this is a white woman in western europe, a whole ocean away from the continent her ancestors raped and pillaged and colonized. god knows sheâll probably never step foot on any reservation or indigenous community here in her life. she will never suffer under the colonialism and imperialism her country enacted and continues to enact to this day. she doesnât have to worry about whether her cousins have clean drinking water, or functioning infrastructure. whether her father will be assaulted or brutalized by cops for looking âethnicâ. she will never see a family friend living on the rez murdered and her body dumped in a river, her death ruled a suicide, and feel her absence forever at every gathering onward.
