What is Amazon Trail? Amazon Trail is a community-oriented, lesbian-centered, contempt-free Discord server where you can make new friends and find out more about women's/LGBT festivals happening in the USA. Amazon Trail was founded in 2023 after I (a 20-something lesbian feminist) attended my first festival, had my life changed by the experience, and subsequently made it my life's mission to get the word out to every lesbian I could. As of 2026, we have ~350 members ranging in age from 18 to 75.

Inside the Discord server, you’ll find this and more:

the list of 30+ womens/LGBT festivals happening in 2026 throughout the USA

a Help-Desk channel for organizing ride-shares, asking questions about camping, and finding scholarship opportunities

an Ask-An-Elder/Ask-A-Younger channel

a Personal-Ads channel (our Lex alternative)

a channel for sharing stories that could only happen at fest

regional meetup channels (around 17 different states/cities and still growing!)

a few hundred friendly lesbians (and a handful of bisexuals)

Some of our goals include:

to uplift each other by raising awareness of and participation in established women's/lesbian cultural traditions (e.g., womyn's festivals, Women's Music)

to educate ourselves about women's and lesbian history

to combat lesbian loneliness by facilitating year-round online and IRL community

to foster open dialogue. The more we talk, the more we realize we have in common, and the less alone (and the more empowered) we become

The festivals are an amazing time. Picture hundreds of sapphics making new friends and creating their found families around campfires, playing in drum circles, attending lively workshops, making art, going to concerts, and even falling in love.

We don’t think of social media as infrastructure, but it is

I know we are all doomers about tech right now and I really do get it. But my frustration with these social media sites isn’t “they exist and it’s bad for society”. My frustration is that I see all the good that comes from them and then I watch that be stripped away day by day by the profit motive. I’ve seen so many people go from homeless to stably housed using social media. We’ve organized clothing swaps and native plant restoration projects and land sharing programs. People meet friends and loved ones, people to be family with. And people to protest with, and struggle with, and build the world they want to see with. I watch all of this get harder as scams become more common, as ai bullshit overtakes every communication, and as algorithms channel us more towards staying angry, scared, and on the phone rather than helping us connect.

Social media isn’t the issue. Honestly, I see it as an important infrastructural pillar of the world we want to build. The ability for mass-to-mass communication has so much liberatory potential. the issue is profit. The issue is money. The issue is capitalism.

After all, heterosexual men are not considered manhaters nor heterosexual women, womenhaters. So why are lesbians as a group perceived as manhaters?
