[Spirit Box Radio finale spoilers]

In all seriousness spirit box radio has ment the absolute world to me for literally years at this point, and while today isn't how I would have wanted it to go, being named like that in the finale episode made me so emotional I had to stop and sob for a bit.

Watching Sam learn to accept himself as he is and learn that accepting yourself doesn't have to mean that you can't change and grow, and watching Eira grow into themselves as a creator is an experience that I don't even know how to put into words, but it means so much to me.

The way this story ended, not with Sam accepting the violence others wanted for him, but by letting how much he loved the people around him very literally change the world, is the most calming and statisfying ending I could ever want for these characters I've come to love just as much as Sam does (honestly more, it's a little unhealthy, don't worry about it).

And that's saying nothing of having a main character not just be casually queer, but actively progress their transition without it ever needing to be justified or explained (and it wasn't a 'for inclusion' plot point, but a reaction to a real life trans person living their best life!), which was just so healing to listen to.

I have gained some incredible friends through this fandom (one of whom is coming to my wedding next month?! love yah hun), and every day is brightened by the little gay people in my phone talking about this show, or just living their lives.

For real I could just keep rambling about this forever, but I'll leave it there for now. We were the forum ghosts all along, love you guys. Stay Spooky.

Gentle reminder here that there are elder queers out there. Real elders, people in their 80s and 90s who survived, who are here. You can get there, old age does exist for us.

I know an old lesbian couple who have been married since the moment they legalized it. One woman can hardly walk anymore but she loves Hallmark ornaments, so her wife supports her against her walker during Christmas so she can look at them more easily.

I know a transgender man who started transitioning only 10 years ago at 60, and he's brilliant and funny and brings his grandchildren by to get sweets.

I know an asexual woman who, beamed and told me she absolutely loved not having a husband, and that she "never once regretted not getting married. I never felt that way about anybody! Why force it?" She lives with her parrot and loves salsa dancing.

Our elders exist. So many of us have been wiped out and erased on purpose, but we're here. And that means you can get there. When you're old and grey, when you're retired and done, there will be people who will love you and will care for you.
