Hey, Powerpuff Girls. THIS is how you bring back a 90′s cartoon.
OH. MY. GOD. This looks absolutely PERFECT.
Please, please, PLEASE keep tumblr away from this show. I want this so badly, but I don’t want tumblr anywhere NEAR it.
Oh my God it’s perfect. It brings the show to modern times while retaining the style and sense of humor.
They paid an exquisite amount of attention to detail in order to bring this property back over two decades later in a way that looks as if there was never a break in time. THE ROCKET IS STILL THROUGH HIS HOUSE.
You know what? I bet that’s exactly the route they’ve taken to LITERALLY bring these characters from the 90’s into 2017. They’re going to carry over the ending from the episode of the show where we see Filbert and Dr. Hutchison’s kids as adults (for those who haven’t seen it, the episode quite literally leaves Rocko, Filbert, Heffer, and Spunky decades in the future, having never physically aged). The writers created the perfect scenario for this reboot to happen over 20 years ago.
Fuck yes. Tumblr better keep it's grubby hands away from this one.
sometimes things that are expensive…….. are worse
Makerbot.
Child rapists do deserve death, however I wonder if the killer here deserves the burden of killing. I think this is where most moral arguments against death penalty originate. A child rapist deserves to be killed, certainly, but who undertakes that responsibility to kill? The killing does justice, but does it or does it not violate the killer? Is it worse or better? Should one be prioritized? Does it matter? I’m posing the question because I’m interested in what everyone has to say.
If a man kills a child rapist, is this wholly wrong or wholly right? Partially wrong or partially right? Practically wrong or practically right? What is everyone’s honest thoughts and opinions on this topic? I’m purely curious, I’m not arguing either view quite yet.
I have literally zero compunction against killing child rapists myself. Were they advertising a job of putting those miserable animals down I would go home without losing a wink of sleep.
I however, do not do it myself because the law is the law, and justice must be met constitutionally.
why are people mean to Steve Buscemi? People literally go to live events and tell him he’s ugly and freaky to his face. Why would you ever do that? Steve Buscemi has never done anything to you. Steve Buscemi is really nice. He does volunteer work. He used be a firefighter. He was the best man at Stanley Tucci’s wedding. There is literally no reason to be mean to Steve Buscemi.
steve buscemi was piloting his own helicopter and airlifting people out of hurricane katrina’s aftermath before the national guard even showed up he’s such a good dude
Always reblog for good guy Steve Buscemi.
immediately after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York in September 2001 Buscemi returned to Engine Co. 55 and spent several days working lengthy shifts with other FDNY firefighters (without publicity), helping to sift through the rubble of the destroyed World Trade Center:
Well. One of my best friends had multiple organ failure. Liver, lungs, and kidneys. I'm speechless at how it came to this, because he was told a multitude of times he needed to quit drinking, and that his liver was hanging in on by a thread. But he didn't listen, and now is likely he'll be shaking hands with death. I love him like a brother, and I am praying constantly he will live through it, but I am so angry right now that he made this choice. It tears me up inside that he's going through this, but I'm worried most about his mother. The poor woman's children are both knocking at death's door with substance abuse. Pray for them, please. Especially for the mother, as she is going through unimaginable heart ache.
soooo…free college?
>implying handing people free shit is how you solve something
That’s what the thing said?? Like how are people going to have more educational and economic opportunity. Surprise! The government most likely the states will pay for it.
Not to mention that this is laughable considering that conservatives do everything in their power to defund education AND erase opportunities for education.
Prager"U" is just a capitalist propaganda mill. Counteract their bullshit, but don’t think for a second that it represents their intent.
Talk about empty balderdash. What’s their intent? They’re a non-profit organization. I’m not sure what their intent would be other than what is stated directly in their content.
But this thread of comments does say a lot about the leftist psyche when the first thing they gravitate to when hearing a particular idea is “but is it free?”
