Verity let out a chuckle, “But outdoor ice skating is so much better. It feels more authentic.”

The woman’s joy was practically contagious, and Verity found herself beginning to smile and be excited along with her. “What’s the purpose of the pill?”

“I mean–I have to bake a whole one for anyone to have a slice–but like–are you saying you’re honestly only gong to want ONE slice of my cake?”
“I haven’t tried your cake, so I couldn’t say.”
phoebegrant:
“Yeah? I mean–who doesn’t want cake?”
“But a whole cake? Who’s even capable of that.”

“It got approved! My pill passed human trials!” The scientist exclaimed in pure excitement, running towards the figure standing in the hallway, still in her lab coat.
Verity stood still as the figure ran toward her, confused yet intrigued. “Human trials, hey? Good for you.”

“Nice save. I appreciate the effort. Maybe if you try hard enough you’ll get a gold star.”

“I don’t think many people are with strangers.” She murmured, meeting gazes with the woman. “Sorry but no-can-do. Patronising is my default state.”

Verity jumped at the sudden feeling of a strangers lips on her cheek, flinching away almost immediately and shooting her an annoyed look.
“Did I say I needed comforting? Or that you could touch me?”

Uh – ask at reception. That will probably be your safest bet.
“Would you mind at least showing me where that is? I don’t do a lot of traveling.”

“What?” Nora said looking up at Vierty. “Uh–I don’t know? You just got here. We’re not exactly in our normal home in case you didn’t notice.”
“Obviously I noticed that. It’s a lot easier to get to New Zealand than Los Angeles from Australia.” Verity replied, biting the inside of her cheek. “So you don’t know where my room is?”
“Yeah, charming. Just tell me where my room is, please. I don’t have time for this right now.”
