I think I'm going to start coming back here into this void. I've been gone awhile. But I don't feel comfortable in Twitter now X anymore. So slowly going to relocate back here. I'm just over everything
It's so weird to be back here
Hi ARMY. I'm admin š for the PTD Day 2 concert. Our plan is to sing 2! 3! to BTS during the encode intermission. Some updates: we are now doing lyric sheets since banners are really expensive and we cannot get in contact with HYBE or Sofi. We are also in need of volunteers for passing out the lyric sheets and picking up flyers to bring to sofi since we are planning on sending 55k sheets to CA. We also have a gofundme now!! Even a dollar helps. All proceeds will go to printing the lyric sheets. Our goal is 6,955 dollars! If you can't donate please reblog or volunteer. If you want to stay connected, our Twitter, discord will be linked below along with our gofundme and our volunteer form. Our insta is @btsptdday2. Can't wait to see you there!
Check out the BTS LA PTD 11/28 community on Discord - hang out with 52 other members and enjoy free voice and text chat.

wanting and not wanting at the same time
a comic for asexual awareness week
bringing this back today for the start of pride month. still overwhelmed by how well this comic went down and with how many people relate. itās easy to think aro-ace people are all totally accepting of their identities and really proud of who they are. i guess on websites like this you see a lot of people proudly putting their identity in their bio, a flag in their profile picture.
in fact i think a lot of aro-ace people really hate that part of themselves, hide it, and struggle for a long time to āacceptā who they are and feel any sense of āprideā. thatās the feeling i wanted to capture here. the disappointment, the loneliness, upon realising that you canāt feel what is such a wonderful thing. the embarrassment of not being ānormalā, of being some random sexuality that nobody irl has heard of, and letting down those around you because you canāt be who they want you to be. how desperately you want to change, how desperately you want to feel. but you just canāt.
i know not all aro-ace people feel like this. i know lots of aro and/or ace people feel able to be in relationships, to feel closeness and have partners in other ways. but i think itās important to be aware that some aro-ace people do feel like this.
the comments on this comic have mostly been great but a few have been very frustrating. a comment it got a lot was along the lines of āaw!! you donāt need to have sex to be in a relationship!ā. you completely missed the point, hah. this is not a comic about sex. itās about a lack of feeling, the lack of something beautiful other people seem to have. another comment that popped up a few times was āmaybe sheās a lesbianā. well maybe lesbians and aro/ace girls have more in common than people think - maybe they both often struggle to accept that they feel no attraction to men, even though society has conditioned them to do so, sometimes spending years trying to force themselves to like men in that way, when they just canāt.
this comic is called āwanting and not wanting at the same timeā because she wants to love. but when it comes down to the reality, she canāt fulfil the requirements of that. she wants to love someone forever, to get married and have children and grow old with her soulmate, but she doesnāt want it with this person. or that person. or anyone she meets or will ever meet. a sort of catch 22, i guess.
hope that makes sense. thanks for listening, and have a lovely pride month ā¤ļø
i don't really understand why you would be pro-zoo. like i understand nature reserves and sanctuaries where people can observe from afar, but it doesn't seem right to me when they're locked up in generally small confined areas for people to watch them do nothing all day. idk maybe i'm getting this wrong, and i still really respect you, i just don't understand this. like i interned at a zoo and felt uncomfortable with how small their living areas were and how they had no stimulation
Zoos donāt look like this anymore.
They look like this:
Good zoos do not keep their animals inĀ ātiny spacesā with no enrichment. Ā Iām not pro-roadside zoo. Ā Iām pro-accredited zoo. Ā Zoos are incredibly important for conservation and education.
Are Zoos Necessary?
