Every time a fandom has an anthro bird character, there is always NSFW of said character in which they have a cloaca, since birds have cloacas. Thats fine. Nothing wrong with that.

What pisses us off, though, are the amount of comments we see talking about how it is "weird and gross" to write about "animal genitalia."

Humans born with persistent cloacas exist! These people already experience unnecessary IGM on the basis of their cloacas! They don't need to be dehumanized and insulted on top of that!

Animals can have penises and vulvas, does that make them "animal genitalia"? No, because humans can have them too.

Additionally, a lot of intersex activists think that surgery on persistent cloaca is 100% necessary every time, but it is actually only necessary if the person has poor sphincter control (which most doctors dont even bother to check before throwing a kid into surgery)! And even when it is necessary, they still try to make the genitalia as perinormative as possible, separating the vagina and urethra unnecessarily, when the only canal that needed separation was the anus.

Here is a link to our more in depth post about a woman who had "untreated" persistent cloaca and was a healthy adult. The doctors even said in their own study that they don't check the sphincters of children before operating!

This is intersexism.

I don't think the furry or anthro community can ever be normal about intersex bodies I fear, and this is a very good example of this. Furries normalized knots long ago, but a cloaca (the only genitalia that humans actually have) is going too far?

The amount of misinformation and disinformation on how cloacas work and how people with persistent cloacas are demonized, called disgusting, and worst of all are forced into unnecessary surgeries is horrific. Thank you so much for the resource, more people need to learn about these normal human bodies.

We've also seen furries being weird about humans with diphallia (because wolffipathian snakes often have two penises), humans with penoscrotal transportation (because wolffipathian kangaroos have a scrotum in front of their penis), and pseudophalluses (because mulleripathian hyenas have pseudophalluses)!

You know I'm less into the scenario of the veil falling and magically waking up as a Big Fuck-off Bird (although still a very common daydream) and more into the idea of managing to mad genius myself into a semi synthetic bird monster body. I just think it's hotter if my species euphoria comes from vivisecting myself into something new. It makes ppl seeing the result all the more thrilling bc there's this component of societal self mutilation to it, of why the hell would you WANT this. Plus it means I can get weird with it. Semi metallic giant bird monster ripping open its chest to show that there's still a human body in there. You can try to touch it if you want, there's still nerves. But I mean, I might also just grab you with my butcher knives sized talons if you try, your call.
