The histories of Westeros say that when Lyonelās daughter was snubbed when her betrothed Targaryen prince ran away with a peasant girl of all people Lyonel started his rebellion and crowned himself out of wounded pride for his house
But inside closed doors what I imagine was something more personal ya know
A girl who is the shine in her fatherās eyes, the giggle of the laughing storm, destined from young age to be a princess, to be a queen
2 years of betrothal, no expense too great in lessons, dance classes, court etiquette and more. Everything his darling will need if she is to one day be the lady of the Red Keep
Everyday he is there telling his daughter what a wonderful princess she will make and what an amazing queen she will be, how her name will be carved in historyā¦
And then the prince throws his titles to the air and runs away with a common girl
Do you think she cried? This girl who was supposed to be queen one day whose name is not even mentioned in the histories now?
Did she hug her father in her room, asking him in between her sobs what was wrong with her? Surely there must be something irrevocably wrong with her for the Prince to choose a simple girl of Oldstones over her.
Was she not pretty enough? Smart enough? Did her laugh boom to loudly, her dance too wild? In Stormās End that was no problem, no one was expecting any less from the laughing stormās little girl, but Kingās Landing was not the Stormlands and clearly a Targaryen prince wanted someone more delicate for a wife, a girl with flowers in her hair instead of antlers.
There is sorrow in her eyes, fury in her voice. A heart broken and a fear growing in her guts as uncertainty makes home in her mind as what she thought was her future dissolves right in front of her eyes.
And Lyonel just had to stand there with his baby crying in his arms, all the dreams he filled her heart with crumbling to dust, all the promises he made now only daggers on her heart.
Queen of nothing, princess from nowhere.
YEARS of loyalty to the crown only for them to throw his girl away like a stone on the middle of the road. How dare they? HOW DARE?!
But he promised her a crown and the seven above may lay witnesses but he was fucking giving her one.
