Honestly this is really the only place that I can rant without having to worry about word counts but I'm in the process of, I guess the best wording for it is rebranding?

I've changed Anton's design months ago and I'm making a crew for them to interact with in short form content and potentially comics if I feel like it. But every time that I try to start I'm hit with just how much work this is.

I have to finalize at least 7 designs, I want to make a video on it so supplementary art to get into these characters personalities, I want to go back over my old videos and give them a refresh with updated opinions and art and such for the ones that I care about, and I need to update all of my icons and banners to fit the new designs.

Anyways this is a long winded way of me saying check out my new icon, I just finished it.

Every time I see this quote I realize how poor even very smart people are at looking at the long game and at assessing these things in context.

One of my favourite illustrations of this was in a First Aid class. The instructor was a working paramedic. He asked, “Who here knows the stats on CPR? What percentage of people are saved by CPR outside a hospital?”

I happen to know but I’m trying not to be a TOTAL know it all in this class so I wait. And people guess 50% and he says, “Lower,” and 20% and so forth and eventually I sort of half put up my hand and I guess I had The Face because he eventually looked at me and said, “You know, don’t you.”

“My mom’s a doc,” I said. He gave me a “so say it” gesture and I said, “Four to ten percent depending on your sources.”

Everyone else looked surprised and horrified.

And the paramedic said, “We’re gonna talk a bit about some details of those figures* but first I want to talk about just this: when do you do CPR?”

The class dutifully replies: when someone is unconscious, not breathing, and has no pulse.

The class tries to figure out what the trick question is so I jump over the long pause and say, “A corpse.”

My current not-approved-by-the-government opinion is that im not anyone's parent and i should not be responsible for random teenagers online. If I post smth thats 'meant for adults' and its labled as such then what happens from there is literally not my problem. If a teen- who is fully capable of turning on self moderation settings on their own btw- doesn't use a site's provided self moderation settings and they see boobs or dicks then like literally whatever, its neither the end of the world or a big deal. So I was about to make a post about how using speech to text has already been a game changer for me but as you can see by the line of asterix at the start of this post the bloody thing auto censors swear words. Anybody who needs speech to text is immediately forced to comply with the rules set out by people in a position of power and then enforced by a machine — a machine that is a very powerful accessibility tool. Imagine trying to dictate a letter to a doctor or fill in an E consult with speech to text, only to have words of your anatomy censored as if they are taboo. there is already far too much stigma around genital physical health — and note that I could say genital but can't say **** [clitoris] — for it to be okay for these words to be censored.

And even if somebody just wants to swear In a message to their friends or write smut/**** [pornography], they should be able to. There is no justification for this feature. No reason for it to be default.

I'm trying to find a way around this. There is a settings icon on the little speech to text bar that comes up, but this only gives me options For the speech typing launcher, auto punctuation, and to set the default microphone. it's making me extremely angry

When I was taking classes on becoming an interpreter, the first thing, literally the very first lesson, was that you accurately convey exactly what the client says, including tone. If my client called someone the equivalent of a "fucking cunt" in their own language, that was what had better come out of my mouth, without getting precious about not wanting to swear or use the c-word.
