Follow You into the Dark || Winter & Lucas
As the waiter arrived, Lucas let Winter speak to him first, but he found it amusing the manner in which she did. She sounded as if she were royalty and the poor guy was her servant. Of course, she was gracious about it, used her manners and all that good stuff. Once the waiter turned his attention onto Luke, he was almost too absorbed in thinking about Winter that he’d forgotten to even look. “Uh… just water for me, I think,” the man answered. And within a few seconds, the waiter had run off elsewhere.
“Green?” he shook his head, “My eyes grew tired of seein’ green a long time ago.” But whose wouldn’t? He practically lived in his army uniform for 10 years of his life. The color began to bore him about a year into wearing the thing. But hey, if that’s what she liked. And all of a sudden, an avalanche of information about her. Raising his eyebrows, Lucas settled back in his chair and listened to every detail that came rolling from her lips. “Okay, so you’re a Libra then?” the man asked, not that he really believed in all those zodiac things, “What exactly is your birthday? You know I have to do somethin’ for my favorite gal.” He winked again, absentmindedly running his tongue over his bottom lip.
“Okay, my turn,” he agreed with Winter with a brief nod, answering all the same questions she had, “I was born in town, I am 6′1″, my birthday is in December, no siblings, no pets, I do want to hear the story behind that satanic puppy, and my favorite tv show growing up was Justice League.” He smiled back at her, and just then the waiter returned with their drinks and set them down, asking politely if they were ready to order.
Lucas glimpsed at Winter, tipping his head and raising a brow as if to silently ask if she was ready. And if she was, she knew enough about him to know that it was always ladies first in his mind. He waited until she was through with her order to order his, “Pasta Alla Vodka, please.” He handed his menu back to the man and nodded a thanks before his entire attention was back on the gorgeous woman at the table with him.
“I suppose it could be boring, if one saw it all the time. But I love a dark, deep green. Reminds me of camping and music festivals and all sorts of things.” She shrugged a bit, biting her lip for a minute before she laughed. “But no, i’m not a Libra, I’m a Scorpio, and it’s the day before Halloween. But honestly, you don’t have to do anything, my birthday isn’t that big a deal.” She lifted her arm for a moment, pulling her sleeve up just enough to reveal the tiny scorpion tattoo that she had on her arm before dropping it back to her lap.
Winter took in the information, smiling as he spoke. She was pleased to learn more about him, of course. She wanted to know anything she could about him. She was going to speak once he’d finished, but just as she opened her mouth, the waiter returned and she instead lifted the glass of wine to her lips and took a small sip, licking her lips as she set the glass back down before flashing the waiter a small smile. “Shrimp alfredo, but if you could have them make it without the onions, I’m terribly allergic.” She turned back to Luke as the waiter walked away again, giving him a small smile.
“The satanic puppy was my best friends idea, and for some reason I agreed and now we’re the fine parents of a puppy that outright hates us both.” She shook her head a bit, laughing as she thought about the little thing, those cold eyes. Then again, she only saw the thing when she was blazed out of her mind, so that might have something to do with it. “I have a feeling that there’s something you want to know. You can ask me whatever you like, you know. I’m a pretty open book.”
