Something that bugs me is wod people treating hunters as this evil other cartoon bad guy that's just out to destroy all supernatural!!11 just because!!! They're evil and they hate gay poeple and they hate gay vampires!!1 es[ecoa;;y Like it feels like such a disrespect to the setting and especially since HTR is it's own splat!!! full of nuance and complicated people. Maligning hunters as this ontological evil and supernaturals as harmless meemees when that's not the case at all for power difference. The masquerade isn't to protect the poor harassed vampire, it's keep their exploitative society on the downlow. Werewolves don't have a litany law because they're hapless victims, like.

Hunter is an equal setting worth respect and understanding n should be more than a villain of the week.

I couldn't agree more. While I do think that Hunters make for good, compelling antagonists, you genuinely have to remember that few people become Hunters because they want to - they are almost always, without fault, a victim of the supernatural first.

And yeah, I do think there's a certain knee-jerk reaction to root for supernaturalse, but again, Hunters wouldn't exist without supernaturals abusing humanity, each in their own respective ways.

And the question of morality in Hunter is just delicious. There's no Beast, no Rage, no "other" force in you goading you to lose control.

Just you, and where you want to draw the line in the sand.

I do think the Bloodlines 1 was an excellent introduction to VTM politics in that most chronicles will have you, as a fledgling player, be heavily brainwashed towards Camarilla or Anarch bipartisan bullshit depending on the circumstances of your Embrace, but VTMB1 showed that Camarilla vs Anarch is largely a false dichotomy whose antagonism is largely a method of self-sustaining the other's existence and identity. They are the core and the periphery, but they're all still part of one system. Vampires in both factions share the same interests, concerns, and structures just with different trappings. The real "outsiders" aren't Anarchs — it's the Sabbat, the Kuei Jin, and the Autarkis like Beckett and possibly the player character.