Also, in classic ignoramus fashion, @fuckconservatards @ask-tovolar @thecomicsnixlegacy lays out the stupidest strawman argument for conservative education reform: “conservatives want to defund education.” It is a complete misrepresentation of the conservative position on improving education and they only throw it around because they can’t overcome our actual policy position…because they are intellectually dishonest people.
Let me help you out because these Prager U graphics seem to be too simple for the far left to comprehend apparently. The word “opportunity” is key as in allowing more people to gain the opportunity for a better education or a better job.
In regards to education, a conservative wants to allow students in failing school districts to have the opportunity to attend schools outside of their crumbling district that will provide them a better education. On the other hand, progressives, who are controlled by school union doctrine, continue to fight to trap students in the same shitty schools based on their address and hope that throwing more and more money into these failing schools and the teacher unions that oversee them will somehow improve their plight despite decades of evidence to the contrary.
Regarding jobs, conservatives understand that, economically speaking, relieving barrier to entry by eliminating costly regulations, licenses, and taxes is the best way for promoting entrepreneurship in poor economic communities and thus allowing businesses to flourish which in turn will provide jobs to the downtrodden. This economic prosperity will then lead to better economic outcomes far exceeding any poverty program the government can cook up at the taxpayer’s expense. Contrarily, progressives just want to continue to redistribute money from the haves to the have-nots in order to keep them in perpetual poverty while simultaneously patting themselves on the back for looking like they’ve accomplished something morally righteous by stealing from people and then using the money to socially orchestrate the lives of their indigent inferiors.
Medieval castle stairs were often built to ascend in narrow, clockwise spirals so right-handed castle defenders could use their swords more easily. This design put those on the way up at a disadvantage (unless they were left-handed). The steps were also uneven to give defenders the advantage of anticipating each step’s size while attackers tripped over them. Source Source 2 Source 3
Not really the best illustration since it totally negates the effect by having a wide open space for those ascending. Castle tower staircases tended to look like this:
Extremely tight quarters, with a central supporting pillar that is very, very thoroughly in the way of your right arm.
Wider, less steep designs tend to come later once castles moved away from being fortresses to simply noble family homes with the advent of gunpowder.
Oh! Pre-gunpowder military tactics are my jam! I don’t know why, but this is one of my favorite little details about defensive fortifications, because the majority handedness of attackers isn’t usually something you think about when studying historical wars. But strategically-placed walls were used basically worldwide as a strategy to secure gates and passages against advancing attackers, because most of the world’s population is right-handed (and has been since the Stone Age).
Pre-Columbian towns near the Mississippi and on the East coast did this too. They usually surrounded their towns with palisades, and they would build the entrance to the palisade wall in a zigzag – always with the wall to the right as you entered, to hinder attackers and give an advantage to the defender. Here’s some gates with some examples of what I’m talking about:
Notice that, with the exception of the last four (which are instead designed to congregate the attackers in a space so they can be picked off by archers, either in bastions or on the walls themselves) and the screened gate (which, in addition to being baffled, also forces the attackers to defend their flank) all of these gates are designed with central architectural idea that it’s really hard to kill someone with a wall in your way. In every culture in the world, someone thought to themselves, “Hey it’s hard to swing a weapon with a wall on your right-hand side,” and then specifically built fortifications so that the attackers would always have the wall on their right. And I think that’s really neat.
Ooh, ooh, also: Bodiam Castle in Sussex used to have a right-angled bridge so any attacking forces would be exposed to archery fire from the north-west tower on their right side (ie: sword in the right hand, shield on the useless left side):
These tactics worked so well for so long because until quite recently lefties got short shrift and had it trained (if they were lucky) or beaten out of them.
Use of sword and shield is a classic demonstration of how right-handedness predominated. There’s historical mention of left-handed swordsmen (gladiators and Vikings), and what a problem they were for their opponents, but that only applies to single combat.
A left-handed hoplite or housecarl simply couldn’t fight as part of a phalanx or shield wall, since the shields were a mutual defence (the right side of the shield covered its owner’s left side, its left side covered the right side of his neighbour to the left, and so on down the line) and wearing one on the wrong arm threw the whole tactic out of whack.
