Hello! My name is Nathan and I use any pronouns. I'm a 4w5, sx/so/sp.
My ask box is always open, let me know if there's any character you'd like my thoughts on! That includes things I don't typically include in my posts, such as childhood wounds, tritypes with wings, etc. About Me (+ My Fandoms and DNI List)
update from almost three years later. i dont go here anymore. main is @bemtevis
Excuse me mister but could you explain subtypes to me?
I like don’t understand them
hello, sure! subtypes are also called instinctual types. there are three of them: social, sexual and self-preservation. no matter a person's core type, their subtype affects exactly where their desires/fears are projected.
for example: social fives want to use their knowledge to belong in social settings, sexual fives use it to form intimate connections and sp fives use it to protect themselves. their motivation (to be competent and knowledgable) is still the same, but they direct it differently.
this article explains it pretty well. hope this helped!
Core Fear: to be dependent, controlled, or otherwise weak.
Type Eights tend to see everything as a challenge. They're naturally aggressive, assertive and rebellious, which is their way to assert their freedom. Wing Sevens tend to be a lot more extroverted and adventurous than other Eights. At their worst, they are controlling and confrontational to get what they want, and push down their feelings of shame and sadness, for example, as they see them as weaknesses.
Sasha looks for positions of authority wherever she goes, which is an Eight way to assert control over a situation. She's so used to being the leader, in fact, that during most of, if not her entire life, she refused to have it any other way. Whenever her position is threatened, she externalizes her anger, which is typically the only (negative) feeling Eights allow themselves to express.
She desintegrates onto Five, becoming isolated, out of touch with her feelings, turns her guilt into self-hatred and arrogance. We see this side of Sasha particularly in Turning Point (s03ep03), while before it, she was fighting against those feelings through her tritype's coping mechanisms. At her best, however, Sasha integrates onto Two. Here, she's selfless and open-hearted, allowing herself to be vulnerable and soft with others instead of seeing that as a weakness.
-> SUBTYPE: sx/sp
Her primary instinctual drive is the sexual, or intimate, one, which focuses on intense experiences and bonds and forming intimate connections. Intimate Eights are the most rebellious and authoritarian, and are naturally prone to break rules and dominate their environment. We see Sasha looking for positions of power and attemption to control the things, and people, around her. The sx need for intimacy only worsens her controlling behavior, but it also shows us her softer side. She wants love and affection but is afraid that asking for it will put her in a vulnerable position, so she uses her power to protect the people she cares about as a way to earn it—and sometimes, even takes it for granted.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the self-preservation one. Self-Preservation Eights tend to focus on material things as a display of their power and impact. They're typically secretive and cunning, but will use their power to make sure theirs and their loved one's needs are met. Sasha leans hard on this during The Reunion, for example.
-> TRITYPE: 837
Sasha's body fix is 8. It handles anger by externalizing it and being overly assertive.
Her heart fix is 3. It handles shame by repressing it and only showing the best of yourself.
Her mind fix is 7. It handles fear by repressing it and filling the space with movement.
These fixes, her main coping mechanisms, can be seen working together in Toadcatcher: she's not afraid of losing Anne!, she's not ashamed of her actions!, she's just angry and exhausting herself to avoid thinking about it.
Core Desire: to be competent, capable, and knowledgable.
Core Fear: to be useless, incapable, ignorant or otherwise helpless.
Type Fives overcompensate for their fears by persuing knowledge and developing their skills in their chosen area as a way to feel worthy. Wing Fours tend to be more expressive and emotional, leaning on their wing's passion and creativeness. In New Wartwood (s02ep26), for example, Marcy seeks Wartwood's validation the only way she knows how: by learning everything she can about the town and improving it in every way she can.
In The First Temple (s02ep25), we see a manifestation of Marcy's core fear. She prouded herself in being smart and knowledgable, so when she's faced with the reality that she doesn't know everything, she shuts down. She had to learn to differenciate being helpless and letting go, an important part of a Five's arrow.
