I’m saying this as someone who *does* prefer more serious/lethal actual plays, i want d20 fans to know that there are other actual plays that aren’t as comedic if that’s not your speed, and there are still d20 seasons that are more serious too (ACoFaF, TRW, and almost any aabria season)

there are also still ones *with* brennan as gm that are more serious (WWW, ExU Calamity, CR4)

like no one’s forcing you to watch the comedic ones while hoping for it to be mostly serious

Finally got to watch the CCoD finale and uhhh— listen. I think Dimension 20 is great, the cast are all great at improv but they really needed some brakes on that episode holy shit.

There are some funny moments but genuinely after a season spent just kind of poking around this finale truly did not wrap things up in a way that was satisfying. I would say that I want a second season but I know season two would have a lot about the ghost war, Vesper's parents, and not oh let's make the town better and grow as people.

Positives from this season: The Banksy bit is possible one of the funniest things to happen in all of D20. Just a great bit that kept coming in clutch. Lavonte, Madeleine, and Mitch were all fantastic I only wish that we had more than 14 episode so they could have full character growth. There was interesting lore and plot details up until about episode 12. It was a fun season to watch.

Cons: Vesper and HJ just were not enjoyable characters for me. Vesper I just never clicked with and the fact that her character got a lot of story and build up in comparison to others was just not entertaining for me. HJ was fun in the first episode and had a interesting relationship with LaVonte but him being "on SSRI blood" and that making him act so wild without being much prior building of oh he has been depressed/repressed and now he is cutting loose it just felt meh which is disappointing. The finale was not the wrap up I think most hoped for but the cast was doing their best to land the plane.

This season is fun but with a weak plot and the lack of grounding it is nowhere near the best for me unfortunately.

i’m imagining how horrific the situation that landed grace on the hail mary would seem to rocky. like. eridians are completely helpless when sleeping, so the idea of forcing someone to go unconscious against their will is probably a Bad No No in eridian culture. Plus they have seemingly flawless memories—the concept of forgetting anything at all is odd to him.