The Importance of Zoos: Resource Post
Why Zoos and Aquariums Matter: Assessing the Impact of a Visit to a Zoo or Aquarium
Why I Want to be a Keeper
Why I Believe in Zoos
There should be way more pictures of modern zoos so i just add some more
Seriously zoos do so much important conservation work as well I hate when people shit all over zoos as if the animals are locked up and not looked after
The SF Zoo has two sea lions. Now, if you know SF, you know that sea lions are a Thing. Theyāre all over Pier 39 and various other beaches in N California. In fact, the zoo is near the ocean, so there are sea lions not 200 yards from the zoo entrance. So having sea lions in the zoo seems sort of superfluous.
Except the sea lions are blind. One was found as an adult after suffering a gun shot wound to the face that destroyed his eyes. The other was found as an adolescent, weak and starving because it had been blinded and unable to hunt. So they were rescued and introduced and the zoo built them a nice pool where they can swim and sunbathe and people toss them fish. Itās not the biggest exhibit, or the fanciest. But itās a home for them, where theyāre safe and well fed.Ā Sea lions arenāt the most romantic of animals, but theyāre a part of SF culture and a lot of us have a soft spot for the loud, bulbous things. And because of zoos, these two get to live long, happy lives.
Whenever anyone complains about zoos, I think about Silent Knight and Henry.Ā
I think itās St. Louis zoo that is saving big cats in Africa. Scientists couldnāt figure out what was killing off the local lion population. They were dying off from Canine Distemper. The local unvaccinated dogs of the towns would spread the disease to other animals or have it themselves. When the lions ate the infected animals they would catch it as well. You know what that Zoo is doing to stop this disease? They are going over to those towns and vaccinating the dogs for free. The community loves it and people from other villages comes for miles to get their dogs vaccinated as well.
They also do work with camel populations because the local human population use the camels for food sources the zoos help monitor the camels health.
Another zoo, I want to say itās the Oregon zoo but donāt quote me on that, is helping female inmates. The zoo works with the female prisons by encouraging the inmates to assist in the breeding and raising of endangered species of butterflies. They plant the specific plants that the butterflies and catapillars need, raise them, and release them. These inmates get noted in any scientific journals that get published. They are giving these inmates a sense of accomplishment and validation.
Zoos not only save species but bring together and assist communities in an effort to save the environment. Zoos, good zoos, are essential to the future and I will fight anyone who tries to say otherwise.
PS you donāt see PETA doing any of this.
One of the local zoos in my area at one point rescued a bald eagle that had been shot and kept it in the zoo to let it recuperate until they freed it again. Some of the zoos in my state will keep injured animals there until they heal again.
Helsinki Zoo is the world leader in snow leopard and Amur leopard conservation, in their care these endangered species have managed to breed more than anywhere else in captivity and this in turn has enabled the re-introduction of these animals back to their native habitats. https://www.korkeasaari.fi/helsinki-zoo/
I work at a zoo that is instrumental in the California Condor recovery program (among dozens of other conservation projects). We went from 42 surviving individuals left to over 400, over 200 of whom are in the wild. Weāre part of the amur leopard species survival plan with two young animals who are eagerly attempting to make babies. We host one of North Americaās only bachelor troops of western lowland gorillas, preserving the social structure of wild gorillas. All of our bald eagles are rescues who would not survive in the wild. All our keepers participate in field research and conservation work in addition to a full time team of conservationists. We host the most genetically valuable male Masai giraffe in North America, who has sired 5 offspring with 1 on the way, increasing the genetic diversity of his entire species. If youāre against zoos, you donāt know what zoos do.
Super, SUPER important thread.
Also zoos tend to do a lot of breeding and conservation work with smaller, less charismatic species like invertebrates and amphibians. Those species are extremely important in the ecosystem but donāt get the same notoriety as the charismatic megafauna.