Marcy desintegrates onto Seven, which is the reason she's commonly mistaken for one. There, she becomes scattered, hyperactive and distracted, taking on too many things at once yet convincing herself she can handle it. She represses negative emotions like an unhealthy Seven, too. However, she integrates onto Eight: here, she becomes self-confident, decisive, assertive and confident in her own abilities and worth.
-> SUBTYPE: sx/so
Her primary instinctual drive is the sexual, or intimate, one, which focuses on intense experiences and bonds and forming intimate connections. Intimate Fives may appear analytical and confident on the outside, but internally, they worry that they lack the social skills to form said connections. Marcy even expresses this insecurity out loud in Scavenger Hunt (s02ep12): “Yeah, sure, I'm good at solving puzzles and calculating the check, but you're amazing at making connections. And me? I have trouble looking people in the eye sometimes.”
This subtype longs for relationships that can result in unconditional love, so they can trust this person—in Marcy's case, people—with their secrets and be trusted in return. She is more intense, passionate, talkative and open-hearted than other Fives. She wants to feel accepted and will isolate and talk herself down if she feels misunderstood, like we see in the flashback with her parents.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the social one, which is image-focused and wants to belong in their community. Social Fives want to masteir their field in order to be the person people go to with questions, which is their way to feel accepted. They're more sociable than other Fives and seek to be indispensible in their group.
-> TRITYPE: 529
Marcy's mind fix is 5. It handles fear by isolating and keeping their feelings to themselves. This doesn't always mean physical isolation, as we've estabilished that Marcy is especially afraid of being lonely, but she does hide in her inner world and distances herself from reality through her imagination, even before Amphibia.
Her heart fix is 2. It handles shame by trying to become indispensible in people's lives. Type Twos, sometimes called the Givers or the Helpers, fear being unlovable. Because of this, they try to help others however they can, even at the cost of themselves, a trait that carries onto Marcy's Two fix.
Her body fix is 9. It handles anger by repressing it. Type Nines, and therefore Nine fixes, want to be at peace with everyone around them, which is why they typically deny their anger and any conflict that may be going on. This can be seen in Marcy when she denies the tension between Anne and Sasha. She wants things to be normal and harmonious, even if that means going back to the toxic dynamic they had before.
Core Desire: being successful, valuable, accepted, worthy of love.
Core Fear: of failure, defeat, not being enough or worthy of love.
Threes, particularly ones with a Two wing, believe that setting and accomplishing high goals is the only way to deserve people's affection and attention. While they may be insecure and anxiously waiting for their approval, they typically pretend to be confident and sure of themselves at all times. They want to belong and believe that success will grant them that, that by being selfless and thoughtful, they will earn their stay.
Luz wants to be special, and this has been clear since Witches Before Wizards (s01ep02). She likes the thought of being somebody's Chosen One, of arriving in a fantasy world and being immediately accepted and admired for being different, a thing she was ostracized for in the Human Realm. As children, Threes are often made to feel like it's not okay to be themselves, so they put up a persona of someone who's above shame, which leads us to her arrow.
Luz desintegrates onto Nine. At her worst, she neglects her own feelings to fit in with others' expectations, has a hard time making her own decisions and just goes along with everybody else. Desintegrated Threes fear being rejected and othered, so they play a character to distance themselves from... well, themselves. At her best, however, Luz integrates onto Six, becoming genuinely confident and sure of herself and allowing herself to be vulnerable, even if that involves feeling ashamed.
