If youre a closeted person somewhere out there thinking "I want to transition but it would be less progressive/unique/countercultural for me to be that gender instead of this one" please know that you are a real person not a character in a narrative and cant live your life based on what is good media representation. You are real you can only be yourself and theres no moral weight to any identity over another
Liberal transphobes enjoy positioning trans identities as regressive compared to cis queerness or like non-transitioning transness or anything else they can leverage to make transphobia look progressive and I think its easy to absorb that message subconciously. But in real life we just are what we are and no ranking of validity can change the fact that you have an identity that is NOT chosen and is just your unchangeable truth. it’s so magical and beautiful that there are sprawling interconnected cave systems carved deep into the earth by various geological forces and you don’t have to go in them. there are miles and miles of stone passageways in total darkness that require you to exhale all the air out of your lungs to squeeze through parts of them and you don’t have to be there. some of these squeezes are underwater and require cave divers to take off their oxygen tanks and push them through ahead of them and me i am above ground looking at the sky as we speak. there are untold subterranean wonders no human has ever seen and i will not be the one to discover them #grateful #blessed

It wasn’t an old house, by Arkham standards. Not a gable roofed relic nor a sturdy stone monument but a tidy, high-roofed thing, with a front porch and windows on both floors. Once it’d been loved, I’m sure, but like most humans I’ve met, its cheer had faded with age and abuse. Cracks instead of curtains in the windows. An old rotten fence, the gate broken open. The front door, twitching and shaking on its hinges, half open to me already.
Somewhere, not too far away, music played, too far away to catch all the notes, but familiar all the same. Nostalgic as childhood sunshine, and just as bittersweet.
This story is set in an abandoned house and does not use the word abandoned once, apparently. Wild.
