Ok so maybe this isn’t necessarily an art/text post BUT often when I think about a character I like to think about how they would smell. I know that can be kinda weird but I love thinking about what scent notes I would associate with them. So today I took some time to dig up four different perfumes that i correlate to a few madness combat characters! :p at some point I would like to make very specific note profiles for them not necessarily picking out specific perfumes.
Description of perfume found on frangrantica:

Ok so if we’re talking about canon hank the story behind this scent kinda works also kinda doesn’t… maybe Hank definitely hates “governments” (A.A.H.W.) BUT the “love all people” doesn’t at all. Reading thru the comments of what people who own/tried this perfume say it honestly freaks them out; someone said it smells like an over crowded hospital in an active war zone, something like that… It is my dream to own this scent! Which could happen! I found a site selling various sized vials samples; a 2ml bottle is 12 dollars. That’s really small but a whole decanter of this stuff is PRICEY like I think over 300 dollars or more expensive… oh also most people agree this NOT a casual scent you can wear in public. Unless you’re a scare actor OR want to purposely smell very off putting.

Ok so small rant I’m pissed off at tumblr because I HAD wrote what I wanted to say about this perfume but I wanted to look at another tab on my iPad and when I came back TUMBLR REFRESHED AND I LOST WHAT I WROTE. anyways rant over im rewriting my commentary….
Unfortunately when I went to look up the story behind this scent I couldn’t find much about it; when I went to go look directly at the perfumery’s houses website it was down! Rip! Anyways despite its weird notes i believe it’s supposed to be reminiscent of spinal fluid. Doing a little research people who have smelled spinal fluid “medical professionals” have said it mostly smells like nothing but it does have slight notes of sweetness one person even saying it smells “banana-y” with metallic and salty notes. When someone has an infection however for example meningitis; It had more of a rancid off putting smell. Lastly when I looked at the comments of people who have tried this perfume one person said quote, “It smells like a straight up gory crime scene where the murderer half-hazardly attempted to start cleaning but gave up prematurely.” This sounds very in character for doc, especially if we remember in mc 9.5 doc had a whole ass corpse in his room…. I also think this scent is supposed to be reminiscent of a hospital? Which if you’ve been in one it smells very sterile, chemically even, it’s very off putting. This is ALSO one I’d like to own a sample of! :D

The story behind this decanter is really interesting; personally I believe it suits the sheriff’s character however maybe a little more cowardly compared to the description. The name and concept of this one I think is fitting for his “cowboy” aesthetic, maybe instead of Spanish leaning more into western for the sherry. 🤠 like most Nevadans blood notes suit him also I can in-vision him smoking a fat cigar. To quote what someone who’s smelled this scent describes it, “"People scare better when they're dying."
Literally made me gag. I don't think I've ever had such a visceral reaction to a scent, short of the smell of human decomposition. I couldn't get the smell out of my nose. Heady and sickening. Like a large animal actively bleeding out. (So, the name is fitting I guess.) If you can pull this off, you might be Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in the West”
I too would like to own this perfume.
Lastly but least for now is the auditor! Tbh I struggled a lot trying to pinpoint a scent for him so I’m just last minute adding Blood by Redwood Alchemy! hehe also small mention of eau de space lmao
Descriptions I found for both scents on fragrantica:

Blood- “Thick, hot, dripping blood. It courses through us all. It runs hot when our passions bubble up, and runs cold when life takes a turn for the worse.This realistic blood fragrance is not for the faint of heart.”
When it comes to the auditor I think I would choose to layer both said perfumes; I just think they’d end up smelling like both at the same time… I think back on when someone asked on Krinkels curious cat what would the auditor/employers would smell like? Him saying that would probably smell odd and otherworldly. I can’t quite remember exactly what he said but I think these scents suit the auditor for Lü Bu reading what people had to say my favorite description was this, “A thick fog hangs outside. In her old, slightly dusty mansion, a very wealthy old lady has been burning moth paper. Her vanity is crammed with vintage powder and other slightly expired cosmetics from another era. She is making her way down into the cellar when she slips on a damp concrete step, knocking into a barrel packed with gunpowder. A cracked skull, velvet blood spilling across the floor. And in her place, as if by some strange magic, luxurious irises begin to grow, filling the whole room with a powdery, smoky, cold, and wickedly beautiful melody.
This is how I visualize SORADORA's Lü Bu. Somehow this story is still comforting and you want to smell it more and more. Absolutely in love!” Secondly here’s one of my fave descriptions for Blood, “This is a very strong, potent fragrance. I am proud to say that I actually didn't gag upon smelling it, but I was close. I made the mistake of spraying it on my arm the first time I smelled it, and I couldn't get it to wash off and it made me nauseous for the rest of the day. It will get stuck in your nose, even just smelling it from the bottle.
If you were to hand this to me without telling me what it's supposed to smell like, I wouldn't immediately guess blood. It smells kind of like a piece of sheet metal someone zested a lemon on top of with a chemical base. It's very difficult to describe. Despite being one note, i do find it to be a complex scent. Something about it hits you in the gut and makes your stomach churn.
I think it's worth it to odd folk like me that collect perfumes and didnt go into this expecting to find my next go-to fragrance. It's definitely not for most people and not exactly the most wearable scent. But it's a cool piece to have to people that can appreciate the art of it and collect weird things.”
I really resonate with parts of the descriptions people gave for those scents; for Lü Bu the person saying “making her way down into the cellar when she slips on a damp concrete step, knocking into a barrel packed with gunpowder. A cracked skull, velvet blood spilling across the floor. And in her place, as if by some strange magic, luxurious irises begin to grow, filling the whole room with a powdery, smoky, cold, and wickedly beautiful melody.” That I feel like works with the auditor supposedly smelling “otherworldly” with the other persons reactions being almost gagging from the smell and churning their stomach, leaving behind the smell in your nose even from only smelling from the bottle. If you were to survive an encounter with the auditor I would bet that their smell would stick to the insides of your nostrils for HOURS; on a final note for the auditor I think he would have a few other notes, maybe ones you can’t even describe or maybe smelling like “Eau de Space - The Smell of Space”, also cola, and artificial sticky syrup. 🖤
I’m not the most crazy about the notes for Lü Bu BUT I would be interested in smelling it; for the other two I mentioned I would like to own sample of them. :P
Ok alright I’m done with this post! One final thing I wanted to share was the song I’ve been listening to for the last several hours of researching and writing this post. I’ll add the link below, it’s a rather disturbing mainly string instrumental with industrial parts to it but I really love it, I could and literally do listen to this for hours! I’m sharing the re-strung version because I think it’s cooler than the original. It invokes feeling in me of an abomination that was created in a laboratory; this “thing” really shouldn’t exist, your filled with fear and dread as it lurches closer to your location… It’s hunting you; For what reason? You’re not really sure, but it definitely has bad intentions for you… 🫵