-> SUBTYPE: sp/so
Luz's primary instinctual drive is the self-preservation one, a pretty self-explanatory name. Self-Preservation Threes often look prepared and confident on the outside, but secretly have an underlying fear of not being enough. They want to be the best at everything they do, and while they do want admiration, they believe that admitting that would make them vain. This makes it hard for them to seek approval out loud. Luz is integrated enough to not feel entitled to it, but she does have a fear of being rejected, and it's hard for her to find the right words for it at times. As this is her primary subtype, she believes that being successful is the way to earn her place in the world.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the social one. Social Threes crave social validation and a feeling of belonging even more than other Threes. They work towards that by moving up in the world and succeeding in whatever life throws their way, typically emerging as natural leaders.
-> TRITYPE: 379
Luz's heart type is 3. Also her primary type, it handles shame by repressing it and only showing the best of yourself, as discussed above.
Her mind type is 7. It handles fear by repressing it and filling in that space with fun and movement. Type Sevens are typically extroverted and thrill-seeking, overly optimistic and easy-going, all traits that carry on to the Seven Fix to varying degrees. In many situations, Luz deals with her fear (of rejection, of failure) by swallowing it down and focusing on whatever adventure she's going to have next. While this is not her main motivation or desire, it gets her commonly confused for a Seven.
Her body fix is 9. Also her desintegration point, it handles anger by repressing it. Nine Fixes tend to struggle with assertiveness and set blurry boundaries between themselves and others, making it hard to find their own identity at times. Even in the Boiling Isles, it was hard for Luz to stand up for herself in various occasions: to Eda and King in Witches Before Wizards, to the Blight twins in Lost In Language, etc. We can only guess it was even worse in the Human Realm, but her primary Three type allows her to defend herself and her friends when the situation calls for it: against Amity in Covention, against Boscha in Wing It Like Witches, etc.
Core Desire: to be internally balanced and at peace, to have harmony with one's surroundings.
Core Fear: of being separated from the world, of conflict and tension.
Since they dislike conflict, type Nines tend to be too forgiving, too sympathetic, too much of push-overs. Instead of standing up for themselves, they swallow their anger and stay out of conflict in an attempt to be at peace. That was clear in Willow since her first episode, allowing Amity to push her around and, though implicitly, not expressing to her dads her desire to be in the Plants track. She just went along with whatever she was told to do, a sign of an unhealthy Nine.
We also see in Understanding Willow that she has a lot of internalized anger that she bottled up for a long time. She hated being pushed around, she hated being weak, and helpless, and half-a-witch Willow. She shows signs of assertion every now and again that grant her an Eight wing, the internal tension between her passive and assertive side.
Willow desintegrates onto Six: she's anxious and paralysed, doubting herself and her abilities, ignoring her own feelings out of the false belief that if she's at peace with the outside world, that'll grant her internal peace as well. She uses stock sayings to minimize her feelings: out of sight, out of mind. However, she integrates onto Three: here, she's self-confident, energetic and productive, making decisions by herself and for herself.
-> SUBTYPE: so/sp
Willow's primary instinctual drive, or subtype, is the social one. It is community-driven and wants to belong by working towards a shared purpose. Social Nines are friendly, outgoing and cheerful, giving all of themselves to others. Underneath her warm exterior, though, Willow has a fear of being excluded, especially now that she found her people. As a result, she has a hard time saying no and setting independent goals even regarding her closest friends, like in WILW.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the self-preservation one, a pretty self-explanatory name. While they might be talented, Self-Preservation Nines tend to focus on simpler goals and small rewards that keep them from persuing their bigger dreams and aspirations. They're prone to have a wry sense of humor, I gotta go disappoint my professor. At their best, though, they allow themselves to be proud of their abilities and to have more ambitions in life, their Three integration.
-> TRITYPE: 947
Willow's body fix is 9. Her primary type, it also handles anger and assertiveness by repressing it, as discussed above.
Her heart fix is 4. This fix deals with shame and image by prouding itself of the things it was ostracized for. Willow was bullied for being half-a-witch, less than, a bad student. But she was a good student, just not in the track they expected her to; when she's at her best, she's proud and energized by her Plant magic instead of ashamed of it.
