can you guys stop slamming back there i’m trying to parallel park this dragula and it’s tricky
is there another dragula that's not horror themed drag artists trying to win 100,000 dollars im so confused
If this is a genuine question and you’ve managed never to hear this banger, it’s Rob Zombie’s greatest hit.
For even more context, the Dragula was Grandpa's car from The Munsters
I...oh. I did not know that about the car. This. The song is different now.
That fact was always in the very back of my mind as I danced to it during Vampire The Masquerade LARPs. I gradually forgot. It's come back around in funny ways.
@identifying-cars-in-posts
The Dragula was a fully custom vehicle with a body built primarily around an actual real coffin, on a custom frame, powered by a Ford V-8!

cruelty is so easy. youre not special for choosing it
"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist; a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."
-Ursula K. LeGuin, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
"Evil is boring. Right? I kinda believe in the banality and mundaneness of evil. Evil is just selfish impulses, which at the end of the day are really easy to understand. It’s easy to understand why people do bad things. It’s like “yeah, ok, you’re selfish and scared and cruel, I get it”. Being good is complex and beautiful and hard." - Brennan Lee Mulligan
This is actually very normal human behavior. It's just that most people (in the USA) think "Jesus strengthens me" instead of "I am a pikmin, dandori time"
This is literally why stories and fantasy are so useful to humans. We cannot tackle every mundane challenge with enthusiasm, and facing against profoundly daunting tasks can be deeply demoralizing, and you don’t get to feel cool or heroic for filing 400 pieces of paperwork.
We arm ourselves with stories and fantasy, so that the laundry can become a charming hurdle to overcome, and the daunting stack of bills is the leviathan we the brave knights must slay.
Humans have always been like this. So many cultures have stories or mythology or even rituals about literally embodying another being better suited to the challenge one currently faces.
Stories are armor. Stories are fuel.
tbh shoutout to the over 40s on tumblr, sorry the internet acts like yall belong in the retirement home when ur literally just regular adults with hobbies
I was going to leave comments in the tags, but I decided this was important enough to put on main.
In college, my friend group collectively got into the SCA - Society for Creative Anachronism. They're the people who get really into medieval reenactment, the fighting and crafts and cooking, they have kings and queens and knights and events and a good percentage of them (but not all!) work or have worked at Ren Faires.
I am forever grateful my friends dragged me into that, because it was my first introduction to fandom in older adults. Middle-aged dorks. Elderly nerds. Absolutely as intense and weird and hilarious and fun as any fan in their teens or 20s. I started getting into fandom already knowing there was a road ahead for me as I got older, full of handmade costumes and late night movies and shelves of pewter dragon goblets and mixed-aged road trips to meet ups and conventions.
And it kills me that so many people don't know that sort of community even exists. On both sides, even! I went to Philcon a few years ago, which tends towards older fans, and an older woman I was talking to sadly told me that she thought fandom was dying out, because she never saw younger fans any more.
Over the past decade, there's been a really toxic movement towards keeping different ages strictly separated, both in and outside of fandom. There's this strong implication that if an older person wants to interact with a younger person, there is something inherently predatory about that.
Yeah, that attitude sucks. That drive towards separation and puritanism sucks. Declaring that younger people should have nothing to look forward to and that older people should stay separated and lonely sucks. It sucks and we are all worse for it.
Don't fear age. Don't put an age limit on having fun. Give yourself a damn future.
Beverly passed away in 2019, but she was one of many of my favorite, elder cosplayers that frequent DragonCon and remind all of us to keep playing as long as we can.
the thing that’s obnoxious about a lot of age gap discoruse is that it feels less about curbing out potential abuse and more the fear of getting old/being around older people, particularly when stops even being about actual relationships and just older people being AROUND younger people.
like people saying it’s “creepy” for older gay men to go clubs that also contain younger gay men or people saying it’s “suspicious” for older people to go to all-ages concerts. which i don’t know, just isn’t a healthy way to live considering that if you actually go outside you’re going to find your self around people who are not in you’re immediate age range and your going to have to deal with that.
unfortunately for hot young people, ugly old people actually do a lot of work to keep the world running, and we like to do things for fun on the weekends like emerge from our crypts for a drink and some music
Wait, wait, this is what the age gap discours is mutating to? Well then gosh, the folks concerned about people older than them … existing and doing stuff should go create their own “under X age” events. Where they will have to work with people older than them because people who run clubs or venues are older. Oh, and the bands who would be playing those all-ages concerts are probably older than the people saying it’s “suspicious” that older people would attend, therefore it’s suspicious that the band would be there, right? I am too old and too tired for this nonsense.

