This video is of my space, my observation post space is my backyard. Walking through each part of my backyard, from the deck, to the lower part of the fence line and around is what I take you around. It is darkish, but the deck light and my flashlight help with the scenery. Also, the trees and leaves make the light come through better so people can see the space.
Out in the Sticks
When I started the video I was onto the deck where my original picture or post began. If you listen to the video all you can hear is me walking and the wind. When first starting the video in front of me is the pond. To the right is an airstrip that you can barely see because of the sun as well as because the pond is to big to really see it unless you walk over there. I chose to not go over there because with rice season going on I wasn’t sure if a plane would actually land. I went to the left and to the left of the pond is a ditch where you can see water is being let into the pond. I tried to get a shotgun shell in the video but you can’t see it. The shells are from workers who shoot skeets over the pond. As I continue to walk to the left of the pond there is more water further left. That is a rice field that has been harvested and now is flooded. If you look straight in from me behind a big tree are the Sutter Buttes. It is hard to see them in the video but they are there. I chose to name this Out in the Sticks because literally nothing is around me about agriculture and nature.
I chose to take a video of myself and some friends walking to my space rather than of my actual space. I did this to show what one might have to go through to get to my space. While walking to my space as you can see there are so many rocks you have to jump over and climb. All the jumping and climbing is hard work for some people like me but it is fun. While walking you can hear the water flowing by, I did show some parts where you can look over and see the actual creek; I did this to show that walking to my space is not all rocks and trees. It may not look as nice but once at the actual spot of my space it’s a beautiful view. The couple that passed by were actually really nice people. As I said before my space is a good place to hang out with friends or just relax, you can meet people and have a good time. Right after I stopped recording we met more people and we all just hung out swimming and having a fun time altogether.
P.S. I had to cut the video because the file was to large.
Keyword Repost
And here it is the last post I will ever be writing for this class. I can truly say I enjoyed this class and the how I was able to open up my mind while discussing in class. Even just writing these observation posts left me in touch with myself and taught me to look at spaces with more depth than meets the eye.
I chose to write about the first one I reblogged which was almonite’s City of Bears. I picked this post because I liked the title. Haha no really it was catchy. But mostly I loved how talked about how a space can evoke emotion. Its funny because I actually didn’t realize this myself until I took this course. He turned a popular bar into a warm opening place that he felt like he belonged in. He talked about how the props and and people made it feel like a welcoming place instead of just a ‘space’. This is so relatable because places are way more than just a place for your body to occupy. He depicts that every space is a place of purpose. Anywhere you are has the ability to be an important space to you. Its how you depict the place. Places don’t have emotions, you’re the human who has emotions. You choose what kind of emotions this place can have or you.
The second post I chose to reblog was shelbyraley’s. I chose hers because I loved her personal definition of comfort. Not to mention her space happens to be my own living room as well. She was completely right about the area being the backbone to us. Like I previously stated its you who defines what kind of emotions you can evoke from a space all depends on your perspective. I love the explantation she gives to why she chose that keyword.
The keyword I chose to describe my space is comfort. I chose this word because over the past 15 or so weeks, these posts have made me realize that my bedroom is where I feel the most comfortable with myself and also my surroundings. My bedroom has every piece of me because I decorated it with…
The keyword that best describes my room is “mood.” There are many other fitting words I could think of that would suit my room but I think this is the best one that applies to all the aspects of my room. As I have said in many of my previous posts, my room is a very versatile space. It is…
I find my space to be a good place to go if I want to escape the stresses in my life. If I am worrying about school or anything else I am able to walk across the lawn separating our apartments, and spend time with my closest friends. We listen to music and watch shows on Netflix. Sometimes we will…

My Happy Place
I thought this was a cute drawing of her space. It shows a simple point of view of her space. The simplicity of her drawing also indicates how she sees her space and what is important in her space. She describes things in her space with a fondness only a person has that is comfortable and familiar in a space. The caption is fitting with her personal thought of the space; as a reader it is obvious she likes her space. The lines that mark where something is not so much a boundary but as a physical reference to where things are. The little music notes are noticeable and show that music is a part of her life.

This one was super interesting because it's a different kind of setting; it was a themed map. The rectangle shows where the space is at and the little islands near are places this person visits throughout the day such as the bathroom. The space is simply drawn but with some pizzaz in the outside. It's like it's almost saying "adventure is out there" or what an adventure it is to leave your room, or it could show the person's perspective to how she views the outside compared to how comfortable and familiar she is with her room.