Her mind fix is 7. It handles fear by denying it, like Nine does with anger. One of the first things we learned about Willow is that she disliked the Abominations track, but rationalized that feeling away: her dads are right, this track has better opportunities, she should just go along with it. Sevens, as a type, have a tendency to rationalize away bad feelings to stay in their happiness bubble, a trait that carries on to Seven fixes.
Core Desire: to be competent, capable, and knowledgable.
Core Fear: to be useless, incapable, ignorant or otherwise helpless.
In order to feel competent, type Fives spend their time mastering their fields and developing their skills. Wing Fours tend to be more expressive than other Fives, passionately seeking for answers and knowledge in whatever area they choose. For Gus, that is both illusionist magic and human-related business. He's so dedicated to his interests, in fact, that he skipped two grades and is the president of the HAS.
Gus desintegrates onto Seven, becoming distracted and scattered. We've seen in TTLGR that he locks himself up in his room when feeling bad, isolating himself and ignoring the outside world, a Five's coping mechanism. He integrates onto Eight, becoming self-confident, assertive, spontaneous and letting go of his analysis-paralysis.
-> SUBTYPE: so/sx
Gus' primary instinctual drive is the social one, which is community-driven and focuses on belonging in their social groups. Social Fives, the most extroverted of this type, want to dominate their field in order to be the one people go to when they have a question, often seeing themselves as the gurus of their group. Gus finds his sense of belonging in knowing the most about his chosen topic, say, the Human Realm. When he becomes insecure in his knowledge and his position is threatened in SVSF, he becomes defensive and disdainful, trying to regain control over his group. At his best, though, he's open to criticism and unbiased.
His secondary drive is the sexual, or intimate, one, which focuses on intimacy and intensity. Intimate Fives may appear analytical and distant at first glance, but they are deeply passionate and creative when you get to know them. While this is Gus' secondary instinct and he's more sociable than the usual Five, he still has a small yet close group of friends that he would do anything for, his sx intensity.
-> TRITYPE: 531
Gus' mind fix is 5. His primary type, it also handles fear by withdrawing, which may lead to loneliness. As discussed above, he showed signs of that in TTLGR, but he's already pretty integrated and healthy, which, paired up with his extrovertion, leads him away from total isolation.
His heart fix is 3. It handles shame by striving to be the best, whatever that means for them. This is a typical heart fix for type Fives, they want to master their field so it's only natural that they would want success. This goes back to Gus feeling insecure in SVSF, his social position was being threatened, he was no longer the person his group looked up to, so he reassured himself of his position and swallowed down his shame.
His body fix is 1. It handles anger by controlling it, by convincing itself that it's justified. Ones want to be fair and morally good, and the entirety of TTLGR upheld these values for Gus.
In fact, most, if not all, of his basic desires can be summed up by one quote: “What's the point of being good at this if I can't do anything good with it?” His Five desire to be competent, his Three desire to be the best and his One desire to help others with the skills his other fixes lead him to have all come together here.
Core Desire: of being valuable, worthy, and successful.
Core Fear: of failure, defeat, not being enough or worthy.
Type Threes are extremely image-conscious and task-focused. They want to feel appreciated, so they overwork themselves and set high goals to feel worthy of it. They're ambitious, dedicated, and hardworking, putting too much of their self-esteem on being the best. Amity's Four wing makes her more introverted, distant, and prone to comparing herself to others.
She desintegrates onto Nine. Here, Amity neglects herself because, in her mind, she's not working as hard as she should. She has trouble making her own decisions, instead numbing herself to her own feelings and allowing others to make decisions for her, particularly Odalia. Her Integration point, however, is Six. Here, she becomes truly confident and sure of herself, allowing herself to be vulnerable and trusting that others won't take advantage of her, like a healthy Six.
