An Honest Opinion - Moonlight Lovers
Okay, here’s how I’m feeling after playing through Moonlight Lovers. I don’t want to get too spoilery, it’s more just my opinion on the game so far, but I have to say that things really aren’t looking good.
So straight off the bat, there’s no customisation options for the main character (Eloise) except for being able to change her name. And after seeing the illustrations it seems like they’re going for more of an Eldarya feel with that.
Eloise herself can be sassy at times, which I liked, but overall she seemed pretty dumb. She kind of just immediately accepts that everyone in the house is a vampire, without really questioning it much.
I just… am not impressed by them. The only one I’m even remotely interested in at this point is Ethan, and I’ve barely even had the chance to speak with him.
I absolutely can’t stand Vladimir. He’s supposed to be the unofficial leader of the house, with a somewhat stoic and arrogant attitude. Really all I remember from him is he almost hits Eloise and yells at her like a whiny brat every chance he gets.
Beliath can be entertaining at times, especially when he’s sassing Vladimir. I cringe at the way he calls Eloise “my pretty one”. Just stop.
Aaron is big, and I love it, because that’s usually my thing lol. He’s the nice one in the house, but unfortunately I find his personality too soft for my liking, and there’s just something about the way they’ve written him that I really don’t like. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s almost like he unnecessarily repeats the things he says but in different words? Whatever it is, it’s weird. There was also a suspiciously thrown in sentence about wolves in there, which makes me wonder…
Raphael overall seems nice and level headed. Again I haven’t spent much time with him to know much more. I’m kinda confused why Vladimir is the leader of the house instead of him, but I think it may be that Vlad was there first.
Ivan literally looks and acts like a child, and it’s clear that he’s a new vampire, around the same age as Eloise (18). It’s a no from me.
Overall I’m not impressed so far. It almost seems like the art style has taken a step backwards compared to Beemoovs other games, resembling something close to early HSL style.
The story isn’t very strong at the moment, I did get quite bored playing through it, and I hope that improves in the future. The app is easy to use and play through the story, but it definitely doesn’t ‘wow’ me in any way.
I don’t think I really had high hopes for the game to begin with, and while most of the aspects of it are fine, I just don’t feel that it’s anything special.
