The funniest thing about Criston Cole’s speech is he’s actually spent his entire life serving himself. No one made him betray his oath and start messing around with Rhaenyra, he did. No one made him mess around with Alicent, he did. He’s always been a self serving narcissistic prick and even as he marches to his death, he wants to gaslight Alicent with tale and song of his “heroic deeds” what an utterly pathetic excuse for a man and knight.

It feels like they are trying to do some sort of redemption, or heroic end to Cole. I honestly couldn't care less. He's a whiny boy who rather get himself (and other men) killed than take accountability for his own actions.

Idk it's funny seeing people going "Criston's dead! Gwayne's finally free!" as if he isn't about to enter a whole new dominion of crazy when he catches up with Ormund at Tumbleton.

And the thing is, Ormund WILL knock Gwayne around if he feels like it. At least Criston had enough respect for Gwayne to only recite Shakespeare at him.

Loved this devastating Alicent and Helaena scene. Alicent, so desperate not to lose her, starts grabbing Helaena and yelling at her, the exact treatment she tried to prevent back in 2x08 with Aemond (and notably exactly how she treats Aegon in 1x06). She struggles so much with her kids but tries to be good to Helaena, yet can't help but fall back into that old habit.

(I also love that she calls moon tea a blessing. The underlying resentment of her forced motherhood?)

And for Helaena's part, she finally gets to make a choice for herself for once. She raises her voice for I think the first time ever. Their relationship is rapidly fracturing and I think it's so key that it's because Helaena is prioritizing her own agency. She's disobeying a parent the way Alicent would've never done with Otto when she was a girl.
