The horrors from beyond the stars just want to give you a hug.
And while it may shatter you perception of reality, cause you see the future, past, and present in one moment, leave you breathless, trembling, scared and shaking, and leave you smelling like a corpse left to rot for weeks after washing up on the shore from lands afar,
It will be a joyous thing.
That something so large, important, unknowable in all ways, while it may not fully understand your pain, it still can sense your melancholy. Perhaps it is in the way your heart races as you walk amongst your peers trying not to stand out too much, lest they learn your secret and break you, a chrysalis too soon. Maybe it is how your speech quickens as you try to make frantic excuses to your parents as you quickly hide away the clothes and accessories which you recently purchased to try and explore your new, glorious, and changing self. It might have been the tears you shed on quiet nights, feeling lonely, and desperately trying to reach out to others, but never feeling quite comfortable in your skin, and fearful that when you do finally metamorphose, the new friends you have found will be horrified and shun you, even try to destroy you, nascent and weak from your recent change.
All of these, it sees, and it can remember its own change. From a small fragile larvae, barely a speck of stardust, drifting between the stars, feeding on solar radiation and the sparks of passing comets, growing fat on them, all the while fearing its own, as they may bring destruction upon it, for being too small, too week, too strange. Then as it swelled and grew, becoming a great towering mass, which could rend the stars, and bend reality, it realized its own kin, were equally scared of one another, each remembering times long past when their kind scoured the stars, and snuffing out anything that could be seen as weakness. Regardless, they had formed small, but welcoming and tight knit communities, and comforted, and chatted, and loved one another. And these ones, knowing what it had been like to grow up and change, in such unforgiving space, where their elders could tear them apart for even the slightest whim, offered it a chance to join them. While it had taken some convincing, they had joined, and joined the cosmic revelry, engaging in the chatter, comfort and love.
Now, it had found something like it, a scared small little thing, which held great potentiality, and but needed to realize itself, and find comfort in those of its own type of strange and beautiful creature. It could only do so much, lest it tear you, and the earth apart. So, it offers you a hug.
You accept. And you are flooded with feelings of warmth, like that of a massive sun, and the bliss of a shooting star. You wept, as a feeling of understanding and acceptance from this truly alien and powerful thing washed over you. The being, in a voice like the rumble of a crashing asteroid, spoke but 4 sentences before it departed to rejoin its flock, which were dwelling near the edge of the galaxy, but these words were ones of comfort and peace.
“Your time is fast approaching, small one. May your transformation be as glorious as the birth of a star. You will find your own. You need only reach out, and take their hands.”
