I feel like a lot of people have grown up with instant access to people because of social media and technological devices and it definitely shows.
There seems to be expectations on people answering quickly and a lot of “they didn’t answer for an hour so I’m going to make them wait longer”.
I just want to put a friendly reminder out there that you don’t need to be there to respond to someone right away all the time. It’s okay if you’ve burnt out and need to step away. It’s okay if you can’t answer those messages right now. Please prioritize you and step away when you need to.
On the other side, if someone isn’t responding quickly, it doesn’t mean it’s a personal attack at you. It doesn’t mean they don’t care. They could be busy, burnt out or just not in a headspace. They honestly might not want to talk to you right now and it doesn’t mean they don’t care. And yes, sometimes you see them on other social media and not replying to you and it’s important to remember that they still might not be up to talking because it’s a different energy for them or they just don’t want to right then. And that’s okay.