Our Neck of the Woods
I enjoy the creativity to the titles of these maps. The caption shows the reader that this person is about to descirbe something she considers hers. This one is slightly more complicated than the others. There is much more included in this map that this person considers their space. This person not only has more in her map but she describes her familiarity with her space and how easy it is to envision her and her family having a gathering in her backyard.

Our Neck of the Woods
My space, as you can see above, is my backyard. My backyard is me and my family’s neck of the woods. It is the usual place where my family engages in certain activities. It consists of the typical features backyards have: back porch, grass, and a fence surrounding the space. There are a few features like the pool, garden, bbq and grape vine structure that are not as common, but complete the backyard. This space is about an acre big and the sizing of each feature on the paper doesn’t do it justice off the paper. It is easy to feel the vibe of my space from being able to determine what my space consists of. As an example, it is easy to see the family getting together for a bbq and imagining my dad cooking burgers on the grill, while the kids are swimming in the pool and the adults are sitting on the back porch relaxing. With the space being closed off with the fence surrounding it, this space is considered private because only my family and whoever we invite into our space has access to it.
X Marks the Spot.
For my space, I chose to produce a map in the form of a treasure map. Although the original and plain outline of my room exists within it, I felt as though creating an outline in this way might better present to the audience the feeling or atmosphere presented by the space that—from the allotted, general bird’s-eye view—may not otherwise be conveyed. In short, there is very little that occurs in my room by itself. As depicted, in it resides a simple bed, desk, and chair. To me, it provides a solitary area wherein I can escape from my surroundings and relax. By rendering it within the form of a treasure map, the juxtaposition of the simplicity of my space contrasts with that of the chaos of the surrounding area. The other areas of the apartment (e.g. the bathroom, the kitchen, etc.) are presented in the forms of islands because they’re unincorporated in the space that I chose to observe—they’re separate entities that, whilst they reside in the surrounding area, don’t necessarily pertain to my space. The “x” on the map leads to the bed because it serves in the primary purpose of the room: to relax, and I felt as though this was the best method to convey that to the audience.
My Happy Place
I drew my map from a birds eye view because I think it best depicted the way that I organized my space and which areas mean more to me. I kept it true to scale as much as possible and added in small details of items that mean the most to me. I added in a coffee cup, candles and my record collection because these are things that make my days happier and objects that are constantly a defining part of my space. I think this map shows how open my space is, but also how it’s a cozy and comforting place to pass the time.
Bird's eye view of my space.
Konkow Hall House 1 is significant in my area because it's where i live and my space is right behind my room. I consider the field next to it because there's always something going on there. Also there's a fence covered in vines that separates my space from the field. Up would be from the vent on the bottom left in the grass to the sidewalk approaching the bike racks. This view shows all the trees and brush where the animals hide and whatnot.

Silence is Golden
This was in a way too much silence for me; although, the white noise sounding recording is much at fault with that. I can understand how the silence is golden and it can be relaxing. Silence is what some people want. For me, there has to be some level of noise. Although not an annoying kind of noise, more like a hum or noise i can block out. i can understand how people would ask why i like noise if i'm just going to block it out, but the point is that i don't like eery silence.

Spacial Observation 2
I think it's interesting how she imagines the bird's conversation are like. When she describes the how much noise the tractor's are making, it reminds me of how much i like quiet. There's a reason why quiet is in the phrase "peace and quiet". I like how she distracts the noises around her before actually going into her feelings and thoughts on those. I described my surroundings and the noises with my thoughts on how they made me feel before actually describing. When she was talking about the guy with the loud truck i did hint a bit of annoyance which from her description is understandable.

Serenity in Between
I like this one out of the others i reblogged because there's quiet but there's also some noise. It's balanced with quietness and loudness. It's an interesting caption because there are moments when it is quiet and peaceful but there's also moments of movement and action that can be heard in this recording. Whether the person finds serenity in peace and quiet or in some noise, this recording has a sort of balance to both. The loud car horn was like an interruption of serenity that is happening.
Serenity in Between
I could hear students unlocking and locking bikes as their classes were winding down. There were small groups of students having quiet discussion around me. The occasional car would drive by and I could hear the sound of the tires on the asphalt. The blaring car horn that disrupted the peaceful serenity around me. As class let out there was a rush of students leaving the building. The doors were opening and shutting, there were many footsteps from students eager to leave. The rush of people moving from one place to another almost overpowered the beautiful nature around me. As the traffic died away and students dissipated, nature once again was the main sound around me. I could hear birds singing above me and the wind whispering through the tall tree tops.
