I am already forseeing the Agnes slander once again and I'm here to remind y'all: these girls grew up here, and I imagine a lot of information is kept from them to keep them falling in line. Also they are still teenagers. She was scared, and her friend was clearly incredibly messed up from what happened. Of course she is gonna go to her dad, this is probably the first thing hes done to give her reason not to trust him.

I would've found it wildly out of character if Agnes had done anything other than what she did. She's been brainwashed since childhood into believing that her father has all the answers, that the men in her life are to be trusted above all. Of course she went to her father, and of course she believed him when he said Becka would be going to a doctor.

These girls are raised to be obedient to their fathers, then their husbands.

Though Agnes is slowly becoming aware of the insidious nature of Gilead, she still has a long way to go and that makes sense for her character! She's little more than the girl-doll in her dollhouse, picked up and moved around on the board to a spot that is more advantageous for the men in her life

Literally just got home from seeing it and WOW. Holy Shit. Incredible movie. Fantastic writing, great sound design, and a fucking knockout performance by Inde Navarrette as Nikki. Awards mostly despise horror so I doubt she'll get recognition there but FUCK she deserves.

I've always thought that discussions about how beautiful a character is belong to those tertiary characters who barely appear or are mentioned because that's the only or very little content they have about that character, but for a character like Arya, the female character with the most chapters, the third after Tyrion and Jon, to have this discussion and worse still, for it to be the only one about this character is painfully unbearable.

Arya has 34 chapters, she's one of the few characters who have foreshadowing about their participation in the Long Night, she has a large number of elements that exist only for her character like the Water Dance, the list, the Faceless Men, she has an entire city for her character development, she has parallels with her aunt, she's strongly linked to other main characters, she has a whole plot in Harrenhal, she has magical abilities like warging, even while in Braavos she still has an impact on the Riverlands and the North, and probably other places too. There are thousands of things to discuss about her character, seriously, find something more interesting to discuss.

And why do you guys even care what an 11-year-old girl looks like? Does it even matter when Arya is using other people's faces and clothes and playing characters that are very different from her own personality?

It's because they HATE how integral Arya is to the plot, so they try to attack her in any way they can so that they can feel better about their faves not being even remotely as important. And since Arya is a solid-ass character, they criticize her looks, which is wild since she's a literal child. You cannot control how you look when you're a kid, especially one in a society like Westeros. What you can control is your actions, which is another reason why they belittle her.

They hate that Arya's clocked injustice and rot within the royal/ruling class from the get-go. They hate that she has experienced real trauma and still come out of it with a good heart and an even stronger sense of justice rather than becoming a pessimist. They hate that her presence lingers in the Riverlands and the North, but ESPECIALLY in the North. They hate that she is the ONLY character to have a POV in all five books. They hate that Jon Snow gave up his vows for her. They hate that the men of the North are rallying around Ned Stark's little girl.

And it's the SAME SHIT WITH DANY TOO!!! They hate that this girl who suffered horrendous trauma from birth has still managed to keep her good heart. They hate that she brought the dragons back. They hate that she is a good ruler. They hate that she will be the princess who was promised.

I feel like I've posted countless times about how these two are vilified beyond measure. It's exhausting. They deserve better, and so do we.

when i saw the op's delusional take I had to step away from my computer and breathe in fresh air because JESUS CHRIST. The absolute delusional mindset they have.

No two female characters are more derided and more hated than Dany and Arya.

In the year of our lord 2026 people still think that dumb and dumber's version of Dany is what GRRM intends, and they love to use that terrible narrative as 'oh well Dany is bad so all Targs are bad'. It's fucking exhausting.

For anyone who's made it this far: Dany is the prince(ss) who was promised, and she will bring the Dawn with Lightbringer (aka her dragons). She is Azor Ahai, born amidst salt and smoke. She is The Savior of Planetos

Arya will reclaim the Riverlands, delivering justice and mercy in equal bouts, and she will give Mercy to Lady Stoneheart, but not before she is crowned as Robb's heir.

And eventually these two baddies will team up to save the world, because there are no two (female) characters George loves more than them. And I will stand on that.
