Hi Iâm little right now can someone talk
I donât know who needs to hear this but youâre neither lazy nor useless, fatigue is a symptom of your illness(es) and itâs completely reasonable that a fatigued person would struggle with the things youâre struggling with
THE SHEER ACCURACY OF THIS COMMENT
I think I stan Rick Riordan fully if I hadnât before
Spoiler alert: Loki gives birth to Sleipnir
Everyone has good days and bad days, but mine are more like good hours and bad years.
My favorite thing is that Europe is spooky because itâs old and America is spooky because itâs big
âThe difference between America and England is that Americans think 100 years is a long time, while the English think 100 miles is a long way.â âEarle Hitchner
A fave of mine was always the american tales where people freaked out because âsomeone died in this houseâ and all the europeans would go ââŠYes? That would be pretty much every house over 40 years old.â
ââŠMy school is older than your entire town.â
âSorry, you think *how far* is okay to travel for a shopping trip?â
*American looks up at the beams in a country pub* âUh, this place has woodworm, isnât that a bit unsafe?â âEh, the woodwormâs 400 years old, itâs holding those beams together.â
A few years ago when I was in college I did a summer program at Cambridge aimed specifically at Americans and Canadians, and my year it was all Americans and one Australian. We ended the program with a week in Wessex, and on the last day as we all piled onto the bus in Salisbury (or Bath? I canât remember), the professors went to the front to warn us that we wouldnât be making any stops unless absolutely necessary. Weâre headed to Heathrow to drop off anyone flying off the same day, then back to Cambridge.
âAll right, itâs going to be a long bus ride, so make sure youâre prepared for that.â
We all brace ourselves. A long bus ride? How long? Weâre Americans; a long bus ride for us is a minimum of six hours with the double digits perfectly plausible. We can handle a twelve hour bus ride as long as we get a bathroom break.
The answer.  âTwo hours.â
Oh.
English people trying to travel around Australia and wildly underestimating distance are my favourite thing
a tour guide in France told my school group that a particular cathedral wouldnât interest us much because âitâs not very old; only from the early 1600sâ
to which we had to respond that it was still older than the oldest surviving European-style buildings in our country
China is both old and big. I had some Chinese colleagues over; we were discussing whether they wanted to see the Vasa ship (hugely expensive war ship which sank on itâs maiden voyage after 12 min). They asked if it was old, I said ânot THAT oldâ (bearing in mind they were Chinese) âitâs from the 1500s.â To my surprise they still looked impressed, nodding enthusiatically. Then I realised Iâd forgotten something: ââŠI mean itâs from the 1500s AFTER the birth of Christâ and they went âoh, AFTERâŠâ.
My dadâs favorite quote from various tours in Italy was âPay no attention to the tower â it was a [scornful tone] tenth century addition.â
My last boss was Chinese, and she said when her parents came to visit her from Beijing they pronounced Chicago âA very nice village.âÂ

i just wrote -2-2x= like 75 times on a paper oh god
i filled up both sides
what just happened
this makes me uncomfortable,Â
then do =x+2+ for the next part
for âor blow me a kiss, and thatâs lucky tooâ itâs =+1=+1
What is this sorcery?!?!
this is my favorite post on tumblr
the ending is: 12=x1=
So I just worked out the whole song, and here you go:
- 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + - 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + = + 1 = + 1
- 7Â 2 + 7 = x + 2 + = 2 + 2Â 1 = x + 2 +
- 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + - 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + - 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + - 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 +
- 7Â 2 + 7 = x + 2 +
- 7Â 2 + 7 = x + 2 + = 7Â 7Â 2 + = x + 2 + = x - 7 - 2
- 2 - 2 x = = x + 2 + = x + 2Â 1 = x + 2 + 1Â 2 = x 1 =
My mind just broke
*writes furiously*
Mom: Are you writing an essay?
Me: Hm? Wha-oh yeah. An essay. Definitely.Â
I def just wrote this on a piece of paper while laughing and my friends are now judging me hardcore