Jousting, whether with or without an Italian-style tilt barrier, was run shield-side to shield-side with the lance at a slant (except for the Scharfrennen, a highly specialised style that’s AFAIK unique.) Consequently left-handed knights were physically unable to joust.
There’s a creditable theory (I first read it in “A Knight and His Horse”, © Ewart Oakeshott 1962, 1998 and many other places since) that a knight’s “destrier” horse - from dexter, “right” - was trained to lead with his right forefoot so that any instinctive swerve would be to the right, away from collision while letting the rider keep his shield between him and harm. (In flying, if a pilot hears “break!” with no other details, the default evasive direction is right.)
The construction of plate armour, whether specialised tournament kit or less elaborate battle gear, is noticeably “right-handed“ - so even if a wealthy knight had his built “left-handed” it would be a waste of time and money; he would still be a square peg in a world of round holes and none of the other kids would play with him.
Even after shields and full armour were no longer an essential part of military equipment, right-hand use was still enforced until quite recently, and to important people as well as ordinary ones - it happened to George VI, father of the present Queen of England. Most swords with complex hilts, such as swept-hilt rapiers and some styles of basket-hilt broadsword, are assymetrical and constructed for right handers. Here’s my schiavona…
It can be held left-handed, but using it with the proper thumb-ring grip, and getting maximum protection from the basket, is right-handed only. (More here.) Some historical examples of left-hand hilts do exist, but they’re rare, and fencing masters had the same “learn to use your right hand” bias as tourney organisers, teachers and almost everyone else. Right-handers were dextrous, but left-handers were sinister, etc., etc.
However, several predominantly left-handed families did turn their handedness into advantage, among them the Kerrs / Carrs, a notorious Reiver family along the England-Scotland Borders, by building their fortress staircases with a spiral the other way to the OP image.
This would seem to be a bad idea, since the attackers (coming upstairs) no longer have their right arms cramped against the centre pillar - however it worked in the Kerrs’ favour because they were used to this mirror-image of reality while nobody else was, and the defender retreating up the spiral had that pillar guarding his right side, while the attacker had to reach out around it…
For the most part Reiver swords weren’t elaborate swept-hilt rapiers but workmanlike basket-hilts. Some from Continental Europe have the handedness of my schiavona with thumb-rings and assymmetrical baskets, but the native “British Baskethilt” is a variant of the Highland claymore* and like it seems completely symmetrical, without even a thumb-ring, which gives equal protection to whichever hand is using it.
*I’m aware there are those who insist “claymore” refers only to two-handers, however the Gaelic term claidheamh-mòr - “big sword” - just refers to size, not to a specific type of sword in the way “schiavona” or “karabela” or even “katana” does.
While the two-hander was the biggest sword in common use it was the claidheamh-mòr; after it dropped out of fashion and the basket-hilt became the biggest sword in common use, that became the claidheamh-mòr.
When Highlanders in the 1745 Rebellion referred to their basket-hilts as claymores, they obviously gave no thought to the confusion they would create for later compilers of catalogues…
Also, muskets had their whole “Flint and steel and gunpowder” thing on the right side so if you tried firing it lefty you’d get a face full of fire. More recently, rifles eject their spent shell casings to the right, so if you’re a lefty you get some hot metal in your eye.
Ooooooohhhhhh this is so very cool and nerdy!

people shouldn’t have to pimp themselves off to the military to afford college wtf
They don’t…lol
actually almost every teacher i’ve ever had has suggested joining the military because they’ll pay for college and almost half of my class is either doing it or considering it but i hope that rock you live under has air conditioning
Eh, it gave me work experience in a field I'm interested in. Just don't expect it to be fun. $80k of student loans I don't have to take, and I can go to school full time for three years because they give me $1500 a month on top of paying for my classes. Certainly not for everyone but it's a good way to get your higher education paid for if you're like me and didn't qualify for any scholarships.
The power an EF-5 tornado can do, a piece of wood through cement.
