It may not be #FanArtFriday but it is #internationalwomensday ! Here's some art of my two favorite female comic book characters. Barbara Gordon was shot by the Joker, paralyzed from the waist down and had to resign from her role as Batgirl. But she didn't let that stop her. She reinvented herself as Oracle, the information source for the superhero world. She utilized her genius level intellect, became extremely skilled in computer programming and hacking and continued to practice martial arts. She truly is an inspiration for all women with physical disabilities. Cassandra Cain was trained as a child to be able to perceive minute changes in an opponent's movements, breathing, center of gravity etc allowing her to effectively predict an opponent's move before they happen. As she was trained to be a killer, aligning herself to the Bat Family's moral code (i.e. no killing) was a difficult journey for her and seeing her develop as a character was great. Also as a result of her upbringing, she's illiterate and must swallow her pride and learn how to read (mentored by none other than Barbara Gordon). I'd say Cass is an inspiration for any women struggling to define who they are or who they want to be.