Reblog if you are a greedy gay hoarding refracted light all for your greedy gay self
I totally am, but also: I have a story. The time: 1995. The place: a small liberal arts college. We decided to participate in âdenim dayâ which was a widespread event wherein on National Coming Out Day, you would wear denim to indicate SUPPORT FOR the LGBT community. Our support group made posters that were very, very clear about this. Wearing denim did not mean that you were coming out, it meant you supported anyone around you who might.
I have never seen so many suits and khakis IN MY LIFE. People who accidentally wore jeans went home and changed.
The community took it as a rebuke. We drew in closer to eachother, and felt unwelcome everywhere we thought we had friends before.
And I had people later tell me âYou know I support you, just⊠I didnât want anyone to think I was.â First off, I DONâT know you support me. Not if you refuse to, for one day, change nothing about your life to show it. Second off⊠why is that such a terrifying thought to you?
I remember before rainbows were a âgay thingâ. They were everywhere. Church walls next to arks. School walls next to sunshine faces. People have VOLUNTARILY abandoned every other use. I have HEARD PEOPLE SAY they just couldnât use rainbows anymore because people would think of âgay stuff.â
So I know this is a joke, and a stolen one at that, but youâve done this to yourselves. If someone is so terrified of being perceived as queer that they will INSTANTLY abandon something they like if it has queer germs on it now or something, then they donât deserve refracted light.
Maybe help us change the world into a place where being mistaken for queer would be just a thing to chuckle about and you can have refracted light back.
The LGBTQ+ community didnât steal the rainbow. The straights abandoned it.
Giraffe-taur drops a quarter: the crappy comic.
okay but this is the purpose of the internet. I can look at a cute comic about a giraffe centaur who dropped his quarter trying to get a crappy vending machine snack. In no universe would I think of or make this myself. How awesome
Ignoring the second tweet for a second, but thatâs literally how insurance works.
âCompany gets insurance and then claims that insurance when applicableâ is not a story.
Normally I would agree with you, but in the context of âduring a disaster that almost nobody had anticipated was even possible, one company HAD gotten insurance for this shitâ is news, because unusual things are news, and being prepared for the corona virus at all is very unusual.
You know right that pandemics existed before Corona virus and that this insurance was for pandemics and not just corona and therefore actually kinda sorta really makes sense
I looked it up and apparently, Wimbledonâs Risk and Finance Committee demanded that pandemic insurance be purchased after the SARS outbreak in 2002. They recognized that a pandemic was a threat to their event after SARS and made a plan.
Apparently some furry conventions have also had pandemic insurance, so we can all live with the knowledge that furry conventions and a tennis tournament were better prepared for a pandemic than any other businesses and most governments.
The day this gets 1500 notes , I will go to bed at 9:00 pm For a month to catch up on all the sleep I missed when being stubborn
And replies dont count , and you can only reblog once .

but go to sleep when you can. whenever you can, just get a lil shuteye. even if you donât actually fall asleep, laying down and closing your eyes and reston. can be really beneficial, at least a lot more so than staying awake and alert and active, mkay?
now followers, i need like 600 of you to get this to where it needs to be. 1500 isnât a lot, letâs get this there to help this person out.

FUCK YOU ALL FOR TAGGING MICKEY, YOUR GONNA WIN NOW
thatâs the point
i knew the state of societyâs view of children was bad but i didnât realize just how dire the situation was was until the lockdown began. this last month or so has really opened my eyes to how much people dislike children, even their own children, simply because they exist and they need them because you know⊠theyâre small humans without the capacity to care for themselves. it seems harmless but memes talking about how parents need alcohol to deal with their kids or canât wait for their kids to go back to school so someone else can deal with them does harm in that it dehumanizes children and puts blame on the children for existing when itâs not the childâs fault they were brought into the world. it also brings about another uncomfortable fact: if you donât like the way your children behave, barring them having a behavioral disorder or disability, youâre probably to blame and need to reevaluate how youâre raising them. children are more than innocent bystanders⊠they are helpless and absolutely reliant on the adults around them to not only provide for them, but to show them love which in turn sets the precedent for how they will love in the future. this attitude implying they asked to be here and that itâs okay to joke about how annoying they are has got to stop.Â
the twitter thread the artist created after this was one of the best situations i have ever seen in my whole life:
Somebody give this ignoramus a piece of actual shark skin and tell him to rub his face with it, let him find out just how âsmoothâ sharks really are.
Somebody did. I use it as a pillowcase because itâs so smooth.
But buddy.
Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper. It is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales, also known as dermal denticles. These scales point towards the tail and help to reduce friction from surrounding water when the shark swims. ⊠In the opposite direction, it feels very rough like sandpaper.
((Here m8 https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/fish/discover/sharks/basics ))
Buddy. Itâs smooth. The link you sent me led to a website that described how smooth they are. I dunno, maybe you donât know how to read?
this post is transcendent
Youâre thinking of dolphins. Dolphins are the ones with smooth skin that feels like a rubber beach ball.
Source: IâM A MARINE BIOLOGIST
No, Iâm thinking of sharks.
Source: Iâm a superior marine biologist
i wonder where all these smooth sharks are gonna go
concept: the lil teeth of a sharkâs skin can go up and down depending on the situation, like the white eyelid that covers a sharkâs eyes to protect it
so like⊠you could grate cheese on an aggressive dharkâs skin bc all the teeth are up
but all these dudes are feeling up calm sharks so the teeth are down so it all feels smooth
