The Groundwork For Jonsa, Political Jon and Dark Dany Has Been Set
Y’all when I tell you that this episode is a goldmine! I know some of y’all are freaking out but you don’t need to be. I’m about to break down the major tea/clue bombs that this episode just dropped:
First let’s get to the Jonsa tea:
Arya and Jon Snow’s reunion dropped the first clue bombs. So many people are annoyed with this dialogue when they shouldn’t be. I’ll dive into this in another post because I want to make this post quick. What I want to address is the dialogue. First thing that stood out to me was the fact that Sansa was brought up at all. In a scene that was supposed to be about Arya and Jon it was centered around Sansa and that’s a fact. Second, these line “she’s defending her family” and “I am her family too” screams so much subtext to me! Technically, yes, Jon is Sansa’s family but not like he thinks or like Arya thinks. This line speaks to the contention in their relationship now and how it seemingly seem like they’re on different sides because of their “tension” and also how the reveal of Jon’s parentage is ABSOLUTELY going to change the nature of their relationship!! Jon’s “I’m her family too” line completely had a double meaning.
The love triangle that was promised is flourishing. Let’s make this clear, Sansa and Dany are never gong to get a long and are never going to see eye to eye because they are not supposed to. I’m shocked, but to me this episode all but confirms that Sansa has feelings for Jon. Sansa was clearly jealous, vulnerable, and emotional all at the same time! She was teary eyed for godsakes. I genuinely believe that she was less upset about Jon bending the knee and more upset about Daenerys possibly replacing the role that she previously held in Jon’s life. Go back and rewatch the episode and you’ll visibly see Sansa getting upset when he mentions how much they “need” her. There’s a lot of angst on both sides. Jon’s heavy breathing, the stares between them, the pauses before anyone speaks, it’s all there.
Last but not least Dany’s mention of Sansa. (I’m not going to talk about Dany’s entitlement here because I will go into a full on rant.) There was an annoyance on Jon’s face before he turned to her. He clearly didn’t want to discuss Sansa with Dany. I also find it strange that this is another time where Sansa is mentioned without her being present…👀. She always seems to be the center of someone’s conversations.
All I’m saying folks is that the groundwork for Jonsa is absolutely there!!!
Moving on let’s get to Political Jon and Dark Dany. I’m grouping these two categories because they go hand in hand. I’m going to quickly list the things that stood out to me the most:
Dany staright up smirking when her dragons flew over Winterfell with the people cowered around her.
Dany’s veiled threat to Sansa.
Dany’s inability to see the bigger picture in terms of food nor offer any solutions to help resolve the issue.
Jon’s inability to defend Dany as a good Queen to his people.
Dany’s need to have respect and loyalty when she hasn’t EARNED IT.
The eerily weird Ygritte and Dany parallels of wanting to hideout with Jon Snow.
Jon Snow not reciprocating the desire to hideout with Dany.
Jon literally twisting Dany around and opening his eyes to get a better look at the dragons.
Dany’s total and complete lack of of EMPATHY when she told Sam about his family! She Truly Does Not Feel!!!!!
Sansa and Sam dropping truth bombs to Tyrion and Jon about what Dany actually is.
Jon’s staunch tunnel vision of wanting to defeat the Night King where he sticks to the narrative that he’s created about Dany and repeats this same narrative to Sansa and Sam even when he doesn’t truly believe it himself.
Jon’s Dany narrative completely getting annihilated when he learns the truth about his parentage and also with Sam dropping some major truth bombs, even though Jon tries to stay on “script.”
Jon literally saying “That’s Treason!” and Sam answering “It’s the Truth! ” Y’all this was probably the most important point in the whole episode!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are literally spelling it out in these lines and I think this went over people’s head. This is they way I see it. Treason=Truth=Dany and Jon’s song. The truth about their relationship is that it was built on a lie. Jon is the rightful heir, Jon will betray her, Jon will be her treason for love and that is the truth!!
I literally screamed when Jon and Sam said those lines! I’ll probably have more thought on this episode late on but this is what I took away. From this episode alone, I feel prettt good about where the story is heading and you should feel good too!