Oklahoma the place where paper beats rock.
I feel like there should be some context as to why that wood could do that. You see, that right there is a rare, straight specimen of bois' d' arc (or Osage Orange if you're Texan) wood. It's normally very gnarled and twisted, and thorny. However it's got one key feature that makes it so fucking awesome.
It's literally saturated with sap. Not just any sap, but the kind that you can use as motherfucking epoxy. This wood, once cured, CANNOT be cut with a plane, not to mention the fact that it eats pocket knives for breakfast. The only way to work this wood when it dries is to sand and rasp it into submission. This stuff is so fucking hard it can be used for barbed wire fence posts for at least a century, and still be an absolute bitch to replace after all that time.
So essentially, that spike could very likely and very easily skewer a car in a tornado. Fucking scary ass nature.

All these people saying “if im 10 minutes late yo work, i could be fired! Therefore i would run over and kill a protester. ”
1. Be mad at your boss, not the people protesting 2. You know you cant keep your job if you go to jail for murder yeah?
if a doctor is late for work because you’re holding them up with your protests it could legit kill someone but hey throw more fuck trump tantrums or whatever it is adult babies do
Do you have any evidence that this had ever happened ever? Also, what? You want the doctors to run people over?
maybe it hasn’t happened yet, but knowing you sociopaths it will happen now where did i say they should run the people over? children shouldn’t be playing in the street in the first place, but you think someone dying because you would rahter block traffic is fully justiied? cool, always knew “fandom” bloggers were insane
the point is being late for work has far reaching consequences for people who work jobs helping others. do you care? doubt it
So you admit it has never actually happened. Theres no proof it has ever happened, and no reason to think it would.
And like, yes, people have consequences if they are late to work. Sometimes even more consequences than cops get when they fucking shoot people. Ya know, the kind of shit people are protesting.
Also, nice ableist language. Just couldnt help yourself, huh?
good to know you support ruining peoples lives by making them become homeless because you won’t move out of the way of their cars for them to drive past
Do you have any evidence of anyone becoming homeless because they were blocked by a protest? Ever?
You can literally call work and say you’re being blocked by a protest….
It still creates issues at work. You wontd get paid, if enough employees are blocked from work, those that managed to make it will be overworked. The place of employment will probably not make the funds they need to make that day, which, even if it was just for a day, can still SEVERELY affect them. Hospitals especially are already understaffed, and anyone arrive late because some fucking entitled, arrogant protesters think that their actions can’t possibly have negative effects, could mean life or death to some people. I literally don’t get how people can be this dense
My friend’s parents almost lost their business because of protests. They have a business in NYC on the same street as Trump Tower. When the protests happened around the election, business cut so much that they almost didn’t make rent for the month. Luckily, things dissipated and they just barely made it. If they couldn’t make rent, there was a real possibility they could have lost their business. This was also true for a lot of different mom and pop businesses in that area.
Protests can block employees from getting to work and that can hurt employees in a big way. But, it can also block customers from getting to businesses or disincentivise them from going to those businesses. Protests can hurt employees and employers. It can ruin businesses and that can cascade down to many people.
So, if you’re going to have protest, plan intelligently so you minimize risk for those who are not involved. Don’t block employees. Don’t block business owners. Don’t block customers. Only effect those you want to effect.
not to mention you will tank any chances of more people supporting you/your cause that way seriously. have some fucking tact. you’re allowed to protest, but dont expect people to like you if you interfere with their everyday life in a potentially devastating way like that
If you’re a protestor on the highway now, you best watch out. There are many laws being put forth to release drivers from legal and civil liability if a protestor is an idiot and stands in the center. Play stupid games get stupid prizes. Oh BTW there are multiple cases of you liberal fuck nuts getting in the way of emergency vehicles like ambulances. One such instance had a baby in critical condition on the way to the hospital. So fuck off, the lives of children and innocent people are far more valuable than some idiot standing in the middle of the road and shouting. The children certainly have far more potential.
