FINALLY got around to dumping Spotify after their CEO continued to prove he's a fresh turd. (As if being a billionaire, not paying musicians, shoving AI garbage at us, and having an atrocious carbon footprint wasn't bad enough, he's now the chair of a AI-based weapons manufacturing company.)

I used TuneMyMusic ($24 annual fee you can cancel immediately, effectively paying only once) to transfer almost every single song from our Spotify account to Tidal. Tidal already has much better sound quality and they pay their artists much better. It migrated over 99% of our music, too, so there wasn't a huge loss.

I did this over in November when they gave Trump $100,000.

Tidal is incredible. Not only is it MUCH cheaper than Spotify, but the audio quality is much better. Artists DO get paid more, and their algorithm is actually coded by humans (did you wonder why Spotify Wrapped has been sucking, it's the AI).

You can download your Spotify playlists as .CSV files and then use a program to 'covert' them to Tidal. I used Exportify. It cost me $2 to transfer over 35 playlists and a total of 4,300+ songs. Two dollars.

Tidal's UI is similar to Spotify so you can jump right in and do the same stuff you've always done. You can make playlists, edit playlist covers, you have a discover daily, the mixes make more sense and are based on YOUR tastes, and to top it all off, did I mention it's cheaper?

And for those who drive a lot, it takes a lot less room on your phone and barely any data. I HIGHLY recommend making the jump!

I finally got my hands on Sunrise on the Reaping and needless to say I am unwell but my biggest takeaway right now is that Haymitch. Abernathy. Cares. So. Much.

All his little ducklings. He is CONSTANTLY saying things like, well at least if I can manage to do xyz, then maybe [Louella, Ampert, Lou Lou, Wellie] will be ok.

He is always thinking in terms of how he can help those around him, especially the little ones. He is so quick to dismiss himself and his value and then in the next sentence he's wondering how he can save a kids life.

This is NOT a contradiction to his characterization in the trilogy bc the trilogy is told from Katniss' pov and she is notoriously OBLIVIOUS to everyone else's actual emotional state much less their trauma projections and Haymitch at this point of course is no teenage lover boy anymore.

But still. He CARES. So much. He loves so deeply. The Haymitch-Katniss parallel allegations stand but the Haymitch-Peeta parallel allegations just got 10x stronger sir those are both your children oh my goddd

The fucking movie didn't just have Nani sing Aloha Oe to Lilo because it was a soft Hawaiian song

She sang it to Lilo because it's about the American goverment tearing apart the nation and her peoples by imprisoning and threatening Queen Liliʻuokalani and her people so she would be forced to hand over her homeland under threat of destruction

Its a scene about how Nani and Lilo's situation is a microcosm of the suffering of all of Hawai'i and her native people as colonialism is continuously perpetuated against the island

AND THEN THEY REMAKE IT AND HAVE NANI GIVE LILO UP TO THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT WILLINGLY AND FUCK OFF TO THE MAINLAND

Seeing articles come out from big publications defending the Lilo and Stitch remake ending with some faulty logic.

Lemme tell you what I think that means:

It means the online backlash is bad enough they had to pay some shills to put out good press for them. They're terrified the movie's further profits are going to be hurt, even if only slightly. That momentum will be slowed or even stopped and they won't be able to milk every sent of merchandising money out of it. Not to mention the racial/culture aspects of it are really, really embarrassing for a company that wants to be seen as pristine and totally woke as possible.

No mercy.
