Everything used to be 20 dollars and now that I finally have 20 dollars everything is now 200 dollars
we used to get christmas episodes of television. halloween episodes. valentines. we used to get television that felt like part of your life. like it was happening alongside your life. now we mostly get 8 episodes dropping all at once every two years and they don't have time for any of that. i miss characters living alongside us
just finished the good omens finale and it does make me a little sad that i liked how it all wrapped up but it felt soo quick. like i dont even think a full season was needed but maybe 3 or 4 episodes to lengthen it out and let stuff develop a bit more (obviously i know why not and am just glad to have a finale but still)
I don't want my cellphone to have AI I want it to have 3 days of battery time. I don't want my computer to have AI preinstalled I want it to have seven usb ports and high ram at affordable price. I don't want my games to have AI built levels I want them to be so optimized I could run them on a nokia.
I'm in bed with the flu which means it's my spicy internet time and for once I'd like to take it to talk about The Unsleeping City: Chapter II. It's the intrepid heroes least popular season, understandably because of the poor Zoom quality, but I have some other qualms with it which is why I don't talk about it so often, but now I actually wanna bring up one of my absolute favourite parts of that season which is, also, totally unique to that season. I understand why they haven't done it in any other season, because it's an uncomfortable thing, especially with a mixed poc and caucasian table, but since it's so unique it also makes me thoroughly disappointed that I've never seen a single post talking about it during my now many years with the Dimension 20 community.
Cody and Ricky's strenuous relationship. And yes, I understand that many have Cody as their favourite character because he is objectively funny. He is reliably the punchline in every single scene and many relate to him being stuck in his Hot Topic teenage years. So I understand that, yes, it's probably swept under the rug since so many people's favourite character is Cody, but I'm tired of it because my favourite character, throughout any Dimension 20 season, is Ricky Matsui.
Ricky Matsui's arc during season 2 is that he has to learn that it's okay for him to dislike a person even if they're not evil. You can just not like someone because your personalities don't match. Ricky is continually annoyed by Cody and it is so fucking funny, yes. I cry laughing every time I think about Sofia casting Silence on Ricky so he can scream his head off after Cody gets the questing blade. But there's another reason besides general annoying-ness that Ricky doesn't like Cody. His racism.
No, I'm not saying Cody Walsh is a racist, but there is an underlying theme during season two that Cody unknowingly and continually disrespects Asian culture that really gets under Ricky's skin.
Ricky is quiet. It's not a character trait I picked up on until the Time Quangle episodes, since Zac is generally known for not taking over scenes, but his other "low-key" characters had more presence than Ricky during the quangles and there he has no friends that's going to address him directly. Ricky's a quiet person. He's got a big family. We only meet Emiko, but we know he also has at least two twin brothers. He's also a first generation immigrant. It's never brought up during any of the seasons (I think it might have been just over Discord that Zac talked about it), but his real name is Riki Matsui. He chose to americanise it. He chose to assimilate. He's already sacrificed a piece of his culture.
Ricky is nice. He's kind. His soul has no darkness and he's dedicated his life to civic duty. And then there is this guy. And he's friends with your friend. But he keeps using your culture as a gimmick and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth.
The second season of The Unsleeping City is the only Dimension 20 season that's tackled racism and between player characters at that! That's big! It's something they don't really do (not out of ignorance, but probably just a wish to keep it out of their work). Why did you all sweep it under the rug?
Just got to Fight at the Museum where Cody grabs the katana and it’s probably the first time Ricky expresses himself to be like “can you please give it to me” like the anime obsession and institutionalized racism are one thing. And he looks at this white man who has no understanding of the history or culture who’s about to use a weapon from Ricky’s culture to defeat a ghostly samurai in a museum that probably stole this weapon to begin with and he’s like “please let me do this I can’t let you do this”
And then Cody says “I’m more of a Raphael anyway” 😭😭😭
I hate and also love Cody but god Ricky is so so good, he and Pete are prob my favorite characters and he deserves so much. Love Ricky Matsui, love Zac Oyama, 10/10
“i should take a walk for my mental health” boring, tired, i don’t even really wanna do it tbh
“i need to check the perimeter” i need to check the perimeter

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS | 2x05: We Check In to C.C.’s Spa & Resort
WAKE UP DEAD MAN dir. Rian Johnson
Can we talk about how Percy treats his friends? Annabeth and Grover's pictures are both on his mirror. He took the time to print them out and hang them up. He looks at them every morning. He and Grover have such a strong bond that it forms an empathy link. He would make the journey to the Bermuda Triangle alone if it meant bringing Grover home. He has been dying to hear about the most mundane parts of Annabeth's life. He wants her on his team in every aspect. Yes, he looks at Annabeth like he loves her. He looks at Grover the same way. He just loves his friends so much. He would (and will) follow them to the ends of the earth just so they don't have to go alone. He is the biggest defender of his friends, not necessarily because he's the best at it, but because he has such a strong belief that the people he cares about deserve to be protected. I will forever love him for being such a good example of what friendship and love should look like.

bill seacaster's relationship with his son is insane btw. like. he gave him everything. and nothing. he gave him a shadow to stand under as well as a pedestal up in the clouds. he threatened to kill fabian at least two times before he died and that's only counting what we know. he's bill's darling boy. patricide runs in the family. ("i thought you were just going to be me.") bill slammed fabian's head against the hard floor of a prison cell. ("a way for me to live forever.")
it just. drives me insane. the love bill gives fabian is so fucked up and soaked in blood and the weight of the legend that is Bill Seacaster that it's a miracle and a testament to Fabian's heart and love for his father that he isn't even angry at him— he just wanted him to understand.
understand the weight of the expectations, the legacy, the enemies made past and present. the weight of the loneliness and the empty manor. the weight so heavy it makes him broadcast his voice to all of hell on the off-chance that his Papa will head his call.
love that says i'll kill you before you kill me but also you're the only one that can. love that says i'd scrub my name off this world for you but if you want me to bring you back to life that's X amount of gold pieces.
what the FUCK.
To be fair on the last point, when Bill died he turned his son's slain foe into a pirate ship and sailed around the hells waging war on the devil. He probably has an even more skewed perspective on the consequences of death than he had while he was alive.
Esther from dimension 20, coolest npc ever made
