My Friend (Acoustic) - Brothers of the Head Soundtrack
680 South | The Story So Far
Cause all I want is forward progress. And maybe next year I’ll miss your face But right now it’s still worthless. Wasted time, mostly mine. It’s not my fucking fault. So get lost and find your way home.
Many the Miles by Sara Bareilles There’s too many things I haven’t done yet. Too many sunsets I haven’t seen.
I do what I can wherever I end up, To keep giving my good love, And spreading it around. ‘Cause I’ve had my fair share of take care and goodbyes. I’ve learned how to cry, And I’m better for that…
I'm so happy you liked my last suggestions ! I went to see Asaf Avidan in concert in april and they were amazing ! Even better live ! I've recently found this song : The Last Shadow Puppets - Standing Next To Me. I don't know if you will like it, but it makes me feel happy when I listen to it. Also : Likely Lads - Big Dreams. And The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build a Home. Hope you enjoy. xx
I'm not that big on vintage rock, so to say, but I did enjoy what you just submitted, especially To Build A Home... Such a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing :) xPs, you might have heard of The Young Veins, you might like them.
Band of Horses - The Funeral
Such a pretty song. Something in it makes me think it is very different from other music, somehow in it is special. The first time i heard this song I fell in love with it. The chords, the singing, the lyrics, all of it is beautiful. I think the song is well balanced, it's a very sad song, but sung with liveliness in his voice.
"The story in the music video for "The Funeral" is open to interpretation. On the surface it tells the story of a man whose dog has died. The black dog may symbolise depression. Saddened by his loss, the man drowns his sorrows in alcohol. He then drives under the influence and the end of the video suggests he crashes head-on into a delivery truck. Based on the style of cars in the video and the elevated railroad, it may be set in the 1970s and possibly in Chicago, as one scene shows a sign for the Galway Bay Bar, an Irish pub located in the Lincoln Park neighbourhood. Gotye - Don't Worry We'll Be Watching You
The experimentation is strong in this one... And that is one important thing that I like about artists. They have to keep evolving, because let's be honest, Hipsters drive the fashion forward, because most stuff that has ever been popular, had fans of it before it was cool. The people that invented it, and to be honest, even if they abandon ship when it becomes popular, they deserve a round of applause. I mean, even Dubstep was invented by them...
"As explained by De Backer in a 2010 interview: “I was depressed about the band and desperate to make music, but I didn’t see how a drummer could go solo. A friend came round, saw the records and suggested I try sampling them. To cheer myself up, I spent the evening sampling bits of The Police and Culture Club. It sounded horrible, but something sparked in me, so for the next few weeks I persevered. By the time I had finished one semi-decent song, I was hooked.”" -Interview with him.
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know
Now, this song I found a few days back through Tumblr, proceeded to fall in love with it, and buy his album. All justified of course. Unique sound? Check. Fit voice? Check. Slightly Depressing yet amazing lyrics? Check. Also, mind-blowing chorus.
"In his teens, De Backer formed the band Downstares with three of his high school friends, including Lucas Taranto who still plays in his Gotye live shows today. Downstares played shows mainly in the North-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and were noted for their song-writing maturity and assured live performances." -Wikipedia
Sliimy - Paint Your Face
Once again he displays some of his rather amazing vocal capabilities (Totally jealous of that...), but with a bit of a different background track. This time he is going for more of a indie-rock-pop sound kind of thing? Was that statement completely oxymoronic? Yes. Was it called for? Probably not.
"The album "Paint Your face" is out in U.S right now...It's a magic sensation to have the opportunity to share my music with lots of fantastic people...I want to thanks all the people here since the beginning, people with me, others who discovered a few hours ago. :) you give sense to my music..." -Sliimy!
Sliimy - Wake Up
Let's start today with something extremely cheerful, shall we? So I do present you with Sliimy, and I do admit that he is appeals to only certain range, seeing as how I know o many people with a rather large dislike for him after about 24 hours of me blasting this on my speakers...
Anyway, on to the song, Sliimy's voice is strangely... Ummm... Attractive I guess? It genuinely shows how he could be a real easy-going dude, easy to chill with and all that, and to be honest, after listening to some of his stuff, it seems that he might be one of the few people that start the day on a high note!