-> SUBTYPE: sp/so
Amity's primary instinctual drive is the self-preservation one, which focuses on safety, material security, and such. Self-Preservation Threes typically appear calm and composed on the outside, but are innerly anxious and worried that they might not be enough. They want to be the best at whatever they're doing, the best student, the best daughter, an awesome girlfriend. Despite this, they try their best to appear modest as to not be seen as vain. That makes it particularly hard for Amity to verbalize her insecurities, so she becomes self-reliant, hardworking and dedicated to her support system. Her parents, for example, fueled her toxic traits, but her new friends and girlfriend see the good in her, which leads her to her integration point in Eclipse Lake.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the social one, which wants to work towards a shared goal with your community and to belong. Social Threes want to move up in the world, to be influencial and admired as well as secure. They want to be competent and look good while they're at it. This clashes with Amity's primary drive; she wanted, especially in season 1, to appear modest to her teachers and parents, but had no problem being mean to the people she dislikes.
-> TRITYPE: 316
Amity's heart fix is 3. As well as her primary type, it handles shame by only showing the world the best part of yourself. Why should she be ashamed? She's the most successful, the most popular, the most deserving of whatever she puts her mind in. In Covention, we see that persona breaking. She was trying so hard to be the best, then she was publicly humiliated and it all came crashing down, which leads us to her body fix.
Her body fix is 1. It handles anger by trying to justify it. Amity doesn't think her emotions, particularly anger, can stand by themselves, so she looks for excuses: in IWATA, her first appearance, she was shaking Luz because she was pretending to be an abomination! In Covention, it's because Luz cheated to win a battle, admit it, you cheated! It upholds the One's need for perfection; they grasp the notion that their negative emotions and behavior are ethical and justified.
Her mind fix is 6. It handles fear by being suspicious and alert, by seeking out a support system. First, it was her parents and her old friends, then her new group, as discussed with her subtype. She used to think that success and perfection were the only ways to earn her security, but let go of that notion in Eclipse Lake.
Core Desire: to be morally good, ethical, perfect, fair, and balanced.
Core Fear: to be corrupt, bad, unfair, imperfect, or defective.
These types have, as mentioned above, the desire to be perfect. They want to be good and above criticism, which is why they strive for greatness and hold onto any excuse for their bad behavior. For Lilith, that was the curse. Yes, she did curse her own sister, but she deserved that position, and she's gonna cure her! She nitpicks little things to avoid thinking about her actions, like mentioning Eda's white hair in WILW.
As she herself mentioned, Lilith wanted to work alongside the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles and to make the world a better place. Throughout the years, though, she lost that motivation, and became hyperfocused on her work instead. The one thing she could congratulate herself for, curing Eda's curse, ended up being a lie, which forced her to realize she had been corrupt for the past 30 years or so.
Lilith desintegrates onto Four: she put so much of herself in being good, being the best, that she lost her own sense of self. Who is she without magic, without a Coven? Her supposedly controlled anger was turned against herself, now that she is finally faced with the consequences of her actions, and she becomes depressed and hopeless, as we've seen in season 2.
On the other hand, she integrates onto Seven: here, she stops focusing on perfection and becomes looser, more enthusiastic and optimistic. She lets go of control and allows herself some spontaneity and fun.
-> SUBTYPE: so/sx
Lilith's primary instinctual drive is the social one, which is typically community-driven and focuses on shared goals. Social Ones particularly strive to be good role models, following rules and changing the world. They're rigid, perfectionistic, and tend to have a superiority complex. Even though they're sociable, these Ones feel separated from their group and struggle to find someone they truly relate to. That mindset certainly didn't help Lilith into being recruited into a cult, where she could achieve all her basic goals at a cost she didn't truly understand at the time.
