👀 Luaria

Your name is Luaria Vilkas, and... someone remembered you?

You pause mid-stride in the snow that crunches beneath your feet. You perk your ears while your silver eyes survey the clearing around you, almost swearing you heard something on the wind.

"Huh?" It's an inquisitive hum, one spoken to nothing but yourself and the wildlife around you. You seem to be alone, at least as far as you can tell, but you find yourself feeling uncertain.

You fish out a compass on a chain and hold it up, but you return it to its pocket mindlessly. You're nervous, now. What were you thinking, wandering into the middle of a clearing?

You drop low, pinning your ears back as you gaze through half-lidded eyes to conceal your vibrate hue. Your chest feels tight, and your pulse races as you slowly move towards natural cover. You flinch as a cackle pierces the air, and you dart into hiding.

You don't know what that was, and you don't want to find out.

Bay's fins pointed back as she eyed Teagan's movements. Ouch, when he put it that way...

"It wasn't like that! I didn't mean to forget it, I jvst- it jvst slipped my mind! I was thinking abovt a lot of other things."

More that she was putting off things until they were fully forgotten in favor of getting lost in her own head. Even now, she was threatening to do the very same, an action which led to Teagan sweeping her legs out from under her! However, Baylyn allowed herself to curl up and roll back, spinning her five-prong to twirl it along the ground before quickly changing hands, positioning the handle to briefly ward him off!

Maybe it would be wise not to tell him right now that he wasn't the only one she'd dropped.

She was all but burning with shame. There wasn't much she could say. He had her cornered in every sense of the word, and the panic manifested in her darting eye and stiff fins. Her movements were haphazard, but all it took was the blink of an eye...

And she was supine on the ground with an alarmed cry and a knife to her throat. Baylyn looked up at Teagan , locking eye contact as she struggled to steady her breathing before she spoke, barely over a whisper.

"...I... I'm sorry," she croaked out as she slowly reached up to grip his hand. Her fins drooped as she looked away and swallowed, looking everywhere but at his face.

"Look, jvst- jvst let me vp, okay? Yov got me. I'll talk."

Teagan huffed, tilted his head slightly and leaned in to give her a peck on her good side. The knife was carefully moved away from her throat, not leaving a mark on her. He stood up and offered a hand to help her up.

"ThaT's all I wanTe'T To hear. I don'T wanT To geT all weird and pale abouT iT, buT I'm willing To lisTen To your problems you know. I'm sTill your quad. I wanT To know whaT's up."

Once she was up, he stayed on the side with her good eye and went into her hive with her. He figured she probably had some treats or cocoa or at the least he could make them both some tea.

Surprise flickered across her face as she felt his lips touch her cheek. He left her abashed, but unharmed aside from a bruise or two. Her ego stung, her pride lying in the dust with all of the weight of a shadow as she stood and led Teagan into the hive.

Some things had clearly been changed around. The mostly empty room that had been familiar before now lay adorned with furniture. Her trophy wall was bare, only decorated by thin, white cloths on the shelves, and the same cloth covered the couch, coffee table, and two chairs that were now in view. There were also new tunnels branching further off into the cavern, through which there were the sounds of running water. "I, vh... did a little bit of redecorating."

Baylyn exhaled, a troubled expression easing onto her face. She turned her head to keep an eye on him, but she was notably keeping on the defense. It still felt odd, having previously been an offensive fighter, but even with a quadmate, she seemed unwilling to take the risk. Her breaths were quick and shallow. He hadn't landed any blows on her, but with the way that she already felt cornered, maybe he didn't need to.

His words were hitting harder than his weapons, anyway. The worst part wasn't any form of cruelty- it was that he was right, but eating her own organs felt easier than any form of confession.

"Listen, I- it's not even that big of a deal," she grunted as she backed away, trying to keep her attention on him. "I do see yov as a proper fvckin' pitch, and I get it, yov covld kick my ass even on a bad night. Maybe I just don't want people worrying abovt the shit that's in my head!"

Bay leaped back, but her stance faltered as she scuffed against a wet, slippery rock. Her eyes stung, one remembering its loss and the other from a pang that almost felt fatal to acknowledge.

"Yov've already got enovgh going on, I'm not abovt to make it worse from a glorified pity party!"

But what did he have going on? She didn't know. It was a feeble excuse at best, and a slap in the face at worst.
