@unflitered-thoughts-and-rants
Iām home from college this weekend and I was kinda hoping to have a chance to come out to my parents as agender/genderqueer but my grandparents are in town⦠I drove out somewhere with my mom and I was really close to telling her but I want to tell them both at the same time so I guess Iāll wait until summerā¦
I know theyāll be accepting. (Iām already out to them as Aroace and they both support LGBTQIA+ groups at their work and tell me about it all the time because they know I like to talk about that kind of stuff) Iām just still a little worried itāll change things, but I finally managed to work up the confidence to want to come out, but I guess it can wait.
I love wearing my aro and ace rings because it helps me find so many other aspec people! Newest encounter was one of my coworkers saying: āHey, Iāve been meaning to tell you, I love your rings!ā And then I was like āAwesome thanksā (not yet sure if she was commenting on their meaning). Then she said, āIāve been meaning to get a black ring for my right middle fingerā and when I tell you my face lit upā¦
You know what would be awesome? Living in a big house with a few of your best friends and watching movies together every night, cuddled up with tea and cookies. If an obnoxious relative pesters you about relationships, you can point to one of them and youāll all laugh about it later. If someone needs a plus one for a wedding, youāre all ready to go and if you decide you want kids, you can raise them together. Having people you can just exist with. Yeah, I think that would be nice.
The lyrics to the Conan Grey song āFamily Lineā remind me so much of Neil. Minus the sister bit:
āI say they're just the ones who gave me life
But I truly am my parents' child
Scattered 'cross my family line
I'm so good at telling lies
That came from my mother's side
Told a million to survive
Scattered 'cross my family line
God, I have my father's eyes
But my sister's when I cry
I can run, but I can't hide
From my family lineā
hey remember when Aled Last said "there's this idea that if you're not straight, you have to tell [people] immediately, like you owe it to them. but you don't. you don't have to do anything until you're ready" and Charlie Spring said "you didn't just force yourself because I'm out already?" and Tara Jones said "don't feel like you have to come out to anyone before you're ready" and Nick Nelson said "I'm not saying I want to have a public announcement, but I want to tell the people who matter" and when Geoff explained that Charlie getting outed was a trauma?
remember all that??
Yāall!!! I ordered my first binder. Just a cheap one from Amazon for like $20, but I love it! I have to pinch the bottom with binder clips because it looks like I have a barrel under my shirt otherwise, but I love how I look with it! At least until I have enough money to afford top surgery later in my life!
I just finished watching Good Omens and I want what Crowley and Aziraphale haveā¦
Wait yāall⦠the best friend I was talking about in the tags here just bought herself the Crowley copy of the Good Omens book and sheās sending me the matching Aziraphale copy. When I tell you Iām dying of joyā¦
Yāall⦠something has just occurred to me and reminded me why I love being aroace. I was just thinking about the free time I have between my work, college classes, and homework, and I realized that if I had to deal with a āsignificant otherā that would just be so much extra time and Iām glad that isnāt something I want. I need my personal time for my writing.
ever since 2019 when the pjo show was rumored, people have been saying āthe second i hear the percy actor say ālook, i didnāt want to be a half bloodā iām going to lose my mindā. that moment is now kids and i am doing exactly that
First time Iām able to share my pronouns aloud and itās to an entire class. I just want to tell my parents and my best friend but I can never say the words then š
I just finished watching Good Omens and I want what Crowley and Aziraphale haveā¦
One really awkward thing about being aroace is that I actually enjoy queerbaiting on a personal level. Obviously itās actually really manipulative/harmful/badā but. Two characters who are shown to love each other but not in an explicitly romantic way? Who can even live together and plan their lives around being with the other person? Itās sort of my favorite kind of relationship. And at least in my experience, this is one of the only ways it gets written, even though itās a total accident. Does anyone else feel this too?
Queer baiting is awful obviously and shouldnāt happen, but I 100% feel thisā¦
Solution: media creators should: stop queer baiting, depict actual well written queer relationships, AND give us some queer platonic type relationships that are so beautiful and make me so happy!
I don't understand the desperation to make the show's version of Annabeth blonde when it wouldn't make sense. Like, the "dumb blonde" trope only applies to white people with naturally blonde hair. In my opinion, her being black fits the point Riordan was trying to make about Annabeth being underestimated due to her appearance just as well, and more fitting for the time period we're in. Like, I have never heard someone bring up the dumb blonde trope in 2022, but black girls are still seen as less intelligent than their white counterparts.
Also, the gray eyes are unnecessary because it never really made sense for Athena to affect her appearance when the gods have no DNA.
Soā¦I might be agender⦠I havenāt decided yet and I really just want a label for me. I donāt really mind pronouns so Iām perfectly content to just let people continue to use she/her which is the pronouns Iāve used all my life and that people see, but I really just donāt connect with being a woman. Like I donāt particularly care but I just donāt connect. Agender is the label Iāve found that best fits what I feel. But for now I am good to not tell anyone because I want more time to figure it out before I tell anyone I know. But I do like processing stuff like this in writing and I basically use this tumblr page as my journal anytime I make a personal epiphany so here yāall go!
BUT: if anyone knows any YA books with good agender (human) rep (google has failed me) please drop a comment because I want to read some!
We had to read āNow sleeps the crimson petal) by Alfred Lord Tennyson for class. And the first time I didnāt realize it was about sex so I was like, āok no clue what this poem meansā. Then I googled it and it was like, āthis poem is about sexā and I was like, āohā¦ā. Then my professor spent 10 minutes of class going over this short poem talking about how beautiful it is and how itās all about carnal desire. And she read it aloud. And by this point Iām just totally disturbed and wishing I could walk out of the room. So now I dislike reading Tennyson even more than before. :)
Thereās something therapeutic about projecting onto a fictional character and writing the perspective of someone comforting that character.
