Name Change!

This blog has officially changed from ‘TheLyricalQuill’ to ‘WanderersLyric’! :) ‘TheLyricalQuill’ will still be used to publish my writings (whenever I muster the courage and dedication to post them. XD) but ‘WanderersLyric’ will now be my main.

This blog will be an eclectic assortment of information based on my current goals and interests. As a person heavily interested in world history, religion and spirituality, many of these posts will feature topics such as: Hellenistic Polytheism, Kemetism, Hermeticism, Demonolotry, Tarot Studies/Practice and Divination. I will also blog about social issues, travel, arts, literature, music and entertainment (which includes classic literature and Tolkien’s works which deserve their own mention. The Silmarillion is my BOAT, my favorite Book Of All Time. 💕)

This is a safe place for everyone. Be aware, absolutely NO hate or abuse will be tolerated here. If you do not support LGBTQ+ rights, are a TERF or transphobic, support racism or believe in racial, gender or religious supremacy of any kind: DO NOT INTERACT. I want to ensure a safe place for everyone and anyone who threatens the peace and safety of my LGBTQ+, Trans, POC followers will be blocked without question.

n all seriousness sesame street is such an important piece of living media. it has been around for DECADES and from day 1 highlighted the importance of diversity empathy and education for children in a fun way. their mission statement is “Helping Kids Everywhere Grow Smarter, Stronger, and Kinder”. it’s been such an influence for so many people at a formative age. it’s creators made it w the intention that it could be a resource for underprivileged kids and help them prepare for kindergarten. thousands of people have learned english from our friends on sesame. pls (at media corporations) don’t let a beloved cultural phenomenon die

I would like to say, Sesame Street, at this point, is WAY more than just the TV show. It's even way more than the MANY separate, international versions of the tv show.

They have a youtube, the characters all have individual twitter accounts, they do live shows, they have books and toys, and every single piece of sesame street is designed by child educators and child psychologists and goes through a RIGOROUS vetting process before being put out to the audience.

That's where the money goes, is to ALL of that, not JUST a tv show.

wow! as a broke college kid, i wish there was a way to access books and movies as well as scientific articles that the new administration isn't necessarily a fan of. man. If only there was a free and trusted vpn ( up to 10 gigs of downloadable data) to use in conjunction with an anonymizing router (also free up to 10 gigs) to safely, er, permanently borrow media in an untraceable way as well as share files. Man, what's that browser that keeps your online activity anonymous? I'm awfully attached to firefox, personally. If only i had a browser extension that would throw a smoke screen over my browsing data while blocking ads at the same time.

resources can be organized by type (article, novel, podcast, video, etc.) as well as filtered and searched through. we’ve tried to make our system much more accessible than our former platform on google docs so this is such an exciting development to share with everyone.

The Republicans hold majority in the Senate, but I think something that's important to consider is that the Democrats hold 47 seats, the Republicans hold 49, and Independent parties (Bernie Sanders included) hold 4. Of the 3 Independent parties, 3 have explicitly said they'll caucus with the Democrats. 1 has explicitly said she will not caucus with the Republicans.

Why am I sharing this? Because hope still exists, and 3+47= 50. And potentially 50+1= 51. It may not seem like much of a difference, but it's pretty goddamn monumental. It lessens the despair a bit.

They might have the majority, but that doesn't mean the Republicans will automatically have an easy win.

OK LISTEN THERE ARE REASONS FOR THIS!!!

A lot of these places are called liminal spaces - which means they are throughways from one space to the next. Places like rest stops, stairwells, trains, parking lots, waiting rooms, airports feel weird when you’re in them because their existence is not about themselves, but the things before and after them. They have no definitive place outside of their relationship to the spaces you are coming from and going to. Reality feels altered here because we’re not really supposed to be in them for a long time for think about them as their own entities, and when we do they seem odd and out of place.

The other spaces feel weird because our brains are hard-wired for context - we like things to belong to a certain place and time and when we experience those things outside of the context our brains have developed for them, our brains are like NOPE SHIT THIS ISN’T RIGHT GET OUT ABORT ABORT. Schools not in session, empty museums, being awake when other people are asleep - all these things and spaces feel weird because our brain is like “I already have a context for this space and this is not it so it must be dangerous.” Our rational understanding can sometimes override that immediate “danger” impulse but we’re still left with a feeling of wariness and unease. 

Listen I am very passionate about liminal spaces they are fascinating stuff or perhaps I am merely a nerd.

April 2023 Moon Phases, Hybrid / Triple Eclipse, and More

April 2023 has a special treat for us – a rare solar eclipse called a Hybrid Eclipse is set to take place on April 20th. A Hybrid Eclipse is also known as a Triple Eclipse. Later this month will be a great time to spot the dwarf planet Huamea and the asteroid Iris.

A Hybrid Solar Eclipse is named such because a Total Solar Eclipse, an Annular Solar Eclipse, and a Partial Solar Eclipse occur at the same time. This is also where it gets the name “Triple Eclipse.” These types of solar eclipses occur while the Moon is farther away from the Earth, allowing the Antumbra shadow to form. This shadow starts where the Umbra shadow of the Moon ends.
