination” against them. saw a post a while ago about how there seems to be a lot of movements about making sexed-violence (rape, IPV, prostitution) seem like it equally happens to both sexes when in reality women are more often than not the victims. but i included the first line because i’m not invalidating male victims.
To my 25 - 35 year olds, you've reached the age where people around you are starting to give up on themselves because they think it's too late. Don't let that energy rub off on you. It's not too late.

The more accustomed you become to seeing women referred to as acronyms, the easier it becomes to forget that they are people, too. - Laura Bates, Men Who Hate Women
The powerful normally determine what is said and sayable. When the powerful label something or dub it or baptize it, the thing becomes what they call it. And generally, when renegade women call something one thing and patriarchal loyalists call it another, the loyalists get their way. - Marylin Frye, The Politics of Reality
He gives the name, the name endures; she gives the name, the name is lost. This power of naming enables men to define experience, to articulate boundaries and values, to designate to each thing its realm and qualities, to determine what can and cannot be expressed, to control perception itself. It is the naming by decree that is power over and against those who are forbidden to name their own experience; it is the decree backed up by violence that writes the name indelibly in blood in male-dominated culture. Men have defined the parameters of every subject. All feminist arguments, however radical in intent or consequence, are with or against assertions or premises implicit in the male system, which is made credible or authentic by the power of men to name. - Andrea Dworkin, Pornography
you are not an endearingly rude and unfriendly cartoon character you need to be nice to people

Here’s HSTHETE, the 24 hour comic I drew this year! Thanks to everybody who followed along on twitter this weekend as I posted these pages <3
PS: if you liked this, there’s a whole book of these comics available now!
I’m reblogging this 7-year-old comic of mine because, not only is it somehow still circulating, it just passed 400,000 notes??? Thank you, several hundred thousand internet strangers, for keepin’ this ol’ goat girl goin’ so long
(Also hi, I’m still making fairy-tale-flavored lesbian romance comics and have a new one coming out very soon…)
the most annoying thing abt the whole queer being reclaimed thing is like. yeah lots of fuckin slurs have been reclaimed. they still don't call women's studies bitch studies in college. they don't have n word theory 101. the fuck is anybody acting like it's cool for straight ppl and institutions to be throwing this word around like it's no big deal bc a couple of swingers with blue hair decided it was cool? wtf?
Exactly! to copy what I said privately on the topic:
For most slurs, reclamation is considered an individual process. What one person may be comfortable with is not safe to presume everyone will be comfortable with. Additionally, reclamation is normally done within a community, not outside of it.
Yet for sexual minorities, we're meant to suddenly be okay with straight news anchormen calling all of us the "Queer Community," who gave him the right? Lesbian authors are suddenly listed under "queer authors" by articles even when the woman herself has only called herself "lesbian."
There is a pervasive and constant pushing of boundaries by TRAs, and if you push back even a little bit, you're the one seen as intolerant. Why couldn't you just roll over and let us label you as strange?