Marvel directors: Even when actors like Chris Evans do their own stunts, we make sure theyāre VERY wired in and rehearse a lot before filming. We also add dangerous weapons in in post so thereās no chance of danger, even with a prop. :)
Good Omens directors: Weāre making David Tennant DRIVE A FLAMING CAR and IF HE DIES, HE DIES

Iāve had this story in my head for a while. Please make sure your pet is always in a safe environment, be it in the freezing cold winter or during a very hot summer. Keep them safe <3 Webtoons
I canāt believe I actually spent my time on this
Every once and a while this ancient post rises from the depths of hell and I still get people telling me āOregon be cold sometimesā like guys i really maybe thought about this for .86 seconds and all i wanted to do was roast Ford please let me be
Men: Your Consent Matters Too
Fellas, listen.
You donāt have to do anything sexual that youāre not interested in. Moreover, you donāt have to explain why. āNoā is a complete sentence.
Not interested in getting pegged? You donāt have to. Monogamous and not into the idea of another partner? Okay. Not sure about period sex? Cool.
And if your partner decides to question or mock your maturity or your masculinity or your sexuality because you say no? Itās time to re-evaluate the relationship. See if you donāt deserve better than that.
This isnāt shared enough.
Amazing post OP, but Iād like to add that you donāt have to have sex at all if you donāt want to. Just wanted to make that clear
Asexual men are just as valid! Just because society tells you men want to have sex all the time doesnāt mean itās true. If your partner doesnāt respect that, then they donāt respect you.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Look buddy, iām just trying to make it to Friday.
reblog if its friday and you made it
The person I reblogged this from deserves to be happy
I tried to scroll past this. I really did
In a room full of non-native speakers, āthere isnāt any chance of understandingā. It might be their language, but the message is often lost
āA lot of native speakers are happy that English has become the worldās global language. They feel they donāt have to spend time learning another language,ā says Chong.
āBut⦠often you have a boardroom full of people from different countries communicating in English and all understanding each other and then suddenly the American or Brit walks into the room and nobody can understand them.ā
The non-native speakers, it turns out, speak more purposefully and carefully, typical of someone speaking a second or third language. Anglophones, on the other hand, often talk too fast for others to follow, and use jokes, slang and references specific to their own culture, says Chong. In emails, they use baffling abbreviations such as āOOOā, instead of simply saying that they will be out of the office.
āThe native English speaker⦠is the only one who might not feel the need to accommodate or adapt to the others,ā she adds.
Iāve been thinking about this post all day, and the articleĀ glosses over one important detail.Ā All of theĀ ānative English speakersā the article mentions belong to the same niche demographic: white collar/corporate professionals
English corporate speak is itās own fucked up dialect.Ā
Itās so incomprehensible and exclusionary that even a native English speaker with a masterās degree in English will have difficulty parsing it. Trust me when I say that nobody who isnāt a business major knows what the fuckĀ āsynergyā means.
And the jargonās just half the problem. The other half is the gross overuse of hobby-specific expressions and analogies.
Go to most corporate offices and youāll be bombarded with sports analogies that only make sense to someone who spends all their free time watching ESPN.
I tracked down this quote I read in a tumblr post years ago:
āI remember working with a law school in which white men heavily dominated the faculty. They used lots of sports metaphors (doing an end run, Monday morning quarterbacking, and so on), with legal jargon thrown in for good measure. I suggested that this was not a particularly welcoming trait in their school, that in fact it was sexist, but they paid little attention. I made my point by speaking for about five minutes in dressmaking terms: putting a dart in here, a gusset there, cutting the budget on the bias so it would be more flexible, using a peplum to hide a course that might be controversial. The women in the room laughed; the men did not find it humorousā¦.Language is power, make no mistake about it. It is used to include and exclude and to keep people and systems in their places.ā
- Frances E. Kendall, Understanding White Privilege
My point is,
This kind of poor communication probably shouldnāt be blamed onĀ monolingualism alone. Itās most certainly made worse by an exclusionary and elitist work culture.
Youāll probably encounter far fewer communication issues talking to a cashier at a tourist trap than you will talking to a lawyer or a stockbroker.
assuming itās other peopleās job to understand you, instead of your job to make yourself understood, is characteristic of people with unexamined and unchecked privilege.
