Things are happening on reddit
Meanwhile this was what various medical professionals in that reddit thread had to say about it.
They do not, in fact, love it.
The proof that chiropractic is an utterly failed medical profession is not that adjustments can cause harm, but that the profession has responded by ignoring and denying the harm, rather than studying it.
All medical treatments (other than complete placebos) have some risk of harm, but for real treatments given by real professionals, the harms are tracked, measured and warned about. If the harms are too severe, the treatment is no longer used.
One of my colleagues was a chiropractor. After a while he began to suspect that a lot of his patients actually just had muscle tears, not spinal issues. He bought an ultrasound machine, learned how to use it and how to read ultrasound, and found that to be the case. Between that and the constant pressure from management to get customers (because lbr, they're not patients, they're customers), he got sick and tired of it and bailed to become a sonographer full time.
And before people pipe up with "but my chiro is good, they have me do exercises and so on!" that's just regular ass physiotherapy. See a physiotherapist. A lot of people who sing the praises of chiros because they saved them from chronic pain would have gotten the same benefits from seeing an actual licensed physio, who can prescribe the same or even better exercises because they have an actual fucking education.
The amount of fucking charts I've seen where a patient went to a chiropractor and now needs a surgery is fucking insane. All I do is medical charts, day in and day out doing medical code. I've gone over hundreds of patients whole year of appointments. Unless the chiropractor is also a physical therapist, that patient is going to get worse and need surgery with very few exceptions. It doesn't matter when they mention seeing a chiropractor, by the end of the year they need surgery for issues that started after *shock and awe* a chiropractor appointment! I've seen patients needing multiple surgeries to be functional after chiropractors. I've seen patients lose their ability to walk because of chiropractors. And all the way up till they need surgery, through the issues piling up and needing more pain meds, the patients insist it's helping because the want so badly for it to be helping. I wish it did
Yup, you absolutely can. They can help with lots of stuff. I first started going to my PT because of headaches, TMJ, muscle pains and tension in my neck and shoulders. There are PTs who are specialized in working with chronic pain patients. Mine is part of an interdisciplinary pain management clinic.
Surgery recovery is only a small part of what they do, but mine did help me regain full mobility after top surgery and taught me how to massage my scars.
They cwn also do a lot of things a "good" chiro would, except way more safely — they will actually assess what's safe to do and what isn't.
The PT also isn't someone you'll have to see on a regular basis forever. They'll teach you exercises and stretches you can do at home, help you with your form and if you can't do something, show you adapted versions that will be easier for you to do. The goal is that once you've got the right routine, you will be able to just do it at home and will not need their help anymore.

you’re sooooo normal! now why don’t you tell us how this makes you feeeel
I’m a busy man. Got two caution signs to remind me to slow down sometimes. Got a vibrating megaphone. Clocks. Radiation. Four goats. Got half a tank of simple columnar epithelial tissue. 60% through my day. Half a tank of gas. And it’s only 10:50.
aside from the everything else about this phenomenon: the fact that men being right-wingers or incels is attributed to women saying "I hate men," but women saying "I hate men" is never attributed to the millennia of violence and oppression men have inflicted on women, is just another iteration of "men are rational, women are emotional."
Men are assumed by default to have some kind of logic behind what they are doing, there's assumed to be some line of reasoning behind it, whereas women are considered hopelessly emotional and inconsistent to where it's futile to even try to understand where our behavior is coming from.
Reblogging for reference on how to make a blanket cape.
Wait I need this reference
I however do not have a good blanket for this
I shall have to acquire one
people always talk about the doomed love timeloop when they talk about hadestown. look i love that shit as much as the next homosexual but can we please talk about the revolutionary politics. genuinely one of the best anticapitalist pieces of art of the 21st century. can we watch act 2 with our brains please
it’s amazing how women are able to navigate crowded rooms without ever touching a palm to a man’s lower back
maybe don't associate trans women with your dogshit politics
It's tempting to look at this and bemoan the radicalization of transwomen, or feel hostile towards them.
But I guarantee you, a lot of those accounts are not actually transwomen.
oh I don't doubt it. but there seems to be a coordinated effort (by transphobes and some trans women) to associate trans women with political extremism and this kind of thing plays right into that
also I think most people prefer "trans women" as separate words
Yeah this whole thing is infuriating like no being trans doesn't mean I want to kill all Americans for the glory of the Chinese Communist Party but both the far right and the online transfemme community are now trying to insist that's exactly what it means. For some of us queerness is about our sexual orientation and gender identity not about insane extremist politics. Truly these girls are no different from the trans nazis.

And people continue to lie and pretend none of this ^ ever happened.
In the tags of one of my posts, I pondered the overlap between tumblr tankies and anti-anti-Ai people, suggesting the common link is anti-intellectualism and the disrespect for the arts and humanities that comes with it. Someone left this reply.
I think this is correct (and am only blocking out their name so idiots don’t attack them).
It would sound mean out of context, but we’ve all been on here for a while and know that tankies are genuinely some of the laziest, stupidest, and most incurious people alive. They’re losers who are mad at anyone who finds any success through effort, because they’ve made inadequacy and doing nothing parts of their political praxis. These people aren’t researchers saying “actually this AI model makes this kind of research easier”, but people who’ve seriously argued with me that artists are “gatekeepers” because they…can actually draw or paint, and say you’re not an artist if you can’t draw and instead make a computer program do all of it for you. I said before that it's like crying that it’s “gatekeeping” to say someone who does nothing but order takeout isn’t a chef lol.
But these people act victimized by the idea that you need to put time and effort into something to get better at it. It’s the same with academics; as I’ve said before, this type of person doesn’t want to increase accessibility to education, they want to attack the concept of education itself to justify their own refusal to learn and insecurities over being willfully stupid. How dare you say they should actually read something, or that someone who has studied something and demonstrated their knowledge through getting a degree knows more than they do. These people want the recognition and respect they think artists, academics, and professionals get while putting in ZERO of the time, effort, or work. I repeat: the core here is anti-intellectualism. It sounds a hell of a lot like the right, who feels threatened by experts and the very concept of expertise. Anti-intellectuals of all stripes feel oppressed by the stance that you need to gain knowledge and develop a skill set in something to be taken seriously about it, or achieve something to be rewarded, and they see generative AI as their savior because they don’t have to DO anything, but can have some kind of a result and demand to be seen as on the same level as people who actually put the fucking work in
