I love being surrounded by books. I've been slowly rearranging my hoard, finding places for the precarious stacks, and it's been wonderful. The texture of their covers, the hiss and rustle of pages, the smell of them. All the gorgeous artwork. All that knowledge and passion and creativity.
It extends beyond books, too. Over the years, I've amassed a trove of various things. Books, art, plushies, charms and standees, countless stickers, a tiny collection of vinyls, myriad knickknacks and curiosities. I've long accepted that I will never be a minimalist, and I think my aesthetic will always lend itself toward chaotic eclecticism. The sort you might find in a shop of curios and used books. A history of my interests, whether fleeting or enduring. It's comforting—grounding and freeing all at once.
The internet is wonderful in so many ways, and I love it for all the good it's brought me and all the connections I never would have made otherwise, but it doesn't sustain me the way the physical does. There's magic and sustenance in tactile things.
Lately, instead of a final scroll at night, I've been digging into the next chapter, cracking open an artbook, sketching. Sometimes I light a candle, make some tea. There's usually a cat or two for snuggling. Especially now, it feels so important to find things for grounding, rest, and enrichment.

every day I learn bot comments on ao3 are stooping lower and lower
anyway if you get a comment like this, chances are that they are bot and their goal is to do whatever it takes to get you to delete your work, most certainly (from what I’ve heard) it’s because they want to “safely” steal your work, use it to train their ai without you being able to rightfully claim ownership of your work since “there’s no proof that the work was stolen/was posted elsewhere first by you” because the original source has already been deleted.
THEY ARE ALL BOTS. at first it was “ao3 is deleting fics and your entire account will be affected unless you delete the fics yourself” then it was “this work contains contents that are illegal and they have already reported you and your fic to the police” (yes, that’s how desperate these bots are), and now it’s this.
report their comments to ao3 for spam—in this case, specifically, I think you may be able to report them for harassment too—and don’t pay attention to them, most importantly don’t delete your works, don’t feel discouraged by their comments. remember that they are bots and they mass comment something like this on people’s works at random to get people to delete their works. (or even if they’re not bot, they are still pathetic bullies who don’t deserve your time or attention.)

I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more 😌
I drew his body first, and it was a pain because I quickly realized, holy shit, I'm not used to drawing metal. I like muscles, not mecha, goddammit. And then after a long time, I finished, and I was like, wait. He's basically nakey. Cue a few more hours of drawing his clothes and all the little accessories. But he's done for now 😅
Next is animating!

ATTENTION ARTISTS OF TUMBLR
since tumblr is going to start scraping blogs to train ai be sure to glaze and nightshade your art!! Not only will both of these programs protect your art from being copied but nightshade also poisons any ai that tries to steal it
here is some more info on these tools and where you can download them:

Stuff kids on tumblr better relearn
1. You are responsible for your own media experience.
2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.
3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.
4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.
5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.
6. Content creators are not your parents and owe you nothing, not even a breakdown on why their content isn’t problematic. You don’t get to demand a dissertation denouncing any and everything unhealthy in a piece you don’t like. Move on.
7. Tagging is a nicety but not an obligation. You can message people, politely, and ask them to tag things, and many people will, but understand that it’s their blog and they aren’t obliged to say yes. Unfollow and block when you need to. Circling back to number 1, you are responsible for curating your own experience.
8. Don’t be a jerk. Remember at the end of the day, there are actual living, breathing people behind each screen name. Don’t say anything you wouldn’t say to someone’s face in real life.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to remember this.
