The self-taught Japanese artist carves, sculpts and paints delicate lollipops into intricate edible sculptures. The sighing from Hoseok barely registers to his own ears over the sounds of Bigbang pounding from the sound system. Epsilon Xi Omicron prides itself on having the best speakers on frat row and right now they’re giving Hoseok a headache. He rubs at his temple, pushes his way through writhing bodies to try and find his stupid boyfriend.

Well. Maybe not boyfriend. His…guy? Friend? That he does stuff with. Sex stuff.

He has no idea what they are, okay, don’t pressure him.

He jumps a bit at the feel of a hand accidentally (he hopes accidentally) coming across his ass, and he sighs even more but keeps up his search. It’s been three days. He kind of needs to see this jerkface.

Min Yoongi, junior jerkface, stands among a small crowd outside the house. He’s grinning and talking to someone that Hoseok doesn’t recognize and working on tapping a beer keg and Hoseok is weirdly attracted to him right now. The whole backwards snapback, oversized varsity jacket, holey jeans thing isn’t normally what Hoseok goes for; he has no idea how he and Yoongi have wound up as a thing.

No, actually, he knows exactly how. 

The thought brings some heat to Hoseok’s face and he adjusts his glasses in the hopes that it might hide his (admittedly miniscule) shame. He calls out to Yoongi, a couple of times, then gives up and circles around to tap him on the shoulder. Yoongi jumps, but once he realizes it’s Hoseok his grin comes back tenfold.

“What’re you doing here?” Yoongi asks rather loudly, leaning in to speak directly into Hoseok’s ear.

Hoseok tries not to actually shiver at the feeling. He shifts to put his mouth against Yoongi’s ear in return. “I finished my paper early, thought I’d come say hi to you and your frat friends. Is that okay?”

“No, yeah, definitely okay,” Yoongi says. He smiles a little softer, then takes Hoseok’s hand to pull him along.

They wind up in a room upstairs, alone and slightly quieter so they don’t have to shout. Hoseok tries not to think about all the hookups that’ve happened in this room before they claimed it; he sits on a desk chair instead of the bed.

“So hey,” Yoongi grins before taking a sip from his beer cup.

“Hey,” Hoseok says. “Um. I didn’t want to pull you from your friends, I just wanted to see you. I won’t stay long; I’m pretty tired.”

“Oh.” It surprises the hell out of Hoseok to hear disappointment in Yoongi’s tone, to see it all over his face. “Okay, well…I’m glad you came by. Nice to see you out of your study cave.”

“Nice to be out,” Hoseok says.

“We’ve got hover cars now,” Yoongi says. “Pretty sweet. Our president’s a sentient iguana.”

“Crap, I missed the rise of the lizard people?”

Yoongi laughs quietly and comes closer to Hoseok, then leans against the desk. They don’t say anything for a moment, though Yoongi leans his leg against Hoseok’s, and Hoseok doesn’t move away. It makes sense to Hoseok, though. They never know just what to say to one another with clothes on. Hoseok bites his lip, then glances to Yoongi.

“So, anyway, um. I feel like I crashed the party.”

“No, no, open door policy and all,” Yoongi says. “And I invited you.”

“Kind of.”

“Kind of,” Yoongi chuckles. “Listen…Hoseok…There’s this thing and I was wondering if maybe you’d wanna go with me?”

“…Are there more details about this thing?” Hoseok asks.

“I was getting there. It’s a fundraising thing.”

“And you’re asking me?” Hoseok raises an eyebrow. “Are you high?”

“Surprisingly no,” Yoongi says. “And you’re my last resort.”

“Wow, thanks.”

“But also first resort. I didn’t ask anyone else.”

“Oh.” The flushing feeling gets even warmer, and Hoseok stares down at the floor to keep from grinning too stupidly. “Well. I mean, okay I guess. As long as I don’t have homework to do.”

“You…are such a nerd.”
