Finally getting some time to draw again after being out of town for so long~ working on some head sketches for a character from some of my books~ just to get a better feel for drawing him~

Take a sketchy sketch of a bby bone girl and the bone dog that has been named kyo~ he was her pet and she keeps him after death by reanimating his bones~

Found a drawing a did sometime ago when I got my first copics, I forgot I even had this one. I like the design of the character though, it's softer than I usually prefer but it's pretty. I've been getting more into thinking about my watercolors again so maybe I'll try and do a painting based off of this design~

So this is one of the characters that I created while I was gone, I know the pose is pretty plain but I was just trying to create her outfit first so I wasn't really concerned about that, I have some other sketches of her that I'll show you guys later of more active posing. She probably one of my new favorites~ I'll tell you more about her as I post the other drawings of her~

Hey guys!! Sorry I was gone for so long, I know I was supposed to be back last week, after my midterm, but I had a friend come visit me from out of town so I wasn't really able to post like I was supposed to. I hope you all are doing well and I'm really excited to be getting back to posting~ while I was gone I got to visit a mall not too far from where I live and they actually had this installation peice of origami butterflies hanging from the center area. It was so cool to see and it was so so so pretty~ makes me think maybe I should have tried something other than cranes for what I'm working on but too late now :P thank you all for sticking around while I was gone ^_^

I find it kinda odd how people talk about writing “flawed” characters like the flaws are an afterthought

Like “cool cool we’ve got this perfect hero now to just sprinkle on some Irritability and Trust Issues then microwave for 6 minutes on high until Done”

But I’ve personally found it feels a lot more useful to just… think of the flaws as the Good Traits except bad this time

The protagonist is loyal? Maybe that means they have a hard time recognizing toxic relationships and are easily manipulated by those they want to trust

The hero is compassionate? Maybe they work too hard and overextend themselves trying to help people and then they refuse to ask for help when they need it themselves for fear of burdening others

They’re dedicated to their ideals? Maybe they’re also too stubborn to know when to quit and they have trouble apologizing for their mistakes

If they’re creative, they can also be flighty. If they’re confident, they can be arrogant. If they’re brave, they might be reckless. If they’re smart, they could be condescending. Protective can become controlling, and someone who’s carefree could very well also be emotionally distant

In my opinion, the best “flaws” aren’t just added on afterwards. The best flaws are baked in deep, ‘cause they’re really just virtues turned upside down

shading colour tips

hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty

rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD. 

red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple

orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red

yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach

green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal

blue- shade with purple

purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)

pink- darker shade of red

white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol

grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)

brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red

aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!
