Dissociation isnt enough I need to live in my paracosm
Curious: are your paras mostly
Primparas (ocs)
Fictparas (based on fictional characters)
Factparas (based on real people)
Even mix of 2 of those
Even mix of all 3
that MaDD feel when every story you ever come up has two versions, the one that you can share with the public and the one that's canon compliant with your paracosm
NGL yea
True
Tag the OC that always looks on the bright side
girl help my paracosm has too many plotlines and I no longer know what the fuck is happening
Does anyone else when they need in-universe media to exist in their paracosm get distracted with designing it?
I hope everyone with a para who has witnessed The Horrors has a great day
Do any of your characters have dissociative identity disorder (DID) or some other kind of single-body system? What trauma prompted the formation of other personalities or inputs?
Edit: I just realized I should have said this. Calling people in system's personalities is wrong and hasn't been used medically since 1990. People in systems are people, not personalities.
I was just thinking about Or. I don't think they're a trauma-based system per say though, though definitely impacted by severe mental trauma Or had childhood mental illness so in my head they never had a singlet brain even as a child.
Or's backstory and system is actually a lot more interesting than what caused their system. They sustained mental damage from fusing with a psychic glitch Pokemon but Ursa and Caelum awakened during this and managed to start repairing their system and recover anyone who was lost in the sustained damage.
Or's headspace was reduced to ruins after what happened but they've managed to rebuild it but a lot of their headspace was lost and they still have system members who have no memories or can't do basic things. Though because of their system's abilities in being able to repair their own brain and because of how brain injuries through glitch Pokemon is a problem in this world very few know how to deal with, they're working to become a neurologist.
I can see Or as being diagnosed with DID and self-identifying as such especially with the issue of system members who can't take care of themselves. I just don't think the core/front-running five would think of themselves as alters at all.
Outside of Or there's also Sable/Amaranth. I don't know if Sable would be trauma-based or DID either but I don't really focus on that when designing plural characters. I could see them as being such but again the system itself is far more interesting.
Sable's system is one I'm still fleshing out but where I'm at is they're mostly objects and collectively Dollkin. I also have a storyline for them where they loose their memories in a magical and not as serious way where they have no idea what's really going on with them but notice their system, and that's when they start to discover what they are.
I think Sable's system would be very neat. They wouldn't have a lot of fragments and I can't see them struggling severely with anything at all, moreso they're just too scared to explore themselves. Sable is also fused with a glitch Pokemon but I think that would have caused their system to become more terrified and locked down if anything. While Or's response was to handle it with their system, Sable's was to freeze.
There's more that I'm playing with but those two are the most developed as system characters.
*daydreams about daydreaming*
I saw the paracosm icebergs by @sugarcoatedsadism and @acircusfullofdemons and felt inspired to make my own. I may have gone a little overboard.
I wanna share my paracosm and get into the daydreaming community but a little over half of my paras are fictparas and most of my main paras, including my verit, are fictparas. Also my paracosm is based off of Miitopia
Share them anyway!! I have less than 10 primparas, all the rest are fictparas, and my main paracosms are based on undertale, hetalia and the magnus archives. Cringe culture is dead and MaDD tumblr dug the grave
My paracosm is based on Pokemon and there are a fair share of preexisting fictional character paras. If you're really concerned about it, you can always change their names or not outright say that they are characters which is what I do.
If you're concerned with their names getting into search results you can also replace some letters with symbols and that typically does it.
Also @life-of-a-maladaptive-daydreamer I don't know what a primpara is nor could I come up with a guess, and thought to look it up. This is probably not what you were intending.
Primpara refers to a para you created, an oc para if you will. A para not based on a pre-existing character or person
I figured that out when I searched on Tumblr. Maybe insourced/outsourced terminology would be better for the difference since primpara isn't too clear what it means, but that's my opinion.
The terminology is actually sourced. Here's the original post coining the terms primpara and fictpara that explains them:
I know I'm not probably in the position to introduce new terms but I will from now on refer to original paras as primparas (primum is latin
Sorry I should have been more clear, insourced means an original creation, such as an original character, while outsorced means being sourced from somewhere else, such as a preexisting character. The terms have been used by soulbonders for some time now.
I finally made art for Or