"I can't believe my 50-year-old parent accidentally saw a weird meme on google image search" okay your 50-year-old parent used to get stoned in their dorm and watch ren & stimpy. your 50-year-old parent's first concert was the pogues and shane mcgowan threw up on their shoes in the alley after the show. your 50-year-old parent saw a double feature of porky's and the exorcist at a sleepover when they were nine. your 50-year-old parent was left alone for three hours every day after school and they found ALL the porn hidden in the house. one saturday in 1985 your 50-year-old parent drank water from the hose and then saw a dead body in the woods
Critically their 50-year-old parent never asked them to explain any of those things
Some of the 50+ people are HERE on TUMBLR.
However, I frequently use the ancient meme speak to offend my teenage goddaughter.
Cringe started as a verb describing a physical reaction, i.e.: "I cringe when I see [x]."
Modern slang has turned cringe into an adjective describing anything to which a person might have such a reaction.
.
This shift in language is illustrative of a shift in culture.
.
For a while there, in the early 2000s, there was this big sex positivity movement and we talked openly about kink and queer sexuality and creating a culture of consent that broke away from traditional conservative ideas of moral respectability.
And now we are in the midst of this giant purity culture backlash, this giant push for rigid conformity all over the internet. Anything that deviates from the norm even remotely is ridiculed.
And this cultural shift is perfectly encapsulated in this singular linguistic shift, this verb becoming a noun.
The Revenge of the Pearl Clutchers
That's what "cringing" is. It's pearl clutching.
When the pearl clutchers turned cringe into an adjective, they turned a reaction into an accusation. The pearl clutchers don't want to take responsibility for their own kneejerk emotions. They want to blame YOU.
They are saying, "My disgust isn't the fault of my own backwards prejudices. It is YOU who are inherently disgusting. My inability to cope with even the slightest deviation from norm is not the problem here. YOUR refusal to rigidly conform is the problem. I am not the one who is cringing. YOU are the one who is cringe."
Fuck 'em.
.
Take the word back.
Cringe is not something people are.
It's something judgmental assholes do.
This. THANK YOU.
this is the representation nepo babies deserve
I think it's important to know, there's an older picture of David signing stuff, with his father-in-law WHO WAS THE FIFTH DOCTOR, holding a very similar sign behind David's back. I don't have the pic, but you can probably find it if you look a bit.
Ruby Bridges is 68. This is not ancient history. Not even close.
I know Ruby. She's a really nice person. The idea that they would try and write what she did as a girl out of history is shocking to me on so many levels, the simplest of which is just, but don't they know how lovely she is?
We live in a dystopia....
If the background actors don't come in for work because they exist virtually then the background costume and background hair and make up and their catering and transport and all the other departments that look after them get cut too. These things have knock on effects...
god gives his coolest girlfriends to his most loser reddit bros
Yeah, yeah, he's an asshole, but the important question here is WHERE THE HELL DID SHE GET THE ANGLERFISH NIGHT LIGHT?!?

You don't have to understand someone completely to respect them and fight for their right to exist.
a friend of mine has been saying "de-escalate all conflict that is not with the enemy."
we have real, life-threatening forces to fight back against.
We stan!!!!
chaotic good
There’s a happy ending to, because the robbery was unsuccessful, the couple ended up getting the money Eden needed from a movie inspired by em! Also John only had to serve part of his sentence. Check out their wedding photos btw they’re beautiful.
reblogging because I’ve seen this post a thousand times and I’ve never seen the happy ending!!
watching the 2018 milwaukee ballet production of dracula and y'all the dracula/jonathan pas de deux is amazing
it's beautiful and creepy and sensual and horrifying all at the same time
crap, i don't know enough dance terminology to make this coherent, but the way they've been utilizing going en pointe in act 2 is fascinating. like, aside from when they're doing turns and stuff like that, all the women are walking around on the flat part like regular people. but then dracula bursts in and everyone is down in the dark except lucy, who is now on her tippy toes and basically floating across the floor to him in a trance and the contrast is so eerie
also i just realized it was mean of me to talk about this without telling anyone where to watch it. here's a link to the official video from the milwaukee ballet account's @ Home series https://vimeo.com/469873929/5ee47dee00
continuing the trend of being both sensual and beautiful and horrifying, the drac+lucy pas de deux is also fantastic.
also, repeated theme the way dracula just kind of flings them around at times, like they're not dance partners but just toys to be played with and literally tossed aside. in the jonathan one he just like yote him 15 feet or something crazy across the stage, and in this one he's just positioning her like a ragdoll, the choreo is so good
agh no no no i hate this! D: lucy! :(((
looking forward to and dreading the drac+mina one if they're all gonna be this good but also upsetting lol
oh good, an ensemble mourning scene, that's cool that's fine i'm handling this gracefully
oh damn, though, she does feral really well too. cool thanks this is a great place for an intermission because i'm feeling totally emotionally stable (:
