I went to Alberta for a couple weeks and didn't get to see my babies. I've never been away from them for so long. I got to finally see them today and I'm over the moonā¤ļø
I made a Color Guide for clients and I thought Id share it here.Ā
Just my personal opinion of what colors I think work for different colored horses. You may agree or you may notĀ š

Best friends
20-year-old horses arenāt supposed to look like they had two legs in the grave.
Pass it on.
Heās 30:
All these guys are 20+ and we had just gone for a wild trail ride.
Iām here for the super seniors! (20, 19, 20)
I love this post. I love this post so much.Ā
I love shifting away from letting horses be in poor condition because of the antiquated idea that they are ātoo oldā to be otherwise and toward rethinking what a senior horse could and should look like. It can and often does take a fair bit more money, more effort, solid husbandry knowledge, and a big dose of creativity to keep a senior as sound and fit as possible. But you know what? I find it so rewarding! Even on the tough days.Ā š I had doubts I could ever get a mare with some fused lumbar vertebrae, sacroiliac joint arthritis, and bad hocks to ever look and feel good again, but man⦠So proud of my 23yo mare!Ā šŖĀ
(And a big nod to the barn owner, because this totally would not have been possible without her killer feed program.)
23 and in (almost) full work after recovering from a tendon injury - her owner does everything in her power to keep her healthy and happy and it definitely pays offĀ [sorry for the blurry picture]
On the left: Bob (26)
Bob (26) and Moniq (20) :D
(Iām the one on Moniq)
When I was given Jet two years ago, I honestly thought he was only 10. According to my vet and what Iāve been able to piece together of his history, he actually turns 20 this year!
This is the best picture I have of Chai at the moment, but heās 23! Heās semi-retired (occasionally goes for trail rides with my dad but thatās about it) because he has some hock and stifle arthritis and only ever wants to gallop or canter when you get on him because he was a barrel and pole horse most of his life, but heās still sound, comfortable, and very much enjoys being mostly a pasture puff lol. Heās a rescue and he deserves it at this point.

19 years young and still jumping 2'7" courses on a regular basis!
Heās a pony, but 29 and still going strong!
Jimmyās 23 and still riding and driving!
I definitely did not buy them matching spring sheets.. š¤·š¼āāļø
And my little man scope.

horse things
⢠seeing your horseās breath on cold mornings ⢠when youāre riding and they cock their ears back at you when you shift your hands/legs ⢠when they raise their heads and their ears perk up as you walk towards them ⢠when youāre done lunging your horse and they walk towards you without you clicking/kissing at them ⢠the heaviness in your legs after you hop off ⢠relaxing while riding bareback ⢠cantering and feeling the breeze in your face ⢠picking up the correct lead on your first try ⢠successfully clearing a jump ⢠counting leads ⢠feeling your horse move smoothly around a barrel or pole ⢠the āklomp-klomp-klompā of their hooves on stone or wood ⢠the tension and excitement of walking into the arena at a show ⢠when your trainer praises you ⢠when your trainer uses you as an example ⢠when the sun is setting and all the horses in the pasture are silhouettes ⢠listening to your horse gulping when they drink water after a long ride ⢠the barn smell ⢠listening to the horses whinny at each other from different sides of the barn ⢠the smell of new tack ⢠taking braids out of their mane and tail
Divas quite a special pony
One of Sieās magical powers is his ability to absorb and become the colour of the sky.Ā

āThe problem with most riders is that they have all the gear and no ideaā
