You know, I've seen manuscript abbreviations that looked like text-speak, but hand-drawing emojis to stand in for the word ceann (head) in a passage about Cú Chulainn being beheaded is taking that all to a new level

Manuscript is RIA 23 H 10, Oidheadh Con Culainn, written in 1808.

He just keeps doing it. Every time somebody gets beheaded in this text, the word "ceann" gets replaced with 😐 And a lot of people get beheaded in this text (thanks Conall), so this happens a lot.

Guys, it’s been a really incredible run.

I have met some of my absolute best friends on this website, and I even met my husband on here (I’ve also met some truly awful people on this plaform, too). December 11th will mark 11 years since I made my first blog. Tumblr isn’t the same anymore. All the fun metal band fan blogs I followed have mostly vanished, and almost all of the people I truly liked either have deactivated, or I’m friends with them on Discord and I speak to them nearly everyday.

I’m really honestly too unc to be around here anymore. I’m married, I’m expecting my first baby in April. I think it’s time. I’ve said that before but I really am ready to leave now. It feels kind of stupid to be sentimental over a blog, but I am. Tumblr gave me a place to go and be myself when I couldn’t IRL. I literally made this blog back in 2014 when I was lying in bed next to my extremely awful, manipulative, emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend. I found refuge here so many countless times over the years, and so many different fun, niche communities and friends on, and I won’t ever forget that. But I need to be off my phone and be present for my son, and I need to cut down time spent on social media.

To anyone who I hurt or spoke crossly to: I’m sorry. To all my mutuals who made me laugh and who I made laugh: I’ll miss you.
