Princess Odette

For no apparent reason I've had the song "This is my idea" from The Swan Princess in my head for days. Both the Swedish and the English version. I haven't seen that movie in years. But it got me thinking about the movie, what I remember from it.

What happened to the kingdom Odette came from? Her father was murdered and she was turned into a swan. So what happened to the kingdom?

Why doesn't Odette have a female friend? Derek gets to have a friend but Odette has no one to confide in. How isolated is she? When she gets turned into a swan she has a turtle and a frog, but they're both male...

Thinking about it, is there any Disney princess (I know, I know, The Swan Princess isn't Disney, but ignore that) who has a female friend? Pocahontas does, even though she plays a very small part in that movie. I think Tiana in The Princess and the Frog has a female friend, but I've never seen that movie... Anyone else? A lot of the princesses have animal friends, but from what I remember those are almost all male, right? For fuck's sake, give the princesses some female friends already!

Also, the Swedish version of "This is my idea" is definitely better than the English version.
