i think everyone who is worried about their skill doing content in ff14 should watch an ultimate world race. if you have ever felt like shit for not immediately understanding a mechanic you've never seen before, you will be Spiritually Healed watching the absolute best players in the world spend multiple hours and 20 pulls just to make it 25 milliseconds further into a fight. you will watch people just completely fuck mechanics that they have successfully done 30 pulls in a row for no other reason than they're tired and their brain shidded. no matter what your skill ceiling is, the trajectory of gaining competence follows pretty much the same arc. be soothed

On this day, October second, in 1968, the Mexican military, advised by the CIA, opened fire on a massive student demonstration in Tlatelolco, Mexico City. To this day, the exact number of deaths is unknown, with the US claiming 44 deaths, the Mexican government 200, while the most likely number being 500+ deaths. While its the most publicized massacre carried out by the Mexican military, it was far from the only one, with this being only one of many massacres committed during the US-backed "dirty wars".

To this day, the Mexican government continues to suppress all forms of dissent against the state, mostly towards leftist and indigenous people. They either use the military and police directly, putting down protests with extreme violence, or by collaborating with cartels. The most famous example of this was the massacre of 43 student protesters in Iguala, Guerrero in 2014. The current president is part of this apparatus of repression, with armed forces directly under her command terrorizing and kidnapping civilians and killing local union leaders working on federal projects.

With the world cup coming up in 2026, and student protests getting bigger every month, there is always a chance of another Tlatelolco massacre taking place. It would, however, only be one more chapter in the long history of civilian massacres committed by the state apparatus that has governed Mexico since the end of the "revolution."

Riot police opened fire on the rememeberance march this past Thursday, as they have in other years. However, this year was more violent than most, continuing the acts of repression against protests by the mayor of Mexico City. It's no secret that tensions in the capital and the country as a whole are rising. Now is the time to organize, not just for protests but our communities, towns and cities as a whole.

So what was the phase 3 secret?

there are several mechanics in phase 1 that have an intuitive, easy solution, but also have a less intuitive solution which plays against the norms and expectations of ffxiv raid gameplay. to unlock phase 3, you have to do all of these mechanics the "wrong" (less intuitive) way. if you've done it correctly, kefka's voice lines at the start of phase 2 will change and at that point clearing phase 2 will unlock phase 3
