Doomed by the narrative
(In the sense that the writer is a fucking joke)
The choice to show Connor and Cameron struggling to raise this 'wild child' before killing them off so that Buck can swoop in and raise him 'the right way' himself is crazy.
Cause those are legit the optics we're working with here.
Hey Buck, you're his birth father (who met him two minutes ago) so obviously you know more than all the professionals we took Theo to. What's your diagnosis? And why is the solution sacrificing more parents to the fridge to further a man's pain and growth?
The donor baby thing in fanfiction never did it for me at all. It often felt like it was motivated by a weirdness over biological parentage (I.e. "we all know it's actually buck's baby really so he should have it"). It felt icky sometimes.
Another motivation is that it was a quick way to give buck a surprise kid for the purpose of the fic, and that's whatever, didn't bother me. But you would expect paid professional writers to have better ideas, if that was their reason for doing it.
But an issue i always had with it is that if you kill off both the kid's actual parents to facilitate this surprise kid acquisition, then you're left with a weird feeling to the story. You have this horrendous tragedy occur purely as a plot mechanism to launch a buck arc. An arc that is not about mourning said tragedy, but rather about his newfound parenthood.
And it seems like they tried to paint Connor and kameron negatively to soften the blow? But that doesn't cut it because it's just an insanely BIG thing to happen in order to launch a thematically-unrelated plot.
Like, logically the protagonist of this storyline should be someone in the couples family, or theo himself, dealing with the loss. You're left with a weird feeling of "why am I even watching this play out from this perspective?"

you're on twitter with a beautiful poet and he won't tell you that he hates you but he hates you
911 writers: we have created a breakup/makeup arc :)
me: you've fucked up a perfectly good canon queer relationship is what you've done. look at it. it's got biphobia.
911 writers: we have shut down a fanon ship :)

Leave him and Ryan alone. They are tired.
I, personally, don't see a scenario where tommy is a regular presence on the show and isn't bucks love interest
Idk i just think its either he gets written out or they get back together
Certain People: yes it is in fact an exit interview!
8.11:
Certain People: the argument 8.11 shut the door on Buck and Tommy for good.

Certain People: okay well NOW it’s capped off and they won’t return to That Man ever again.

and for you
I sometimes still see Twitter recycling the same old takes because there's no new information, but whenever I see discourse over Buck being a poor baby who didn't know he had soot on his face and was outed by the [insert derogatory words used to describe Tommy here), I want to gatekeep Buck from everyone in this fandom.
i love burk and tormy
