Are you aware of any show/movie that has followed in Schitt's Creek footsteps and decided to not show homophobia or bigotry? I know Mare of Easttown did do this recently, but considering that the plot dealt with something wildly different, it devoted very little screen time to this.

i'm gonna throw this out to the crowd because i honestly don't know of anything but maybe someone else does

Derry Girls has a main character who comes out as gay, and their sexuality is never treated as a joke by any of the characters. That said, it isn't quite the same as what we see in Schitt's Creek, but the spirit is there lol

On her way to NYC, Alexis Rose is sucked into some portal that takes her to Worcester, MA where she takes on the role of the mistreated, overlooked wife of a fuckin loser of a husband. Having lost all her memories, Alexis, or Allison, must now grapple with being stuck in a painfully unfunny sitcom starring said useless husband.
