~Get to know me~
This is me, I guess. As my description says I'm 24 years old and I'm a cis bisexual boring woman, lol.
I wanted to create this post to introduce myself. This is kinda weird, cause I don't know you but I was the kid that everytime they got asked three things about themselves would go completely blank.
Who am I then? First impressions matters and I don't even know the impression I have of myself so this is like writing a book review without actually reading it and expecting the teacher to buy it.
People say I'm quiet, so that's an starter. Silence is like an armor, right? You get quiet and people don't get mad but you also miss a lot. You are a bystander in the life of everyone who's not afraid to show their colors even if they're wrong and that's the beauty of authenticity and identity. So that makes another thing about me, I'm afraid of being whoever I am. What a paradox, huh? Being afraid of something I don't even truly know.
Social anxiety was strong on me but I'm more social now. However, writing this whole thing feels dumb. Like, who's even gonna waste their time on reading it? It sounds pretentious af.
Anyways, I like to think that humans are a reflection of all the people they met. Like a collective piece of art. A canvas that people would paint with their presence. A white canvas filled with others signatures, art, music, games, books and everything that culture shaped us into.
If I had to do this thing of seeing a character and saying: "yup that's me" I'll prolly go with Eleanor Vance from Shirley's Jackson The Haunting of Hill House.
(🚧 SPOILERS AHEAD 🚧) Eleanor goes to the house cause she felt like this was her moment, a call and inside the house she finally feels seen for the first time and doesn't want to let go. To be seen, to be heard, to be listened to. I do share this craving. All the analogy with the cup of stars. Both the book and Netflix adaptation alway manage to break my heart. (🚧 END OF SPOILERS🚧)
I studied art in high school and always loved to draw during class, I have tons of portraits of my teachers. Now I'm in college and I keep doing the same (some things never change, lol).
I'm studying translation cause I want to become a high school teacher. People who teach with love for their profession and give kids an space to grow and be themselves are true heroes. I want to give my future students a safe-space too, to make them feel seen and heard which is what almost every teenager wants as they grow and start to form their identity.
I started learning English back in school (I'm from Spain) and I've never struggled with it cause it was funny. In high-school it became a priority when with my first laptop I discovered the world of horror indie rpg games. So I'll play the ones without translation, researching the words I didn't know about to fully understand the story and not mess up with my choices.
This lead us to videogames. My favorite series of videogames are:
-Professor Layton
-Syberia
-Bioshock
-Mass Effect
-Remothered
-Alice games (from American McGee)
So I'll love to know people here in Tumblr that share my interest for this gems. I like making decisions that can affect the story so recommendations are more than accepted. My Steam library is filled with games like this.
I also love to read. My favorite book is The Name of the Rose and I also like Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Huge Harry Potter fan (can't say the same about its author). I love the fandom, people is very creative with art, fanfics and doing something great of it. My house is Hufflepuff and my favorite character is Severus Snape. Another thing about me is that I love complex characters. There's a huge difference between character and person. I love Snape character but I don't support or justify all his actions.
I like drawing since I have memory. In high-school I have my anime era and that made me draw a lot on the style of those artist. My favorite character back in the day was Uryuu Minene from Mirai Nikki. If I recall good she was very badass and he character had an interesting arch. Since then I only watched some episodes of SpyXFamily, Jojo's Bizarre Adventures until Josuke's arch and yesterday I've started Jujutsu no Kaisen cause a friend told me I would like it, so I'm following his advice .
If you ask about movies and series I'll say I'm a huge fan of animation. One of my favorite movies is Persepolis. I truly admire Marjane Satrapi and her way to portray her story. Talking about people that I admire and films there's also Hedy Lamarr who is probably the woman I see as a reference since back in high-school when I had a science project and my mother talked to me about her. Back to animation I'm also a huge fan of Disney movies, Treasure Planet is my favorite. I love how Jim's portrayed and I saw a lot of myself on him. Also Captain Amelia is such a badass.
Other movies from Disney that I also love are Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Princess and the Frog and Aladdin. The villains in this movies are top tier for me. Hellfire in spanish with Costantino Romero's voice? Literal chills. And Javier Gurruchaga ate it with his version of Friends on the Other Side.
This also takes me to music (there are more movies that I love but it would end up in a never-ending post) wich is a funny topic cause I guess it's the white girl music for me. My ex hated me putting my playlist on his car while driving. Once he shouted in frustration that it was like "the damn Beverly Hills Chihuahua ost" since then I've baptized my Spotify playlist as Beverly Hills Wh*re, which I swear sounds funnier in spanish. I also enjoy listening to classic music while reading, specially if I'm on the train or the bus.
So well, that's basically a lot of things about me or some of the pieces of the puzzle I am as a human being.
I left a lot of things and fandoms I'm on so I'll probably would tag them instead of making the post even larger. If you read everything and you don't think I'm that pretentious at all, leave a comment or DM me. I'm mostly using Tumblr to make new friends that share my interests!
Bye bye for now~!
