Are you a student or educator, or are you un/underemployed and/or have a lower income? You might not be aware that we have an affordable discount tier for anyone who needs it, no questions asked!
Just email [email protected] and we'll happily share the codes (which apply to both our basic Supporter tier and our special podcast Benefactor tier).
Most of our new posts (+ future posts) are now paywalledāwithout subscriber support, we cannot pay our writers, and thus cannot continue to exist! If you're interested in reading smart fan culture reporting and sharp critical writing but might not be able to afford $70 a year, please get in touch about the affordable tier codes.
Some of our recent features:
"African K-Pop Fans Are Building Their Own Spaces"
"How Fans Make Fictional Languages Real"
"Heated Rivalry is at the Center of Fanficās AI Reckoning"
And criticism:
@hellotailor's recaps of The Vampire Lestat
"Be Gay, Do (Sea) Crimes: Pirate Tropes and Queer Resistance"
"Drake and His Fans vs the World"
Check out the whole site, and if you can afford $70 a year (that's under $6 a month! The cost of a fancy coffee!), please subscribe. Help us keep publishing great fan culture writingāespecially since the mainstream media can't seem to get it right... š
Reporting, criticism, and more, all by, for, and about fandom.
FYI, even though I try to mention it a fair bit (I know not everyone is poring over our FAQ lol), we've had very little uptake on the affordable discount codes. I just want to reiterate that there's no threshold or barrier to this, nor need of proof: if you'd like to support this project but can't afford the regular $70 a year, please get in touch. Like folks buying individual articles for $1 each, every financial contribution helps!
steve rogers was told by his old love interest that she lived her life, now itās time for him to live his and when natasha asked him what heās looking for in a partner, he says someone with shared life experience. we then promptly meet the winter soldier/bucky barnes who breaks thru of 70 years of memory loss and programming bc of his love for steve (the one face hydra could never take from him). we also find out that their catchphrase is ātil the end of the line aka til death do we part.
but no no youāre right we all definitely read way to far into it
It was a mistake for Sanlang to stay overnight at Xie Lian's temple during their first meeting.. š

Welcome to Shousetsu Bang*Bang International Park! Shousetsu Bang*Bang, better known by the acronym āSSBBā, is the worldās oldest (that we know of) international park dedicated entirely to the cultivation and preservation of original queer smut.
Since 2005, SSBB has gathered over 12 million words of endangered and threatened erotica, protecting them and making them accessible so that visitors from around the globe can continue to enjoy them for internet generations to come. We believe that a diverse ecosystem is a healthy ecosystem, and that a healthy ecosystem is one allowed to flourish wherever it feels most comfortable, which means you wonāt find artificial divisions between biomes or rigid gatekeeping of ecotones here.
Instead, here in our pages, youāll encounter majestic work-unsafe sights featuring a vibrant array of genders, bodies, identities, relationships, genitals, and kinks, all in their natural habitats. We encourage you to start at the beginning of the issue and follow the path as you venture through its contents, taking things as they come and letting yourself be surprised by what you might encounter. Of course, some guests may choose to curate their own experiences, and thatās fine too! What matters is the relationship you cultivate with what you find here.
Supported by an army of volunteers, SSBB has managed to keep its doors open and admission completely free for over two decades now. IfĀ youādĀ like to know what it takes to be an SSBB Rainbow Ranger, check out our upcoming themes and dates or visit our Discord to chat with other volunteers! Weāre always looking for new recruits as we continue our living out our mission by giving writers and artists a space to share original works featuring queer love stories and happy endings!
And as you visit these beautiful lands, remember the SSBB hikerās creed:
Take nothing but inspiration
Leave nothing but comments
Tell all your friends
ā
(For summaries, creatorsā notes, and more,Ā please visit the relevant Google Doc of contributor commentary.)
Take our newest issue with you, no matter how far afield you travel! Download the ebook version for free at Books2Read or itch.io and bring along this bundle of smutty queer love stories wherever you roam! (Or read them comfortably in your own home, we don't judge.)
And if you do download it, take a moment and leave us a star rating! That one actually is a big help, as a higher star rating from more people makes our issues more discoverable, which brings new people to the project, which gets new readers and new contributors ... you get how it works. Thanks in advance!
That one tumblr post about supine vs prone constantly haunts me. Iāll be reading a fic thatās like:
[character a] pushes [character b] onto his back, then straddles his prone body
meanwhile Iām reading like: heās not lying on his pronis, heās lying on his s(u)pineā¦
the framing of generative ai as "theft" in popular discourse has really set us back so far like not only should we not consider copyright infringement theft we shouldn't even consider generative ai copyright infringement
who do you think benefits from redefining "theft" to include "making something indirectly derivative of something created by someone else"? because I can assure you it's not artists
for years disney used their billions to alter copyright law. they kept extending the date that it expired in order to hold on to the rights of their movies for longer and longer (movies that were mostly based on public domain works fyi)
it was only after years of protest against this that they finally decided to give up indefinitely as public perception had turned against them and they didnt think the PR backlash would be worth it
with the conflation of generative AI with 'theft,' and the amount of support this idea has from creatives, i genuinely worry that if Disney tried this again in a few years, under the guise of 'protecting artists from AI,' it would pass with little push back and we would lose more of our cultural history to multi-billion corporations
also defining piracy (aka 'copying') as theft is what has let companies use the full power of copyright law to incarcerate people, destroying peoples lives in the name of 'lost profit' and, in the case of nintendo, even force a guy into what is basically indentured servitude for the rest of his life
"It's good to have you back." "It's good to be back." Had the absolute pleasure of drawing this Sheith postcard for @avidbeader mailing gift project, celebrating 10 years of Sheith ā¤ļøš¤
