2025 behind us ! I am super proud that I started my adventure with tabling at cons! Always wanted to see my drawings as stickers and keychains!! I stopped posting basically evreywhere becase of we know what BUT I am thinking of revisiting sm this year and maybe find some "me friendly" way of using it. A WIP for The Tale of Two Stan’s reanimated project (check the projects twitter out @TO2SReanimated) !!!! I have two shots that I chose back to back from each other so it’s kinda like one big long shot lol. I actually still have a few more seconds to animate left at the end.. big mumbo jumbo ramble abt my process below hehe

While animating, I watch a lot of early 2000 2D films. The Emperors New Groove (my fav movie of all time) and The Road to El Dorado being my biggest inspos for this work (can you tell I referenced tulios hand gestures? heheh) In my mind, Stan talks with his hands a LOT, so I wanted to exaggerate it. The guy is tryna sell, so his movements gotta sell it too!

Backgrounds have nnnneeeeever been my strongsuit, BUT I did my best and I’m pretty proud with how it came out! I adore super detailed bgs with flat colored characters, and rendering everything was so relaxing… I used a watercolor and canvas brush pack to give things texture!

Compositing is still something I’m learning, but making it look like an 80s animated film and cels was FUN!!! Big huge shoutout to Toniko Pantoja for his great tutorials on YouTube :-D

Last little bit here I’ll add is the obvious reference to the classic happy ghibli hair float movement I did for his reaction shot at the end. A stark contrast to his reaction in the very beginning, which begins with his head low and ends with it held high!!

I've been planning this illustration for over a month now - in April, I had the patreon folks vote on a theme for a big gravity falls print, and camping was the winner. Even just planning the general composition took a while, figuring out where I wanted all the characters to be. Once I shored up a good thumbnail, I made it tighter twice before putting it on paper, and working in pencil. The pencil drawing part took me four sit down sessions of drawing, and then coloring the scan took another couple of days. I worked SO DANG HARD to finish this monster before mc3, and by some miracle, I did.

Overall, I'm really happy with how this illustration turned out! I feel like it does a good job of expressing my love for the show. I'm really glad people were enthusiastic about it at the convention - I had a lot stop and look at it with these really awestruck, sad wet goo goo eyes expressions LOL! They did this: 🥺 with an actual human face dskjhlsdfkjh!!
