ok this needs its own post. i have to talk about the missed opportunity that is making au ena a dedicated influencer / instagram model. if she didn't have niigo, if she gave up on art, that's naturally what she would turn to, relying on online validation to literally keep herself alive. how are you going to make an au where ena's life is worse and not even mention her major coping mechanism? there's this (highly distressing) line in now i wear this ribbon where young ena equates likes on her selfie with proof that people actually care about her. without kanade and the others saying they need her, this is what she'd have to settle for.

and can you imagine how fucked up it would feel to see that version of ena? (because that's the point of these events, to show the inherent wrongness of the units being apart). we'd see a girl who's let go of her passion and her dreams, her drive to improve, and is just taking the easy way, just trying to survive. she's presenting a shallow caricature of herself and trying to pretend she's satisfied with being recognized only for that. that's the antithesis of the ena we know, the person we've watched her grow into. it's everything she hated the most about herself now running her life. it's all her deepest flaws but none of the strength to overcome them, because that strength came from niigo.

Bio: Determined and perfectionistic, Lobby is always giving it their all in challenges. Moreover, they're prone to bottling their emotions. Don't let that disencourage you, though: Lobby is highly empathetic, as he cares deeply for his friends' wellbeing. They're also good at giving out advice to others.  Originally hailing from unknown lands (the bottom of the sea), he resides in Yoyle City, where he moved in hopes of getting away from their once stressful life. They find the BFDIA contestants in BFDIA 6 -- more specifically, he encounters Team No-Name at the abandoned hotel. Since they haven't seen another being in so long, they decide to tag along with the rest of the cast, though he doesn't partake in the competiton. Later on, they compete in BFB as a part of Beep, then moves to TPOT, where he is in Just Not and then Bagged. Throughout the course of later seasons, Lobby is getting better at expressing himself and voicing their thoughts. He and Nickel are in a queerplatonic relationship! Their best friends are Book and Gelatin, he has a rivalry with Fries, and uh... his relationship with Tennis Ball... is complicated, to say the least (complicated as in. They used to be besties. We all know what TB does to Nickel. And Lobby definitely doesn't like that.)

theres just this thing about mizuki's teasing for then just to dissapear in the midst of vulnerability with ena, the words said 'surely there's a better, more normal girl' and. ena just dismisses it SOFTLY with 'I meant everything I said before and I still mean it now." LIKE, LIKE

i cant, honestly, with how ena, so selflessly EVEN THEN thinks about mizuki being comfortable, about how it can just be a 'lets stay together' or that they can JUST BE FRIENDS.

and the final panel of THEM GETTIBG MARRIED??? no, no NO?? they make me ill...

theres this thing that people say that mizuena is mid, and so and so, but the thing about mizuena is the learning, or well acceptance, of being close, being vulnerable. and i think this comic just GETS. IT.