Her secondary instinctual drive is the sexual, or intimate, one, which focuses on intimacy and intensity. Intimate Ones spend their energy perfecting the people around them rather than themselves. This can lead them to be critical, nitpicky and control freaks, but also inspiring and charming. Lilith believes her goals, joining the Coven and honoring the Titan, are superior to Eda's, for example. In season 1, we see her being irritated and confused by her sister. Why isn't she trying to be better? Why is she still getting attention, getting praised? Why does she think she's better than me?! She had no problem pointing out other people's flaws, but became defensive about her own.
-> TRITYPE: 136
Lilith's body fix is 1. This is her primary type, as mentioned above, and it also handles anger by controlling it. She bottles up her anger inside her, possibly due to her Nine wing, giving the impression that she has it under control. When she lashes out, though, is because she had a reason to! Lilith believes she can't be angry without an excuse, so she grasps for one wherever she can.
Her heart fix is 3. It handles shame and image by being the best. That's the image of herself she puts out, the composed and powerful Head of the Emperor's Coven. This fix makes her an overachiever, looking for success and acceptance, which might get her mistaken for a Three.
Her mind fix is 6. It handles fear by being suspicious and vigilant, and seeking out support and security—particularly from her community, her social instinct. Lilith's One and Three fixes might make her believe that being perfect and successful are the only ways to earn her support system.
Core Fear: to be dependent, controlled, or otherwise weak.
8w7s, sometimes known as the Non-Conformists, tend to be pretty rebellious and skeptic of authority. They want to have control over their lives, and want other people to be free to make their own choices. Eda, for example, dreads the thought of being weak and taken advantage of, so she closes herself off, becoming anger-prone and risk-taking to remain free. As a wing Seven, she is also more adventurous, extroverted and assertive than other Eights.
Eda is a great example of an Eight's arrow. When she's at her worst, she retracts to Five, her desintegration point. Here, she is closed-off, condescending, and completely isolated from the world, becoming the secretive Owl Lady. However, moving to Two, her integration point, she becomes loving and open-hearted, willing to be vulnerable and affectionate with the people she loves.
-> Subtype: sx/so
The sexual or one-to-one subtype focuses on intimacy and intensity. This is Eda's primary instinctual drive; as a one-to-one Eight, she is naturally rebellious. She wasn't respected as a child, so she's prone to disrespect authorities instead. This subtype longs for intimate connections, but is torn between being affectionate and fearing that others may take advantage of that.
Eda's secondary instinctual drive is the social one. She wants to use her power and influence to protect other wild witches and so-called weirdos like her, though because of her desintegration, she tends to push down that need and focus on herself instead. She's hyperaware of injustice and is truly loyal and warm with the people she truly cares about, like a social Eight.
-> Tritype: 874
Eda's body fix is 8. Her primary type, it handles anger and assertiveness by externalizing them and becoming defensive.
Her mind fix is 7. This fix handles fear, especifically by denying it and looking for distractions. To avoid dwelling on her curse and misery, Eda distracts herself by being outgoing and adventure-seeking, which might get her mistaken for a Seven.
Her heart fix is 4. It handles shame by reclaiming, romanticizing, or otherwise weaponizing it. The things Eda was ostracized and ridiculed for are now things she takes pride in; she was humiliated for having a curse and persecuted for being wild, so she claimed the title of Owl Lady and her wanted posters and made them her own.
Core Desire: to be safe, protected, and to have a support system.
Core Fear: of being unsafe, helpless, and without support or guidance.
Type 6w5s, the Guardians, tend to have pretty black and white way of thinking. You're either an ally or an enemy, a friend or a foe. Because of the abuse and manipulation he's been subjected to, Hunter believes Belos is his support system, and struggles with finding comfort outside of him, becoming anxious and self-destructive at the thought of losing him and being punished. Sixes are commonly known as the Loyalists for a reason; they are extremely loyal to the causes and people they support.
Hunter believes that the only way to be safe is by being helpful and knowledgable (he could help, if only he knew a little more!), leaning heavily on his Five wing.