"There's something i like in Paris if you have an insomnia you can still order some Sushi at 4." -Sliimy...
Kate Nash - Nicest Thing
Lately it seems that I have been listening to lots of music that emphasises the voice, and this is a perfect example, as the repeating monotonous guitar progression (I think it's called that...) just kinda stays there and soon you stop noticing it... And then you fall in love with her voice. I man, even if the song is less upbeat and on the sad side, it still is a really enjoyable listen.
"Her music was used as part of an exhibition at the British Library tracing the history of Cockney English. The exhibition, which runs from 12 November 2010 through 11 April 2011, uses Nash's music to demonstrate today's younger urban mode of Cockney English." -Wikipedia (Not sure if an honour or an insult...)
Kate Nash - Birds
As a suggestion from http://physicsofaunicycle.tumblr.com/, Kate Nash is an amazing acoustic artist, with some rather lyrical songs, which at times can make you think, at times help you get through things...
As for the style, this may sound completely odd, the style kind of makes me think of a mixture between Jack Johnson and SoKo... I'm not even sure why, but the casual approach seen to be really working for her!
"Nash's debut was a single, "Caroline's a Victim" / "Birds", produced and recorded in Iceland by Valgeir Sigurðsson and released through Moshi Moshi Records in February 2007. The release was limited to 1,000 copies, and was available on only 7" vinyl. Due to demand another 1,000 copies were made and sold out." -Wikipedia
Suggestions?
Hey guys, sorry for the recent lack of updates, but also we are very welcome to more of your suggestions, seeing as it is hard work often find more and more of new stuff, especially since it seems that our listened band lists are seeming to run out...
So please, help us out a bit and send in a suggestion :)
Florence and the Machine - Between Two Lungs
This is a very calming song. When I am in a slightly bad mood I like to listen to this song. Makes me 'cool off'. In my opinion the rhythm is beautiful. The way the song starts is genius, a perfect introduction to a perfect song. Her voice is so nice and soothing, fits perfectly to this song. For me, when I listen to this song, I feel the lyrics, they get to me..and that is when you know a song is truly good.
"Much of the material on the album was written as reaction to what turned out to be a temporary break-up with Welch's current boyfriend. Welch says, "He prefers me not to talk about it. It's funny then singing about it." " - Wikipedia
Florence and the Machine - Dog Days Are Over
Okay, I am inlove. I think this is such an amazing song. I once heard it on the tv and ever since I was trying to figure out what it was, luckily I did find out. This is a very upbeat and fast song. At one point this used to be my favorite song, I used to sing to it all the time being a bit ashamed, since Florence is a taad bit better than me. Just one more thing - very catchy beat. I love it!
" "The name Florence and the Machines started off as a private joke that got out of hand. I made music with my friend, who we called Isabella Machine to which I was Florence Robot. When I was about an hour away from my first gig, I still didn't have a name, so I thought 'Okay, I'll be Florence Robot/Isa Machine', before realising that name was so long it'd drive me mad." " - Florence Welch
The Paddingtons - Sorry
Now this song starts out slightly slower than Panic Attack, but no worries, the good parts are coming. Again, the lyrics can be odd for some, but the super energetic music itself just makes up for it, and for the people that do not mind the lyrics/like them (me), it just seals the deal.
"First Comes First is The Paddingtons' debut album, released on October 31, 2005." -Wikipedia
The Paddingtons - Panic Attack
This a really energetic British indie rock band, with a pretty garage sound going for them, and it makes me love them even more for that. Now the song is somewhat odd/wild I guess, but id it suites you'r tastes, off you go, get their album, you will have no regrets.
"Known for their energetic concerts and loyal fanbase. In various interviews bassist Dobbs has said it is due to their willingness to play almost any venue." -Wikipedia
Joy Division - Isolation
This is a rather depressive song, especially if you listen to the lyrics. I think Joy Division is one of those bands which gives you goosebumps, takes your breath away and make you think about completely different things then you already are.
"Even as you search for people and you enjoy their company, nothing to compare to the joy of isolation and being by yourself, " - Internet
