If you all will allow me a moment to analyze the competition as it exists, there's something interesting going on with the numbers.

As we all know, thanks to the support of the good people of Tumblr, Tylenol has experienced a meteoric rise to second place. Even though her competition is stiff, I believe in Tylenol's ability to go the distance.

But let's take a look at the competition:

Elmer seems to be a lovely boy. I have no qualms with Elmer, and think he would look fantastic on a beer can. But what about Elmer's campaigns? Who is the power behind the throne here, and how have they managed to find such breakout success on this competition?

A handful of wealthy donors are trying to buy this competition.

At the end of the day, all donations are good donations here. This is a charity event so every penny earned is going to help animals in need. But it's not lost on me that Elmer's current ranking is thanks entirely to a few individuals with the financial means to put their thumbs on the scale.

Tylenol's donors, comparatively, are small and numerous, mostly $1-10 donations from many passionate believers in what she stands for (autism and pain relief I think).

Overall, the donations tell a very different story than what the base ranking shows you. Elmer is held aloft by just 24 donors and bolstered by a few wealthy patrons, whereas Tylenol has won the hearts of literally hundreds of people. Even the current third place, Abby, owes her ranking to numerous small contributions rather than one or two large ones.

Now that the lead dev of silksong has publicly come out, I can share this funny story.

So, back in october I was at a monthly trans meetup just chatting with the other women there. We were talking about how all the best games are made by transfems, and I made the joke that someone from team cherry needs to transition. One of the other women cackled at my joke. At the time I didn't think anything of it.

Fast forward one month. The person who cackled at my joke brought a friend with her this time. I was chatting with this new girl for a while, getting to know her, as you do.

After like an hour of chatting, the conversation turns to silksong and team cherry. I casually say "My impression of team cherry is that they're all really chill dudes," and I swear to fucking god the girl next to me says, "Yeah, we are."

Cue me being absolutely dumbfounded. I actually couldn't believe that my offhand joke from a month ago was real.

Anyway that's how I met the lead developer of silksong.

Jester is in love with Fjord, who has feelings for her too but also he was seduced by and slept with an evil cult leader, who was also the ex of his father figure, whose accent and mannerisms Fjord was mimicking while sleeping with her. Also the evil ex flirted with Beau, who then got her killed and stole her clothes. Beau was growing feelings for Yasha but then Yasha turned evil and had a dead wife so Beau slept with Reani (who was also attracted to Caleb and Essek) and developed a crush on Jester and then Yasha came back and she reciprocated but also she too may have had a crush on Jester, and also she invited Veth into a threesome with her and Beau. Caleb also has feelings for Jester and they never really went away and he thinks Fjord is really hot and he's being hunted by his two evil exes from his old polycule (who he's maybe planning to murder so he can use their bodies to fake his parents' death but none of them ever got over each other) and his best friend (who was married before she died and came back wrong) is in love with him and his feelings for her are more complicated than can be described in words and she’s the most important person in his life and he isn't necessarily in love with her but he is jealous of her husband. He and Essek were honeypotting each other for information but then they really liked each other but then Essek was evil and Caleb projected on him like crazy and now they grow green beans together. Molly flirted with everyone and slept naked in his and Fjord's room, but also all three instances of him expressed attraction to Caleb specifically and who knows where that would've lead had he lived. They’ve all seen each other naked (to search each other for evil eyes). Caduceus is there, eating popcorn.
