The Russian military’s laughable performance in Ukraine has, I think, extremely strongly confirmed my years-old thesis that it’s actually preposterous for anyone to think that only the US is the guarantor of Europe’s security and that all the NATO countries need to pump up their military spending to 2% of GDP or higher.

Russian conventional forces were not even able to advance past Kiev, I don’t think Germany and Greece and Italy need to build giant tank armies so they can meet the Russians at some cataclysmic 21st Century Battle of Warsaw or whatever US security state ghouls are imagining. That’s never happening.