Sixes hate having no control over a situation. When he feels helpless, like we've seen in Hunting Palismen, he becomes aggressive and closed off, very different from the laid-back persona he presented previously, which was likely a manifestation of his desintegration.
Hunter desintegrates onto 3; he's so desperate by his need for security that he throws himself deeper into his work, believing that being successful is the only way to keep it. Here, he becomes an arrogant (or falsely confident) overachiever, like an unhealthy Three, the reason why he's commonly mistaken as one.
-> Subtype: so/sx
The social subtype generally wants a sense of belonging, of working towards a shared purpose as the people around them. That is Hunter's primary instinctual drive; like a social Six, he longs to be a part of something bigger than himself, say, the Titan's plans. He needs people's, paricularly Belos's, approval before moving forward, and is willing to put a lot of things on the line not to fall out of his good graces.
Hunter's secondary instictual drive is the sexual, or one-on-one, one. One-on-one Sixes believe it's them against the world, and tend to express that by becoming aggressive and tense. They, like Hunter, tend to never let their guard down because of the fear that others are just waiting to manipulate and hurt them. Hunter handles that fear by being the first to manipulate and hurt them instead.
He sees the outside world as dangerous (sx) and the Coven as safe (so), leaning on it even further to distance himself from possible threats, a coping mechanism that leaks into his tritype.
-> Tritype: 629
Hunter's mind fix is 6. As well as his primary type, it also handles fear, particularly by being vigilant and suspicious of everything and everyone.
His body fix is 1. He justifies and acts superior whenever confronted with his own or his loved one's (Belos') flaws.
Core Desire: to be competent, useful, and knowledgable.
Core Fear: to be useless, incapable, ignorant or otherwise helpless.
These types are primarily type Fives, but share some characteristics with type Sixes as well. In order to be competent, they seek knowledge and to master their field. Many of them, like Leo, feel like being helpful is the only way to form connections and have a security system, which is where their 6 wing comes in.
They find their worth in being problem-solvers, and are commonly known as the Troubleshooters. Leo desintegrates onto Seven; he puts too much pressure on himself, which makes him distracted, disorganized, and scattered. At times, he appears drained, but stays in denial about it and seeks adrenaline to avoid feeling that way, like a desintegrated Seven, which is why he's commonly confused as one.
5w6s also withdraw when stressed, which may cause them to be lonely, which becomes apparent when analyzing Leo's subtype.
-> Subtype: sx/so
The sexual subtype, also known as the one-on-one subtype, focuses on intimacy and intensity. This is Leo's primary instinctual drive; as a one-on-one Five, he is intensely creative and passionate. He longs for intense connections, someone he can trust and love and be trusted and loved in return. While he may appear reserved, analytical and confident on the outside, he's constantly worried that he might lack the abilities to form such connections. He will distance himself from a situation if he feels misunderstood or unnapreciated, which leads to loneliness.
Leo's secondary instictual drive is the social one. This subtype wants to get along with others and tends to work towards a shared purpose to feel accepted. Social Fives want to be indispensible and unrepleacable, and look to become a master in their field so people will go to them for advice.
-> Tritype: 529
Leo's mind fix is 5. As well as his primary type as explained above, it also dictates how he deals with fear; he withdraws from it, becoming lonely and introspective in an attempt to distance himself from any possible threats. In his case, that might be either actual gods or simpler fears, such as rejection.
His heart fix is 2. The supporting type, its core fears and desires are strong influences. As a Two fix, Leo wants to be loved and accepted, and dreads the thought of being unwanted and worthless, so he throws himself deeper into his work. This fix deals with shame, particularly the shame of not measuring up to other's image of you, by trying to be necessary and indispensible in another's life.
His body fix is 9. The body fix deals with anger, and how you assert yourself as an individual. Leo has blurred boundaries between himself and others, and deals with anger by denying it. After all, there's nothing to stress about if you refuse to admit there's anything stressful at all! He won't stand up for himself so easily and would much rather isolate himself instead.
